The check-in process was smooth, and the room was a two-king beds suite, large and clean. The area around the hotel is run-down, but not really unsafe. If travelling with kids there is a large waterpark right next door. The full complimentary breakfast was a bonus. Itwas in a dining room overlooking the treetops where we saw so many different birds, more than we had seen at the other rainforest resort. On checking out, the staff made sure we had directions back to the airport, as driving in Panama is horrific.

Avalon is a beautiful facility, surrounded by beautiful greenery. I rated the location as okay as it is not convenient to the city area. (Minimum taxi ride to downtown is 25) The rooms are beautiful. Several lights in the living area of our junior suite did not work, making the area very dim. A short power outage rendered the tv in our bedroom unusable. Maintenance was quick to assess the problem and replace the tv. Although there was an armoir for a tv in the living area, there was no tv. The bath tub did not drain properly. After a shower, we were left standing in ankle deep water. The morning we checked out, the water pressure was not sufficient for a shower. Then, the water was off completely for a while. Something leaked near the shower leaving a puddle behind the toilet. The appliances (microwave, coffeemaker, fridge) did work well.While a beautiful facility, the management needs to pay more attention to maintenance, upkeep of the place and customer comfort and perception. Paying what we did and not having lights that worked in the room, bathtubs that don't drain and then having to pay an extra 10/day to have internet in the room makes this, in our opinion, not a very good value for the money.The staff is very polite, pleasant and helpful. As is often the case, the worker bees are top notch, but the management needs more training.

my first visit to Panama City. the Avalon resort waht very cofortable the rooms were much larger that i expected and the view was spectacular. I wish someone had indicated that there is a tour guide in the lobby to assist with trips throughout the country. I may not have rented a car if I had Known it would be so easy to get where I wanted to go. i would visit this resort again

I only stayed at this hotel one day and one night. The hotel is very beautiful but needs maintenance. Fresh paint, etc. Room are very spacious. TV's did not work.Service at the restaurant was poor. Very far from downtown.

The hotel is nice but it is located much further from the banking district then the promotional materials indicated. Expect a 2 hour commute in morning and afternoon traffic. The map seems to indicate that it is in a different location.

All in all it was a very interesting place to stay. We had a horrible room the first night, and it was only due to the fact that I sat in the lobby for hours that made the management switch us to a standard room. The Transistmica highway is under construction, so traffic was crazy.

The Avalon Grand Panama hotel was not all it is cracked up to be. Though it was pleasant in terms of its staff, the upkeep of the building, and the room's cleanliness. Its location was very bad. It is located far away from the city and transportation back and forth to the city was very expensive. We also felt like we were being ripped off by the taxi service for being tourists, and the hotel did nothing to help us find cheaper modes of transport. In short, for the price we would recommend staying in a closer location where the hotel service, amenities and prices would be just the same or even better!

This is a wonderful hotel. Excellent staff and service. Very helpful and extremely friendly.The rooms were clean and comfortable. Great water park, but very quiet. I will continue to use this hotel on all my Panama visits.
