We HAVE A TIME SHARE IN CANCUN AND I HAD SET OUR FLIGHT A DAY EARLY (MY FAULT). AND AT THE LAST MINUTE TRUSTED ORBITS TO SET US UP FOR THE NIGHT. IT IS NOT COMMON TO SLIP AND FALL INTO GRADE A SERVICE. THIS WAS OR EXPERIENCE! I LOVED THE SERVICE BY ORBITZ AND THE AVALON WAS EVERYTHING THAT WAS PROMISED AND THEN SOME! YOU HAVE EARNED ANOTHER CLIENT AND I WOULD RECOMMEND YOUR SERVICES TO MY OWN FAMILY.

Loved the corner room with the ocean views. The poor light in the bathroom for the mirror. We enjoyed the views of the ocean and the access to it. Did not care for the music by the pool, lucky that we did not hear it by the ocean. [The bed was very comfortable and very inviting (beautifully made up).]

We loved the hotel very small and close to all shopping malls. Everyone was helpful and very freindly. Food was excellent drinks were very good. Be ready to climb stairs no matter where you go in the hotel. Only bad thing about stay is after 2 p.m. you get no sun, Beach Palace beside the Avalon blocks the sun from pool and beach. Also, very little beach area the tide was way up and you could barely walk the beach area. (which that was happening all along the beach not just Avalon Grand). At this hotel and both the others we were never bothered by Time Share people. That was nice. (We visited all the Avalon Family hotels). Avalon Grand was the nicest of them all with the friendiest and helpest staff. We have a Ocean View Studio which was very nice and big with 2 full size baths and huge balcony to sit at and enoy the ocean view. It is a very quite and friendly place to stay. We would stay again. Just returned from Cancun and already miss it. The Avalon Grand is a beautiful hotel with an exceptionally friendly, helpful and caring staff. Loved the fact of being able to utilize The Avalon Baccara two hotels down. We accessed the beach from this hotel beacuse the Avalon Grand really didn't have beach front access. Also if you book a "studio room" be sure to call the hotel beforehand to verify the size. If you notice the pictures online they might differ from the room you actually receive. We were able to upgrade for * for a beautiful studio room. The food was excellent at all available locations including room service. All inclusive was definitley the way to go.

My boyfriend and I booked a week stay at the Avalon Grand in Cancun at the end of December. What struck us immediately was the rudeness of the people checking us in. We asked some questions about the hotel and were told that they would get back to us with the answers--we never were contacted. Our biggest disappointment was the beach or the lack thereof..the main reason we went to Cancun was to relax on the beach and there was just a tiny strip of sand in front of the resort and no access to the beach from the property--and certainly no chairs or umbrellas of any kind. The pool was OK, but again in the morning, when we went to get towels, the towel stand wasn't manned and we had to go to the front desk and have them get us some, and they weren't very accomodating when they had to do this. We basically left the resort each day and headed out on our own to find a beach. When we returned in the evening, on a couple of occasions, we found our sheets changed, but the rest of our bedding laying on the floor in a pile and had to make our own bed. We basically spent as little time as possible at our resort. We have both been to Mexico on numerous occasions and have never been as disappointed as we were with this property.

Good location convenient to malls and restaurants. One concierge didn't know the hotel had it's own gym. Great place - very friendly and clean!

Best Service... VERY VERY CLEAN... HUGE Room ... HUGE Shower.... Beautiful view... FUN, FRIENDLY Bartenders, waiters, waitress'..... Walking distance to Clubs, Restaurants, Shops... LOVED IT!! Will definitely stay here again and recommend it to all my friends and family.... THANKS AVALON GRAND!!!!!!!

Stayed in Cancun for the new years celebration 2009. Avalon Grand is very pretty and very well kept. Staff very friendly but not well organized at the front desk and restaurants. Great ocean views but hard beds and lots of stairs, food is very good. Eating out can get really expensive so go with the all inclusive plan at the hotel. The infinity pool is great to kick back and have drinks. Great town with friendly people felt very safe. Overall great experience in Cancun/Costa Maya planning to return for next new year 2010!

This hotel is on the small side for Cancun standards. The food is buffet style at both restaurants and the Mexican restaurant was only open three days a week when we were there. Kelly's bar wasn't open at all when we were there. The bar service was not very good, there were many drinks that they could not serve due to either not knowing how to make or not having ingredients. The Avalon Reef is a timeshare and if you go there to enjoy Isla Mujeres expect the timeshare sales people to be on you. This was a decent hotel for $ a night, mostly due to location and if you desire a smaller hotel. Don't expect a resort becuase that is not what this is. If you want a hotel with sit down restaurant service this isn't the place. If you want a place where the bar service includes waiters to circulate and bring drinks this is not it. I would say this is no more than a three star hotel with two star resort amenities. Also, the front desk is absolutely of no help if you have problems with your arrangements as I attempted to call them four times in two days during my stay and never spoke to anyone. The concierge was helpful in arranging a trip to Chichen Itza but referred us to the timeshare when we wanted to go to Isla Mujeres.

We loved this hotel and would definately return in the future, it was close to 2 large shopping centres and accross the road from a smaller shopping mall. We practically walked everywhere and the bus is very accesible if you are going a little further on the hotel zone. My best tip would be to learn as much spanish as you can before you go to mexico, not many people speak english, although the concierge at the hotel was wonderful and spoke perfect english and explained everything very well. This hotel is probably not suited for elderly people or anyone who has trouble with stairs.

This was to be our last day in Mexico so we wanted a place on the beach with airport transportation. We got in to our room which had a strong sewage smell and dingy lighting but figured that we wouldn't be spending much time there as our flight left in the early morning so we would just head down to the pools and the beach The safe in the room was broken. When we called down to the desk the said they didn't offer that service anymore because people kept forgetting there keys and they did not offer any other solutions to lock up our valuables.We took all our stuff down to the pools to discover both pools were in the shade, a the beach was inaccessible and the entrance to the beach had been boarded up with plywood. At the desk we ask how to get to the beach and the clerk just motioned to go down a few buildings. We walked down to the another Avalon hotel and had to scale down the side of a building to get to the beach which was littered with debris and had no place to sit. We finally gave up and returned to the desk and asked about the airport transfer. They said they required 72 hours notice and that we would have to call a cab. Upon returning to our room we noticed the toilet leaking water on the floor. We had already unpacked our stuff and did not want to change rooms as we were leaving in a few hours. We just put down one of the shabby old towels around the toilet. The shower curtain was a foot short and there was water all over the floor when you got out. Not worth the money or time.

Enjoyed our stay. Room was big and clean. Lobby was big enough to go have drinks & relax before/after dinner. Friendly people. Had an endless pool that was great. Did not really communicate activities unless you were at the pool.

Avalon Grand Cancun was a very comfortable stay. The room was big enough for 6 people with a great view. The staff is great the room was alway clean and when we asked for something they didn't took more than 5 min. to provide us with what we asked for. The location is very good, near the club and restaurants and with it own beach (the sea was very strong to get in at the time we went). The food was exellent i think is the best food i had on the trip. I will highly recomend this hotel for anyone and i will defenetly will not dout to go and stay there again.

This Hotel was wonderful. The staff called us my our names the whole time we were there, i don't know how they remebered but they did. Also this hotel has activities all day like bingo by the pool for prizes, karaoke, and dance shows/ competitions. The location of this hotel is right in the hotel zone, there is a great shopping center across the street, the bus stops right outside the hotel and for about sixty cents you can take a five minute ride down to the clubs and bars 24/7 so you never have to worry about going out, also the bus takes you to the ferry to isla mujeres where you can travel to the Avalon sister resort. I suggest you get the ALL INCLUSIVE package it is well worth it you eat and drink as much as you want even 24 hour room service. I stayed here Jan 8 2009 to Jan 14 2009 and there was a nice beach and stairs that took you you down. I also suggest booking some tours especially to xel ha and tulum and rio secreto. If you want a nice hotel where its still personable enough that people know your names and are always smiling this is the hotel for you.

We just come back from Cancun with my Husband and 2 kids(9,12) and other 2 families.We had 2 rooms were connected with ocean view. The ocean view rooms was very nice.We had a very good time! The staff peopel were all friendly and the service was Great. There were some noice from next door hotel which still under Construction. But It did not bother us too much. Because we are early bird. The constrution people normally start working at 9:00am to 6:00pm. We will be back.

This was our second vistit to the Avalon Grand and both visits were great! The hotel is centrally located and the staff is amazing. Both restaurants on site have fabulous food with good variety. We enjoyed being able to just order our lunch from the bar right next to the pool. Their beach area is small, but we were able to play in the ocean with my mom watching us from the pool! I just can't say enough about the wonderful staff and if we return to Cancun we will return to the Avalon.

The trip was excellent. Loved the location, easy walking distance to Margaritaville, Pat O'briens, Bubba Gumps and Outback. Food was actually very good. Not steak and lobster, but it varied each day and all was quite tasty.
