Our stay wasn't bad. The bathroom could of been a little cleaner. Was given the wrong room at first but the desk corrected the problem. Had to ask several times for more wash cloths, only gave one per day for two of us. Location is close to everything you could want to do. The in hotel resturant wasn't the best. We went down for breakfast and waited almost 10 minutes and still hadn't been asked about drinks so we left.

The room was nice and clean. Doesn't have enough parking on site.

The room pictures were a lot nicer than the room actually was. we got called in the morning by the housekeeping staff even though I had a "do not disturb" sign on the door, to come into my room because the previous guests left there clothes in a drawer. My other complaint was that I called the hotel when reservations were made about parking and handicap accessibility. Whoiever I talked to said they had both, the parking is underground. When I parked my vehicle and went to the elevator, I had to pull my daughter's wheelchair up about 6 or 7 steps. The elevators are kind of small for wheelchair bound people also.

Over all very nice & quaint. Close 'walking distance" to many activities and night life. Adjoining restaurant "Benjamins" Food is good and reasonable. Would stay there again.

Discount available and the cleanliness. Parking huge issue, very little handicapped parking. Our 2nd stay there for a soccer tournament. We like how clean the place is and the beds r ok.

We chose the Avalon because of its proximity to the Erie Civic Center. We wanted a hotel that would allow us to walk to the concert. The front desk staff was professional and helpful. Our room was clean but a little tatty. Grouting around the bathtub and in the corners of the bathroom were in need of cleaning. Part of the curtains had fallen from the rod and were hanging. The heating unit was not adequate to heat the room when the temperature is 23 degrees outside. The bed was comfortable and we were pleased that there were two chairs in the room (although the chairs didn't match). We had dinner on Thursday evening prior to the concert. The service was very slow because there was only one waitress for the entire dining room. The bar tender helped her out when he could. Three of us ordered the beer battered shrimp and were disappointed with the meal. The shrimp was overly breaded. The twice baked potatoes were cold. One guest had the white pizza and enjoyed it.While packing up to go home on Friday we discovered a prior guest's socks under the bed. The free parking is a big plus. But for its location, we would not recommend this hotel.

The only thing that I liked about this hotel is that it was located in downtown eerie. The room was filthy, bird droppings covered the window, missing signs, and the hallway carpet was filthy. The Avalon hotel is described as the finest hotel in eerie, don¿t waste your money. The lobby was beautiful but the rooms were adequate. I should have stayed in the Microtel off the near I 90.

I felt very unsafe in this hotel because upon check in, after waiting and wondering around the main floor and front desk for 15 mins ALONE, the ONLY employee scheduled for the evening finally came to help, and SHE was friendly but not very helpful as I had to come back down and get her to reprogram my keys because they didn't work. This happened again during my stay and I believe it's due to an outdated keying system. I filed a few complaints for this and the condition of my room (very dirty and stale), and I found a member of management to be very unprofessional and rude. I didn't enjoy this experience and would NEVER recommend this hotel for anyone, especially women traveling alone, families with children, and elderly travelers.

Definitely the most friendly staff I have encountered. They obliged to all our requests. A very nice hotel overall.

The hotel location and the quiet atmosphere. The conference room was without heat and not enough lighting. The rooms were clean. The restaurant (Benjamin) food's was very good and not over priced. The waiters were very friendly. The front desk staff was not very friendly or resourceful.

My husband and daughter and I only had to stay here for one night...thank goodness! All the hotels in Erie and surrounding area were booked, and we just couldn't drive anymore, so we called this one and it had one room left. This hotel has so much potential, but apparently no one cares enough to make it nice. The carpeting in the room appeared to not have been vacuumed. There was a cigarette burn in one of the comforters. The door locks like a normal hotel door, but then instead of the normal extra lock you see, you get one of the old chain type loocks. The bathtub had a rust ring around the drain...gross! For those who care about amenities (and I do when I'm paying * a night!), they offered Breck shampoo that looked like it was made in the '80s and Pure&Lovely soap bars (I think that was the name). Yuck. With those choices, hotel management has ensured that no one will be stealing products or even requesting extra ones! It's unfortunate that they haven't kept this place up. I lived in Erie about ten years ago and the Avalon was considered a fun place to go hang out. I had never seen any of the rooms, though, so who knows what they even looked like then. The room we had was really large (which was a plus) with two double beds, a desk with a chair, a TV with not a great variety of channels, but enough for one night there. The base of the windows was grimy and dirty. Only noticed this because our little girl wanted to look outside. Biggest surprise: no sprinkler system in room! However, there was, of course, a smoke detector. All I can say is enjoy beautiful Erie someplace else.

The hotel room was large and had a great view, but the ceiling was cracked and it looked as though it had not been maintained in more than a decade. Very friendly staff, and convenient restaurant and bar.

The location was very convenient. I have stayed at this hotel twice and the beds in each room were very uncomfortable.

My family came into Erie for a Seawolves game. The location was great - two blocks down. The rooms were nice, very big. Nice view from the 7th floor. Unfortunately there was also a wedding and a jazz fest in town that weekend. There were some very rowdy guests - bullhorm and all - but all quieted down before too late. We didn't try the pool that was located in the adjoining building on the second floor. Great for the price!!

Stayed at the Avalon on 8/10/07 - 8/12/07 and was very pleased with the location of the hotel. Near everything; bay, casino, malls, etc. Even though the hotel had a small exercise room we enjoyed the fact that we were able to use the YMCA facilities right across the street. I would recommend this hotel to others and will stay here again.

The room we had was one of the largest rooms I have ever stayed in. The first pay TV we purchased had no sound, had to watch another one. Front desk gave us credit, but we were set on one movie. A very big room. The place is a little "dated" but it is well taken care of by the staff. There was parking in the basement but there were not many places for as big of a hotel as it was. Might have trouble finding parking in busier time. The hotel is in a "rough" part of town, some homeless people on streets in the neighborhood.
