Great time! Excellent location. Walking distance to everything! Only drawback was the long wait for the valet parking. We waited to check into valet parking about 20 mins and there was only 2 cars in front of us! Then there were no other options to self park. Valet was the only option and it was expensive for the quality of service upon arrival

Convenient. Not as nice as expected. Prices were higher than anticipated in New Orleans, so the price of the hotel was within the price structure of most everything in the city.

This is supposed to be one of the "Crowns" of the Holiday Inn chain, but all it has to offer there is location and nice public spaces. But our stay was miserable, especially as it came to housekeeping. Starting off petty, on arrival we had no tissues or hand towels which took three calls over the day to resolve and towels smelling of smoke, and ending at the absurd. We came back to the room the afternoon of our last night to find it unserviced. I talked to management whose reply was we had our ?do not disturb? up all day, which we did not, but they would take care of it. We returned from our evening and found they had done nothing. (As an afterthought maybe we should have put our trash in the hall like everyone else.) Then the next morning at 8:30 we were woken to the incessant banging on our door that now did have a ?do not disturb? sign by housekeeping. Later that morning at checkout we stated our complaints again and simply got a ?so sorry.? If you?re looking for a place to crash after slamming back hurricanes with you frat buddies then the Astor is your place. But if you?re looking for a place to relax after enjoying the food and jazz scene of Bourbon Street, I suggest staying somewhere else.

You can't get much better than this in terms of location, but be prepared to pay for ALL the extras. It cost $32 bucks to park your car at an uncovered lot 8 blocks away which you will be shuttled to at the end of your stay. The bell service is understaffed and not very helpful as well, so you'll most likely be toting all of your luggage yourself onto the shuttle. Also the WiFi costs $6 if you plan on using it. Now that you know that drawbacks to expect up front, let it be known that the rooms and lobby are beautiful and the location is supreme with a side entrance opening right up to Bourbon St, the heArt of the night life in new Orleans. We enjoyed our stay in this hotel immensely despite all of the additional costs and hassles.

Proximity to the French Quarter. The room was way too small. Liked the hotel the first time we stayed there but this time the room was tiny.

The staff at the Astor crown plaza, was able to host my group of 12 for our annual event. Even though the city was amidst the recovery from hurricane Gustav. The rooms were large, clean, and the staff very accommodating. They Hotel sits on the corner of Bourbon & Canal, within walking distance to dome, convention center, and some of the finest restaurants in town. I will use this hotel, again.

We had a great time in New Orleans. We are local and try to stay in the Quarter occasionally and check out different hotels. The Astor was wonderful. Check in was friendly and efficient. The Bourbon House Restaurant was top notch, one of the best I've ever been to. The room was huge and gorgeous. 2 queen beds and lots of space to move around. The beds were so comfortable, we slept like babies. Maybe because it's July, the price was only $100 (then a $25 rebate through Orbitz). We will definitely stay again.

Everyone, staff and guests alike, seemed to be having a good time. The hotel itself is very efficiently run, and the valet parking was well worth the extra money, relieving us of the need to navigate the downtown/Quarter congestion. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the room was fresh, clean, and quiet. Everything was in great shape, and the marble finishes in the bathroom were a lovely touch.

I wouldn't stay here again. Upon arrival we were told they did not have a double queen available. They did not care that one of us would have no where to sleep. We had to scramble to find someplace for one of us. The hotel desk staff just stared blankly, could not have cared at all that we were inconvenienced. The next day after three bad attempts and an hour of my time they did finally move me to a room w/ 2 double beds, however no working hair dryer, or hot water. Called down to complain, nothing was done. At check out I lodge yet another complaint, about the stay and was told point blank that because I booked through a "third party" they did not have to do more than have some type of room available. That had I booked directly they perhaps could have done something for me. It was miserable as was the attitude displayed by the staff. 3 days.

This tops my other favorite hotel The Doubletree on Canal, everything was so beautiful , service was excellent. Even with the large crowd of people in town your staff was excellent. All of the activities were just minutes away . I will return in 2010.

The beds were nice. No robe, lots of noise, bad view, no toilet paper! I was surprised by how much was lacking for a 3-star. It catered to large groups more than it did to individual travelers. I complained about noise and was given ear plugs. This seems careless to me. The alarm went off at 7 am our first morning; they should have made sure it wasn't set before we came in. They forgot to replace toilet paper after cleaning the house. We had to call several times. They said there was a whirl pool. They're wasn't. They said there was pool-side room service. There sort of was, but they were unable to tell us what they would actually bring to us. Nothing, it turns out. Overall, if this is a 3-star, I'm incredibly disappointed?

The only complaint i have about this place was the surprise $ dollar a day for "incidentials" I dont mind paying for these things if Im told about them ahead of time..so i had $ tied up in their safe. And at our check out they didnt have the money that early so was going to have to wait til someone got there with the keys to the safe...well the emplyee at the desk went to the bank and got my money for me so we didnt have to wait any longer. The valet is great he did us a big favor and went above and beyond his job. The car we drove is my daughters who just passed away from a brain tumor in June 08' after 7 months in the hopsital. So her car had been in a barn for storage,so we were smelling something very bad..He looked and found a rats nest, and he disposed of it for us, along with another boy that also was a valet..(I didnt get his name) but they were ALL very very nice. The room was very nice and clean, very centrally located easy walk from/to any where. I enjoyed my trip. We would stay here again

The room was very nice and clean. The location is unbeatable; however, with the great location comes the noise from Bourbon Street at night. I am a heavy sleeper so it didn't bother me that much. I would stay here again.

I've stayed at this hotel several types. This was the best stay yet. Problems with air conditioning seem to be fixed. Clean, staff ready to help with requests. Only problem was parking. When checking out, wait for valet was 45 minutes. However, vans were provided to drive guests to parking garage where you vehicle was brought up for you. Price of parking is over the top, but that's everwhere.

Nice, clean, attractive, friendly, and great location. The pool is small. This hotel is located on the corner of Canal and Bourbon Street. Bourbon Street is the Mardy Gras street. It is a great location for meetings, shopping at CVS and Walgreen's is across the street. An upscale mall with a theater and small food court are only a few blocks away and just a little further the Riverwalk Mall, Casino, Museums, and great restaurants are available. The trolley stops in front of the hotel and this is the best way to get around New Orleans as it is very cheap and fairly efficient. The Executive Club membership is worth it because you get a big breakfast and appetizers that are basically gourmet meals with a free beer, wine, juice, or soda from 5-8 p.m. It was a pleasant experience.

the only request we had was a bath tub stopper and never got it showers only i guess. the biggest complaint is i paid for the room approx. 3 weeks prior to arrival and after being home 2 days i find that i have been charged a second time for the room.. i called accounting and was promised a refund only to be charged a third time for the room and second time for valet parking. another call was made and much to my surprise i have to wait for an investigation to get a refund on two room overcharges and one valet overcharge. they have been sitting on my money for about 10 days now and still no light at the end of the tunnel. so if you want to stay here be prepared to be out some money for at least 10 days.

The staff were very nice and friendly, they also did a good job of not letting people loiter in front of the hotel at night, felt very safe. One of our rooms plumbing backed up in the sink and cause the room to smell very foul along with the whole floor for a while. Overall this was a great stay other than the incident with the plumbing, the maintenance staff was there quickly but his method of fixing the problem only caused the room to smell worse and actually the whole hallway for a while, but overall we had a good stay and I would stay at this hotel again. The staff was great and very friend and the location was great, very hard to beat this location for the price. The rooms were clean and neat.
