People were friendly & professional. The rooms were clean & of modern architecture. Some noise did flow through the neighbors wall but only slightly noticable. Hotel bar/restaurant easily accessible & close to the Greektown casino. Within walking distance of the River-front, Ren-Cen Movie theatre, various restaurants and the ice hockey, football & baseball arena/stadiums. Would've enjoyed the availabilty of a fitness center @ the hotel but a YMCA @ the GM building would give a day pass to workout.

Great central downtown location & friendly staff. The Athenium is a great hotel, with friendly staff and a prime Greek Town / Detroit location. It's right in the middle of fine restaurants, fun bars, exciting sports venues and the casinos.

Stayed for a quick getaway. The hotel was clean. Ordered room service the food was hot and tasty. The hotel is located in the downtown Detroit/Greektown area lots of activities such as Greektown Casino and many resturants to chose from all in close walking distance not to mention Fishbone's is located downstairs of the hotel has excellent food .The staff was very curteous and professional. I will definitely stay here again.

The hotel advertises free transportation but my husband and I were denied transportation. They tell you transportation if free within a five mile radius, but we were denied. We paid too much money a night for our room, not to receive everything that the hotel offers. I would never stay here again. While sitting in the lobby the shuttle did take off with someone in it, but it was not me and my husband. They don't honor there advertised free transportation - you will be DENIED.

Overall our stay at the Atheneum was great. We had a few problems though. First we were given a suite with double beds when we reserved a king size suite. So we went back down to the front desk and it was resolved. Once we got in our correct room we noticed the drain in the bathroom was broken. The stopper was pushed down and was leaving water in the sink, we simply called customer service and it was taken care of in like 20-30 mins. The rooms are really nice and was very clean. However the walls are sooo thin! This was my first stay at the Atheneum and despite the thin walls I would go back because it's in the heart of downtown detroit!

I visited this hotel to attend the Lions - Bears game on 9/30/07. This hotel was in the perfect location. Less than a 10 minute walk to Ford Field, a 2 minute walk to Greektown Casino, and other night spots. Very close to the tunnel to Canada. I will definately recommend this hotel to any of my clients that visiting Downtown Detroit. Excellent and responsive Guest Services! Fishbones is attached to the hotel and I enjoyed a great Gameday Buffet! The rooms need 2007-08 update in terms of decor, but this is me being nit-picky as my overall experience was top notch!

Pretty good experience overall. Hotel was very nice; detroit could use some better signs to find the people mover.

The hotel staff was very helpful, the room was large and clean. Air conditioner took a long time to cool off the room, it did eventually, but it took a bit. The Atheneum was clean, the rooms were clean, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. It is very close to the stadiums, and a great place to stay for a Tigers game. Greektown was cute, and we walked around the area a bit, and felt safe. I would stay here again if visiting Detroit.

The hotel itself is actually quite nice, but Detroit still has some work to do when it comes to sprucing up their downtown. The interior is slightly dated and shows its age with a crooked light cover or scuffed door here and there, but don't let that stop you, as overall it is a nice place. The staff was polite and the courtesy shuttle was immediately available both mornings of my stay to take me to my conference at the GM Rennaissance Center. I registered at the hotel using my company's corporate account but upon checking in was bumped up to a very nice complimentary junior suite with a king-size bed, jacuzi-style bathtub, two large, flat-screen TVs and free high-speed Internet. My only complaints are that the room I had was right next to the ice machine which I could hear through the adjacent wall while working on the computer and fact that the room was slightly warm. However, the bedroom had its own A/C so it was very comfortable. The hotel is located next to the Greektown Casino and Greektown entertainment district. Be warned that there are lots of panhandlers on the street and the casino patrons themselves tend be pretty scummy. During the day I walked the 3-4 blocks to/from my conference and felt perfectly safe. However, at night I'm not sure I would recommend it. But once inside the hotel everything was fine.

The entry way, lobby and bar areas are all updated and nice looking, but the rooms are in need of some renovations. They are a bit outdated and the beds are not that comfortable. The location was great and so was the service. All of the staff members were helpful and curtious.

The staff is excellent. The design of the rooms and hotel is really nice. Hotel is very clean - everything was new. Staff was on the ball! Very efficient. Check in took less than 2 minutes! The only thing we didn't like was the difficulties getting in and out of the tub shower. It's very deep and awkward, but the hotel suites make up for it.

Wife and I traveled to Detroit to complete immigration process. Looked through numerous hotel reviews on-line and finding the first page of many hotel reviews to be promising only to find darker reviews after viewing additional pages. Not so with this hotel, and true to its reputation, we had a wonderful time. The staff looked after us very well, making sure we were safe and comfortable. We asked for the Casino package as part of our reservation and were very happy with the package including the restaurant coupons. We were guided to our choice of restaurants and even shuttled to and from our immigration appointment after we had already checked out. The manager should be proud of his excellent staff. If you go to go to Detroit, why not treat yourself!

Valet guys are fabulous the front desk ppl not so great, they barely have eye contact w/you and could careless you're in front of them, when asked where Auburn Hills(PISTONS) is from the hotel, the front desk replied I have no idea ask the valet guy(he did) yes I agree the walls are very thin, we were actually serinaded by a homeless man outside singing gospel tunes till midnight ( can carry a tune though) the bright spot if you love Greek food this is the place to be, if you want to go to a Lions or Tiger game this is the place to be all within walking distance, Fishbones restaurant is attatched to the hotel and has a great sunday brunch.

The Antheneum was a nice place to stay in Detroit. The room was large with a good view of the city. I enjoyed having a separate lounging area so that I could stay up late and watch TV; while the rest of my family was sleeping. It is located in the heart of Detroit with many convenient restaurants and sites to visit. The staff was extremely helpful in giving directions and recommending the perfect places to eat. I will be back!

Penthouse. Plain bathrooms. Gorgeous room. Awesome place. The only thing I didn't like were the lights were a pain to figure out and the bathrooms were very ugly.
