Not bad - we used it mainly for sleeping and was essentially a base camp for other activities on the island. The rooms and hotel are old, but the last minute price was right. Located just north of Black Rock and the mega-resorts of Kaanapli.

The grounds were old Hawaiian style, beautifully maintained. Couldn't say anything negative. We were pleasantly surprised by the amenities of this hotel. The recent renovations to the grounds and pool areas have made this a first rate choice for future visits to the island of Maui.

These are essentially condo's managed by ResortQuest. The condo we stayed in was in an excellent location within the resort and was very well managed & serviced. The furnishings were fantastic & provided a perfect setting for comfort & relaxation. We would definately recommend this accommodation & Maui to anyone looking for beautiful natural scenery, water sports & enjoyment of the island without all the hussle & bussle of Honolulu.

Just returned from a week long stay at this wonderful resort. I am so glad that we decided to stay in Kaanapali as it is the best beach on Maui! We stayed in a studio garden view condo and were not disappointed. Had a really nice, large balcony with 2 chairs, table and lawn chair with a view of the pool and it was a short walk to the beach and boardwalk for morning walks. It was great to cook some meals and the staff was really nice and accomodating. We had a late night flight and they stored our bags, gave us shampoo and towels so we could shower in the fitness center prior to our flight. The beach was excellent and there were always enough lawn chairs for sunning. Snorkeling was fantastic all along Kaanapali, I would swim north of the resort as there are many corral reefs for great fish viewing! Do buy a CD if you plan to make the trek to Hana - there are many great tips to finding sites that you would not normally know about as there are no signs on the road to Hana for wateralls, black sand beaches etc... I will definitely recommend the Kaanapali Villas and will always stay here when I visit Maui! Mahalo!

Overall this Hotel provided great service, fast and freindly check-in and check-out. Conveniently located and close to shopping, Star Market is across street and ABC store is a few blocks away. There are also some small touristly gift stores and eateries across the street. We did have trouble keeping the sliding doors to the lanai lined up. We would open the doors at night or have coffee on the lanai in the morning. Then after being out all day, we would come back to a warm room. After we were instructed by the heplfull staff on how to line up the sliding door so the sensors would line up, we had no more trouble and came back to a cool room. This Hotel room lacked addicate cookware. One small frying pan wasn't quite enough to prepare a meal with

Recently headed off to Maui with my new wife on our honeymoon, we spent 8 days at this resort and had an incredible time on the island. The staff at this hotel was nothing but smiles, and were quickly responsive to our own and others requests. Extremely helpful and informative about the island and its attractions and we were both made to feel very much at home during our stay. The room was gigantic and newly remodeled, stone floors, marble top counters and full kitchen, simply decorated in island theme and clean as a whistle. We stayed in a condo unit, and could see many other rooms that were just as nice if not exceedingly so to the one we had, and even larger sizes!! We were very impressed and very pleased. On top of a great staff and excellent, large rooms, the location of this hotel is about as good as it gets. Its just a few miles north of Lahaina where you'll find excellent shopping, food, and non stop entertainment, along with the "Banyan Tree", a few miles south of the big water beaches on the northern side of the island and just outside your doors at this hotel, and all along the Kaanapali beach in fact, you'll find rather calm, nearly salt free, crystal clear water and soft, secluded sand beaches. Important tip! This hotel sits next to the Westin, between the 2 hotels is a beach park, at the beach park there, (which could be easily mistaken as the hotels due to its proximity) there is a lot of hard, sharp reef, cool for snorkeling, bad for swimming and playing in the waves, don't go there unless you want to snorkel, the beach for the hotel however is gotten to by walking past the pool and shuffleboard area, its a perfect beach, no coral, soft sand, almost no waves, nobody bothers you, and you could almost drink the water the salt content is so low there. This hotels beach is great, the beach park next door, not so great... adding to that, my wife and I, ventured out to other beaches on the island to explore and spend time and found that all the beaches her

This is my second time at Kaanapali Villas. The first time our company's travel agent suggested it as one of the best options for the money. I agree with her and I came back this year. Positive: nice, large rooms. Our one-bedroom in the main building was huge, the kitchen had everything one can think of. It would benefit from some updates, but it was ok. If it doesn't work, tell them they fix it same day. The studio we stayed in last time was updated and very spacious too. The property is small but is well maintained, there is a decent size pool and a bar. The hotel's own beach is very nice but if you drive about a mile down you get to Black Rock, possibly the best romantic sunset and snorkeling place in Maui . So, the place is well positioned on the West coast, not too close to the North with its violent surf and close enough to Lahaina, which is just a short drive away. Negative, if any: no breakfast, there is some noise from the highway if you stay in rooms facing it, there's nearly no gym (well, there's a small room next to laundry room packed with treadmills, but it's more a storage room, not a real gym), and some rooms are sold to private owners (its a condo). These owners do not want you take their parking spots an will yell at you while the hotel security would look other way (thats what happened to me). Anyway, just stay away from these people and Kaanapali Villas would prove to be a great choice.

This hotel was part of a package deal and on the lower end of the price list. Especially good price for Lahaina area. Its not an expensive hotel (5 star)but it's a really good value for your money so we gave it a 4 star rating. We were pleasantly surprised!! The front desk very was organized and showed much aloha. Check-in and Check-out a breeze! No real complaints except small/soft bed pillows - but they brought more pillows upon request. Both pools were about average. The 2nd pool was a little small for my taste since I like to swim laps but the pool was still adequate. The Castaway restaurant had affordable burgers and salads, pupus and happy hour 3-6 pm - also had higher end entrees. Other expensive restaurants in Lahina and other hotels if thats your thing. It was quiet and peaceful. Parking easy. Good location. No problems. No hassle. Very happy. It was a great hotel for the package deal. I would stay there again.

I love this place I have actually stayed their twice. The second time I recommended it for a whole wedding party because I like it so much the first time around. Although it is not in the middle of everything it is beautiful, but the best part is the beach. The rooms are comfortable and kept well but I like being out by the water. They have a great restaurant with good food but the nice thing is the beach as not as crowded. You get to have the beauty of Maui with out all the kaos of crowds. The gounds of the facitliy are beautiful and if you need anything or want a social atmosphere you are a 10 minute drive away from Lahina. I think you get more than what you expect when you stay here.

I carefully read all the reviews of this hotel before I booked it so I was prepared to deal with the few negative comments I had read. To my surprise, our room was much better than I expected. I was really impressed with the kitchen with its granite countertop, full size refrigerator, microwave, full size stove and oven, extra large sink with garbage disposal, dishes, pot and pans, and most of all the dishwasher! Our garden view studio was a lot bigger than I expected and actually had a partial view of the ocean. We had no problems whatsoever with the staff. They were all very friendly and helpful. I spent a lot of time on our balcony and could always see the staff cleaning the pool, trimming plants and picking up leaves from the well manicured lawn. The only complaints I have are with the outdated air conditioner that didn't seem to blow enough cool air. We requsted a fan which was quickly delivered to our room and fixed the problem. Another complaint was with the fitness room. Although the pictures on Orbitz showed less than what was actually there (there was another room with a bunch of machines), it did not have very many dumbbells. The location was also bad at the very back of the hotel where all the maintenance people keep their equipment. It would have been nice to work out with a view of the ocean. But all in all, the price was great and it had everything we needed including on site laundry facility.

Even though this was a condo, housekeeping still came and cleaned, changed the towels and made the beds. The employees were very nice and helpful. We had trouble with the air conditioner making a noise and the employees quickly fixed it. The beach walk was nice and the beach access was great. We felt like we had a little bit of luxury without paying the price.

Kaanapali Villas" is an old resort that is in bad need of renovation. If, in spite of this review, you do decide to rent one of the condos here, at least make sure to stay away from the ground-floor units. We had a misfortune to rent one of these (#114186, unit #109), and while the owner furnished it reasonably well, the lack of natural light, noticable "moldy" smell (one of us had a asthma flare up) and showers with major draining issues forced us to move to an adjacent hotel after only two nights. Our unit's lanai had a view of the main property driveway, and the entire hotel really has no grounds to speak of. The owner also failed to mention that the only large pool on the property was closed and being rebuilt. To make things worse, it is practically impossible to avoid the construction area on your way to the beach. All in all, this was not an experience we were looking for during our first ever trip to Hawaii. Fortunately, there were rooms available at the wonderful Sheraton resort just half-a-mile away, which proved to be a night-and-day improvement over Kaanapali Villas, at a slight premium in rate. Basically, the only advantage Kaanapali Villas has is a kitchen in the condo - you decide if this is the most important thing for you in Hawaii.

Great location tucked between higher priced hotels. There are a wide selection of room locations, all with kitchenettes. The beach front was perfect. During our stay, we rotated activities such as parasailing, kayaking & snorkeling, a Luau and a trip to Hana with simply hanging out at the beach or pools and enjoying the incredible, soothing afternoon trade winds. This was our 2nd stay at this location and we will definitely return, hopefully not waiting so long between visits.
