I think the hotel was so worse i ever lived, the room was too small and the bed sheet was very awful !!! attention!! I got the allergy when i stay there, if u really wanna book the hotel, please check the room type, cuz we book the 4 people room but the assistant said i book the 2 people room. so we spend many times to find another room and more money gone. bbbbbbbbbe careful!!!!

Location; hassle free. Worn out mattress, old windows let in loud street noise, breakfast buffet too crowded. The location was great if you like SF/Chinatown. A large parking garage was just across the street as well as a Starbucks. Old building with single pane windows let in a lot of street noise. I had to wear earplugs to sleep. The mattress was old and worn out. The TV only had three stations to watch. The breakfast buffet was very good and reasonable but one has to set at a large table among strangers. The walls were painted mauve. The housekeeping service was accommodating and polite. All in all an okay hotel. Very similar to the Grant Hotel located one block north.

This hotel is right next to the gate to Chinatown. It is also close to shopping, restaurants, Union Square, and Market Street, which is the main thoroughfare of San Francisco. Cable cars go right through Chinatown to Nob Hill. Little Italy is next to Grant Ave. and it's possible to actually walk from the hotel all the way down to the piers. The room was big enough and clean. The heater did not seem to work but we did fine without it. All the staff seems to be Chinese; the front desk clerks speak good English. Astoria is an excellent value. It is not luxurious but we did not expect luxury at such a low price.

Clean, safe and perfectly located. The elevator was a little scary. Only 3 people at a time could ride in it.

We were there for just one night and were not expecting anything fancy considering it was one of the cheapest rates in town. HOWEVER, there was horrible plumbing to the point where we had to simply not use the toilet the rest of the night and the only aid offered was to "come downstairs" to get a plunger. Also, parking was an issue and mostly because we were given poor information by the front desk attendant. We moved our vehicle from another spot because he promised us a cheaper fare nearby, and then were unpleasently suprised in the morning when we had to pay nearly $15 MORE than what he had promised. And when we confronted him he said, "oh, I guess I'm wrong then." San Francisco is not an easy city to park in, but it would have been nice for the attendant to be up front with us so we could have attemped to save money elsewhere. Therefore, between two cars we paid nearly $50 on parking on top of our stay. Our recommendation to others would be to A.) save the hassle and find a hotel with parking and B.) not stay at this hotel thinking you are getting a good deal. Spend an extra few bucks and get fully functioning plumbing.

Price. Elevator! For a business traveler, this hotel worked fine for me for the price. It's a little noisy at night from traffic. However, that didn't bother me. The elevator is old and could bounces some. The hotel is right next to the gates to Chinatown.

I enjoy my stay at this hotel. Great location, closed to the most popular sites. There is some improvement that needs to be done. The tv is old needs to be change, not enough channels available. The elevator needs service, above all this is a good hotel for that price. This is not a very fancy hotel but good. I only needed a place to sleep, I was out in the city most of the day.

This was by far the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. Unfriendly service with hardly any English. The satellite TV was not at all. We got 8 channels 3 of which came in. No hairdryer and it took 5 minutes for the hot water to warm up. Not to mention the condom I found in the closet. I would love to get my money back. What a rip!

This hotel is located in the busy downtown area of San Francisco and literally next to the China Town gate. If you are looking for a quiet five star hotel then this hotel is not for you. But if youre looking for an affordable downtown hotel close to public transportation, than Hotel Astoria is for you! This hotel does not have parking but they have a contract with a parking garage a block over (on 450 Sutter st.) where you can leave your car for $22 a day, which is a great bargain for San Francisco! Its pretty noisy around the hotel, so if your a light sleeper i recomend ear plugs. There are tons of great places to shop and eat around the hotel which is very convenient. The warf is only a short bus ride away. I recomend going to Alcatraz if you've never been. You may want to purchase your tickets in advance on the website, as they do sell out often.

it is a 2stars hotel. Rooms are wood and shaking easliy when u try to walk inside the room :). they keep the hotel in orginal version so it seems so old . There is no prof. staffs it a hotel with family management. There is nothing about luxury or look good but it is a excellent hotel when you think the price and location of the hotel

The rooms are very small, the elevator is very slow. The bathrooms are clean. The towels soft. But you can tell its an old hotel. The tv had few channels even though it said it had cable. But did come with a good deal with a garage a block away, unlimted in and out!

The location is excellent, plus the price. There isn't too many amenities but who cares? That's what what's being paid for here...

The Hotel Astoria is located next to the gateway to Chinatown and in Union Square/Nob Hill areas. The best part of the hotel is the location. The room was not comfortable. The bedspread and curtains were older and stained. The top of the desk was in very poor condition and we had a difficult time finding an electrical outlet for the iron which luckily we had with us. The bathroom was in need of repair. The towels were very thin and non-absorbent and the bath mat was paper. The room smelled like smoke and just did not feel comfortable. After using the elevator once, we decided to use the stairs. It made strange noises. Parking is two blocks away so we had to carry our luggage to and from the hotel. We packed lightly so that was not too much of a problem. The short interaction with staff was just fine.

The Hotel Astoria is not a place you want to go if you're looking for any kind of luxury. The room was clean & I was only there to sleep, so it was fine. The elevator is shaky so I used the stairs. If I need a room in that area & at that price again, I would go back.

This would not be my first choice next time, no AC,rooms a little muggie.
