We transferred to the Banyan for the remaining 4 days of our 10-day Waikiki stay and wished we had stayed here first instead of the Aston Resortquest Waikiki Beach. The $95/day we paid was an incredible bargain for what we got. I even had relatives who told me they paid more when they stayed there previously or at another hotel. The room was spacious with a fully stocked kitchen, living room and bedroom. Travelling with three teenagers, my husband and I were thankful for the 2 full beds and sofa bed that accommodated everyone, even local friends who stayed overnight. The staff was incredibly warm and friendly, from the desk clerks to the maids, maintenant guys, and parking attendants -- everyone made us feel welcomed. The only downside was the small pool that only gets sun during the morning because one of the 2 towers blocks the afternoon so you can only sunbathe during the a.m. Then again, you can walk to the nearby Waikiki Beach to tan. The convenient Sam's Snack Bar near the pool was a great bargain that offered large portions. The guy who ran the snack bar was also incredibly nice & funny. The pool was open until 9 pm; however, guests can stay around the pool area for quiet time after hours (much better than Resortquest which closes the pool sharply at 7 pm and won't allow guests to sit around afterwards). The pool area had an amazing recreation area with BBQs and tennis and basketball courts for rent. I also love the fact there were coin-operated washers and dryers on every floor after the 7th floor so we didn't have to find off-site laundromats. Parking was a reasonable $10/day, so much cheaper than everywhere else in Waikiki! The location was in a quiet area and within walking distance of Waikiki Beach, the zoo, aquarium, Kapiolani Park, and other great attractions. We also liked the location since it was near Kapahulu Ave., which allowed us to slip in and out of Waikiki and avoid the super busy side near Ala Moana and the marina areas. Kapahulu Ave. was als

I liked the central location to the beach, International Marketplace, shops and restaurants. I had to pay for parking. A good hotel for the money. I liked the space in the room with a fully functioning kitchen. The beds were pretty hard but over all a good experience.

In terms of location, I thought this hotel is superb. But facilities, such as kitchen and funiture are old, they need to be upgrated. However, this hotel is good and convenient for family use and good value for money in Waikiki area.

We had a great stay at Waikiki Banyan. We took our 3 children (ages 13,11 and 7.) The beds were very comfortable. This could be due to the fact that we did so much during the day that we were too exhausted to care at night. The kitchen was great for snacks, breakfast and making picnic lunches to eat while we were out exploring. The decor was outdated, maybe late 70's, early 80's, but who cares....we were in Hawaii. It was very clean and the shower worked great. That was what was important to us. We were on the 32nd floor and had a view of Diamond Head and the Pacific. Tower I did partially obstruct our view but who cares....we were in Hawaii. We were one block away from Waikiki Beach and a few blocks over from the International Market. We did not mind the walks b/c we would see entertainment along the way in the evenings when the street performers were out doing their activities and it was good exercise. We never had to wait long for the elevator and we always had a quick trip the the lobby. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Actually, everyone who worked on Oahu was friendly and helpful. We have no complaints as far as the hotel or Hawaii goes. We hope to return soon and would definitely consider staying at the Banyan.

Me, my wife and our three kids (3, 4 and 13) were very satisfied with the hotel. The front desk personnel and cleaning staff was helpful and friendly. Everything (the beach, restaurants, shopping and several convenience stores) was within a five minute walk. And, our room provided us with a clean and decent place to shower, sleep and eat breakfast. We used the kitchenette every morning to cook some spam & eggs, brew a pot of coffee and cut up fresh fruits in order to save money and time. Our room was on the 36th floor with a mountain view. Before the kids woke up every morning, I sat on the balcony enjoying the warm tropical breeze and watching the clouds move over the mountain. Very relaxing. Other hotel offerings: a small convenience store with a small selection of drinks, snacks, toiletries, etc., a small cafe-like restaurant, a pool area with a barbecue area, snack bar and playground. My only complaint: the slow and hot elevators. They can take some time to arrive and may stop at several floors before arriving at your desired floor. I would definitely stay here again. A great hotel for the price.

Awesome location and the view and room were great but the sleeper sofa was in dire need of replacement. The chairs in the condo and the lanai were uncomfortable.

Location, size of room and friendliness of staff. Rooms, bathrooms were dated. Hotel location and friendliness of staff was excellent. Common areas were clean and enjoyable. View from lanais was excellent.

This hotel is not all it is cracked up to be. We purchased an oceanview room with king bed through an online travel website for my parents 50th Anniversary. They arrived and it was a room with twin beds and the oceanview was when you looked a certain way through buildings and caught a glimpse of the ocean. It was a total disappointment. It is an old hotel, which is ok but it needs to be renovated. Rooms are clean, but old!

I moved my 91 year old mother from Honolulu last year to Arizona, and this was her last visit home to see family, and friends. The whole experience here at this resort was beyond excellent! Mahalo to the staff, for making this trip memorable. The "condo" , the view, the location, EVERYTHING, was amazing. While she will not be able to return, I will, and this "Home away from home" will be where I plan on staying once again. Mahalo once again to the staff, for providing a memorable , and easy trip for my mothers last visit. Her daughter, MorningStar Wilson.

The kitchenette was great and the rooms were very clean. Was a great deal for the price. Also parking was only $10.00 per 24 hours, a lot less than most places.

Concierge was very helpful. Staff was very friendly and accomodating. Room was perfect. Needs a nicer restaurant. The Banyan was perfect for my family of five. Enough room for a queen size airbed along with the two double beds and the queen size sofa bed. Kitchen had every utensil and was clean. A block away from the beach and close to public transportation and grocery stores. Staff was friendly and courteous. Will definitely stay there again.

We were very pleased with the Resort. The front desk was very helpfull and friendly and the lobby is cute too. We were on the top floor (38th) and the view was beautiful. The room is spacious and clean with a very nice view from the bedroom window also. We will definitely refer to family and friends.

This hotel was a good value for me. Close to the beach and nightlife. The whole city is rather noisey at night. We slept with all windows and door to lanai open at night because weather was wonderful and no bugs. If you are looking for highly decorated up to the minute decorating this is not for you. If you want clean accomodations with great value this is it. The hotel has open lobby...open to the outdoors! The only concern for me was the pool was salt water. Aloha and Mohalo!

came here to get married!! most friendly staff ever! After traveling for over 12 hours, it was nice to be greeted by an amazing staff... they put smiles on our faces and showed amazing aloha ^___^. the rooms were fantastic, clean, and meet everyone of our needs! the location was the best aswell! just a block from Waikiki and a couple from international market. we have been to waikiki many times before, but this was our first time at this hotel. all I can say is that I read reviews about this hotel before coming and I was a little afraid because of some negative reviews. all that went out the window! this place was amazing and I didn't experence anything negative. the staff made this hotel the best! thank you cliff and clarance!! and thank you Aston Waikiki banyan for beautiful memories and unbelivable service!!!

It's a good hotel for families or a friends getaway, but I wouldn't recommend it for a honeymoon or romantic getaway. The rooms come with a kitchen which is pretty convenient. You can buy groceries and cook (the food in Waikiki is pretty expensive and/or mediocre). (Please note that the cleaning staff do not take care of the dirty dishes - you will have to wash them yourself). I slept on the fold-out bed which was pretty crappy but the regular beds seemed fine. If decor matters to you, the furniture does look outdated and run down, but the point is to venture outside on the beach, not stay indoors. There is a pool, two jacuzzis, a tennis court, a little playground on the sixth floor along with a snack bar that also has a variety of meals you can order if you're too lazy to go outside. The rec area is open until 9pm. The snack bar and mini-mart on the ground floor are your only options for food in the hotel. However, there are plenty of restaurants in the area. There is a concierge from 8am-5pm with whom you could book your excursions. My one complaint would be the elevators. They can take a really long time. One was being revamped, one frequently broke down so there would be two elevators for 37 floors. Once I waited 15 minutes for an elevator. The cleaning staff also use the same elevators (there is no freight/employee elevator). Just expect that when you go, and have fun!

Our experience at the Banyan was excellent. We arrived 4 hours before check in and our room wasnt ready but the wonderful staff upgraded our room at no additional expense so we could check in immediately! Our room was clean and comfortable with a full kitchen which really cuts down on eating costs. The hotel is about a block from the beach and many shops and restaurants. We would definately stay there again.

We were supposed to get a 'Superior City View" room but on arrival we were assigned a 16th floor view toward Diamondhead. I say "toward" because all we could see were other hotels and through a narrow slit between them a bit of mountain range and a VERY small bit of ocean. We definitely didn't see Diamondhead. We were "offered" an upgrade first at $* a night, then when we refused that, they offered an upgrade for $* a night, thus the title of this review, Bait and Switch. As we are retired and on a fixed income, this was not an option. The check-in clerk's attitude was "Take it or leave it". The room was ok but old, everything worked and the bed was comfortable. The room is large and if you want to do your own meals (we didn't), this is will work for you. If you go by the pictures they have on their site, better be prepared to pay for a top-dollar room, otherwise you will be disappointed. The word "Superior" means nothing at this hotel. We had very little contact with the personnel as we were out and about most of the time, so can't comment on that aspect. They charge $* a week for Internet but we were able to lock on to an unsecured wi-fi from some other source (probably the next door hotel) for free.

This place is a great deal for the money, you can walk to EVERYTHING!!!!!!!Waikiki beach is just a block away!!!!!!You can go to the Food Pantry, and get all the food you need to cook. The kitchen has EVERYTHING you will need to cook from burgers to pasta, even the strainer is there. Great for when you have a family. I stayed there with three teenagers and an 11 year old and we had a rollaway bed put in and they did not charge me extra. They are extremely courteous and maid service is excellent, not a single bug. Can't wait to go back.
