The condo was within walking distance of the beach at Waikiki and had a beautiful view of Diamond Head. We were on the 10th floor so we had an obstructed view of the ocean but if staying on the 20 - 32nd floor, we would have had a great view of the beach too. The decor was dated but housekeeping kept in very clean. We liked having a kitchen so we didn't have to eat out all the time. There is also parking if you rent a car. We had a wonderful time and I would recommend it to anyone.

Overall it was still a good hotel to stay because of the price and pretty close to beach and shopping location.

This is my third time staying here always clean and staff friendly close to transport with taxi just outside .Beach only five minute walk. Shop in building for last minute buys ,tennis and pool available.Good for familys and people travelling

this hotel is very old out dated and to make it comfortable have to paid extra * a night upgrade to the new room, this is not 3 star hotels....only stayed for 3 night out of 6 nights... not coming back again...

If you're looking for an inexpensive, conveniently located hotel this is the place for you. It's not fancy by any means, but for the price, it's a good bargain. The rooms are fairly big and the kitchens are fully stocked with cooking/eating utentsils. The ice-maker in the fridge is a bonus. Yes, the rooms are outdated and not sparkling clean but you're also not paying + a night. I would recommend staying here if you want to do Hawaii on the cheap.

The condo halls look like dormitory hall ways and the lobby is on the shabby side, the room however was very nice. Newly renovated, great for family and doing meals, view from 29th flr great but you overlooked hotel roof tops and A/C units. We wanted to be on the beach and this was our second choice. The beach however was very noisy and busy.It was a trade off and in the end we were very happy.

Staff was very friendly. Nice flower arrangements in the lobby. Liked the balcony. The hotel itself needs some renovation, like new kitchen cabinets, etc. Overall, I enjoyed my stay at Waikiki Sunset. I liked the view that I had from my corner bedroom. The staff was very nice and friendly. I'm still not sure if they were changing the bed sheets everyday, it looked like they did? Also, I liked that they clean the rooms every day and changed our towels.

Views from one bedroomed mountain side, beautiful. Size of rooms great, good beds. Near to Zoo, river, 2 short blocks from beach. All you need in rooms, fridge, cooker, microwave, all kitchen utensils etc. Washer, dryer on most floors. Supermarket and shops near by, small shop on site. Those are the good points. The hotel pool area is shabby, the pool is out of the sun most of the day as it is overshadowed by taller hotels. The hotel is run down, it needs modernising, the rooms are dated, so are the bathrooms, well worn decorations, furniture, equiptment, electricals. A few "funny" smells in cupboards, on carpets. If you want a quiet hotel in a good position, room for a family, not worried about decoration or luxury, reasonable value for money for size of accomodation, this is OK. If you want anything more or are looking for luxury, this is not for you. Staff were always polite and helpful, some people complained about the lifts, we had no problems with them at all.

My wife and I and our 3 daughters (13 year old and 3 year old twins) stayed at the Aston Waikiki from 2/18/09 thru 2/25/09. We had a one bedroom suite and had plenty of room for the family .It was nice to have our own room and the kids were in the living room. It was also nice to use the stocked kitchen to eat breakfast and some meals in. The location is excellent and staff is very friendly. They offer complimentary towel service on the 4th floor and the room was clean. Parking is $11/per day but is reasonable for the area. The only negative was that the pool was too cold for us. We would recommend and would stay again.

We stayed in a 1Bedroom condo with a full kitchen. Sure the bed didn't have 700 thread count linen, there wasn't a giant sized bath, there was inly 1 TV and it wasn't a Plasma or LCD BUT... If you are looking for most oi the basic necisities of home with a full kitchen (to save money for breaky) then this is a great property for you. Our other relatives had a 2 Bedroom and it had an unobstructed view of Diamond Head-just gorgeous!! Our 1 bedroom faced the beach and had a nice obstructed view. Ask for a top floor for less obstruction. The pool was clean and the entire family (10 in total) swam there about 4 days that we wee there. The tennis court was never in use when we were at poolside. The pool maybe had 4 people in it that wasn't family at any given time. The staff were great from the cleaning lady to the towel dept and the front desk and security personnel were friendly too. The only negative that I can remember is that the suites were looking a bit dated. We paid * for the 1 bedroom and the 2 bedroom went for */night -We are Entertainment card holders. Great location - 5 min walk to the pier and we snorkled early in the morning in the lagoon area (beach side of the break water). Lots of restaurants nearby. I would highly recommend this property!!

The view from room 3608 was AWESOME! Could see Diamond Head and a large expanse of the ocean. Was able to use the travel service for all of the different things we wanted to do. The beach was really only 2 blocks away and there was easy access to shopping, restaurants, public transportation, and anything tourist-y that you can imagine for Waikiki. We didn't mind hearing the hustle and bustle since we are from a large city. The bonus was being able to hear the peacocks, monkeys, tigers and elephants from the nearby zoo.

This hotel had a beautiful view, not right on the beach but close enough. The room was perfect for a traveling family. It had a full kitchen and was fantastic for us. It was a little bit older looking, but well worth it.

The room was well above our previous experience at similarly rated hotels -- the bedroom, bathroom, and living room were all very spacious, and the kitchen had EVERYTHING, including fridge, stove, plates, and silverware. The view was nice, and we were a 10 minute walk to the beach. The bus terminal was at the end of the block, which let us get around easily when we didn't feel like driving. The activities coordinator was also very supportive, and helped us avoid a few events / areas that were shut down from the heavy rain. Without his connections, we would have wasted hours driving to spots that were closed to the public.

Horrible Hotel, rooms are old and outdated, furniture is beat up, beds are uncomfortable, A/C does not work properly, Elevators take forever, bathtub is designed for midgets. This property is being advertised as a hotel, it is NOT. It's a condotel. The only good thing this property has it's Location. Will never stay there again.

The Aston Waikiki Sunset is at a great location! Just a 2 minute walk to the beach, half a block from the main bus street. The rooms are simple, roomy with a full kitchen. But it shows its age. The tub was stained. You could see wall repairs done with layer upon layer of paint. The bathroom faucet leaked into a daily pool of water on the counter. But for the price, not a bad deal. They have a great concierge on-site that will book any of your tourist activities. Housekeeping was attentive, the staff friendly. You have to pay extra to use the in room safe, but it's minimal. There is no on-site restaurant or room service. Other reviewers mentioned bugs in the room. We didn't see any, although we did see a roach in the hallway on 2 separate days. We didn't get a remodeled room, so this review is based on one of the older, original rooms.

The staff was extremely accommodating and the location was walking distance to beach. The first room I received smelled like urine, hotel staff willingly upgraded me to another room with an ocean view. For the money, you definitely could not beat this hotel. I received an upgrade from a single room to a double room initially, and then was further upgraded when I stated the room smelled bad. The new room had a great view, but could use some updating. The bathroom floor had some cracks and the elevators were hard to catch at times. The staff was excellent!

Our family really enjoyed the 1 bedroom condo/apt. It was not fancy but it was respectably clean, my husband and I had the privacy of a bedroom, the kids had a queen size sofa bed, and we all had the advantages of a real kitchen. All staff with whom we came in contact were pleasant and helpful and the coin laundry was a nice benefit. The convenience store had a good selection at decent prices. I am considering another stay there within the next six month. And BTW...renovations began the week of our stay.

We came to Hawaii to get married. We found this condo hotel a wonderful place to stay. With a nice sized living room, full kitchen and seperate bedroom, we were able to spread out and enjoy ourselves. The bathroom is nice sized and has plenty of hang up space for clothes. The closets in the bedrooms are big too. It is much roomier than most hotel rooms I have stayed at in this area. Most are very small and cramped. The Sunset may not be the fanciest place but if you are looking to an alternative to a small closet type hotel room, this is the place. We had a beautiful view of the city and the mountains. Absolutely beautiful at night. It is a non-smoking facility but if you are a smoker, there is a designated area on the pool deck and out front. We met a bunch of wonderful people in the smokers areas and had a kind of community sharing our days adventures with each other. There is a convience store in the hotel for snacks and soda and other items. Kitchen was well stocked with dishes, silverware, etc. There is a coin laundry on every floor which worked well for us.

Our stay at the Waikiki Sunset was not laiden with a luxurious resort feel, and some would look at it and say that it was not of the same quality of some of the more fancy resorts along the strip. While this is true to a certain degree, this is why we chose this resort. We wanted a more "at home" feel to things. We felt as though we had our own little condo in Waikiki. Our 36th floor mountain view was just breathtaking! We upgraded to a newly renovated room(totally worth it), and loved it. The rooms were very spacious and clean. The staff was friendly, and while we were very busy and out enjoying the sunshine, we would come back to fresh towels and a turned down bed each evening. We loved the kitchenette for easy breakfasts and the laundry facilities on each floor. This was great for our family vacation and we plan to stay here on our next visit to the island.

Customer service was very poor. Front desk service. Front desk had poor customer service skill. There were dirty towels in the room. Brown marks on towels does not make a good impression
