experience south shieldsThe Landlord of the Athol House was lovely very friendly and helpful. Situated in the town centre has good access to all areas. Accommodation spotlessly clean and served the purpose of the visit, food very nice. Would go back again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a room.

Good for budget travellersWell decorated place and spotlessly clean, very accommodating for early breakfast and popular with contractor staff. Down sides were that I had a room at the front of the hotel and the traffic noise level was high + the street lamp opposite is extremely bright! Good if you're on a tight budget but don't expect luxury

Excellent StayStayed 2 mid-week nights, you need to book parking in advance, but i had no problems parking on street within 100 yards. Nice size room,tastefully decored and furnished. i was in an attic room but still had no probs getting the free wi-fi. My room was not en-suite but shared facilities were immaculate as was the rest of the hotel. The owner, Duncan, couldnt be more friendlier and tho i didnt partake of his breakfasts cos i dont eat that early it certainly looked and smelt great. ideal for longer stays with a small kitchenette in the corner with fridge, cooker and sink. alltogether a fab stay for the price. i'll deffo be back again. the most friendly accommodation in the area!I felt totally at home and only could stay one night instead of the three I had originally booked for and regretted it! I would definitely come back.

Photograph is deceptiveThis place is quite big inside. My room was really nice. Very clean with a sink / fridge Sat TV, double bed, desk, easy chair and free wi-fi. This place is great for those staying in South Shields on a budget but don't want a doss house

Excellent Value for MoneyGreat host, and a really good room, with a small cooking facility and fridge. The host is excellent, and this is an ideal place for anybody looking for a short stay or even a longer term rental. I certainly would stay there if I needed accomodation in that area.

Well modernised hotel with nice freindly people.This was my second stay here and I shall undoubtedly return when in the area. You can`t do better in value for money.

A really pleasant surprise to find this spacious well run B&B. The room was clean, modern and comfortable. The owner was exceptionally helpful and always cheery, which made the stay far more enjoyable.

AN EXCELLENT b&b. Spotlesslesly clean. Large room but not en-suite although each has a sink. Excellent English breakfast cooked to order. Parking available in street opposite. Rooms are to be upgraded this year to incorporate en-suite. Jolly good value for money. Will stay agian if in the area

Great hotel - would definitely stay again. Very easy to get to from the A1, directions were very easy to follow and only a short distance from the centre of Newcastle (the Metro train station was just down the road). There is car parking in close vicinity, which is free at weekends and evenings. The owner was very helpful and friendly, and cooked a great breakfast every morning! The hotel was also very clean, and the room was spacious. There are plenty of places of eat out in the evening - and apparently 47 Indian restaurants in South Shields! Highly recommended and great value for money!

directions mega easy to follow. friendly welcome and advice on where to park, room massive, spotless and all newley furnished. breakfast made to order verry good choice and lovely to eat. will definatley use this hotel again when i am in that area.
