We stayed in a studio style and it was perfect. The kitchenette really kept the food bills in check. Also every room is an ocean view, and ours was great. No on-site restaurant, but other hotels with them are within walking distance. For the price this was a great hotel. not extremely fancy, but it was clean and comfortable. Highly recommend.

All units face the ocean. Just minutes north of Lahaina and the marina. Well appointed kitchen makes for a good dining option. Private balconies. Free Parking. Because of the rock formations, the swimming areas are located up and/or down the beach.

It was right on the beach. Very laid back. Did not have vending machines. We had a room that you could walk out our door and be on the beach. It was quite and peaceful. We are planning a trip next year and we are going to stay at this same hotel.

My wife and I enjoyed our stay at the Mahana. After sifting through the wide variety of inexpensive condo-like places to stay, I was impressed at the number of good reviews this resort received. It lived up to my expectations....and exceeded them. The view was amazing. Right on the beach. Clean. Courteous and helpful staff. Pool and hot tub were great. We used the grills for a few cheap dinner cookouts. Great location....easy access to food stores, places to eat, etc. As most of the reviews have pointed out, this place does not have luxury written all over it. It has value written all over it. If/when we return to Maui, we will definitely stay here again!!

The bathroom we had only had a shower and we would have prefreed a whrilpool or tub. There was no fitness center at the hotel. Other than that I enjoyed my stay. When I return I'll probably try another hotel. The hotel was nice and quiet. I enjoyed laying on the beach and reading. There was no restaurants in our hotel.

Loved it. But then again, my girlfriend and I are simple people. We just wanted a nice ocean view, a basic kitchen, a clean room and an affordable price. The Mahana fulfilled our needs with amazing sunsets and quiet nights. Loved walking a few steps to the sandy shore and doing our morning runs. Loved the grills provided by the pool. Loved the Star Market in walking distance. Loved this excellent bargain in Kaanapali. As a young couple my only complaint would be old 80's decor and senior citizen home quietness. Still, what do you expect for that money?

My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights and 4 days. This was our first trip to Maui so we don;t have a basis for comparison with other hotels. But we did like our stay here. We took a studio room. All the rooms in this hotel face the beach front so no confusions in getting a ocean front room. The room was spacious and best thing was it had a full blown kitchen with microwave, fridge, blender, coffee maker and even a dishwasher! They had even provided some plates, bowls, glasses and cups. They have a washer/dryer unit too inside the room. I just wish their website would mention that they had all these included. My only complaint is they do not clean the rooms daily. The maid service does change the towels, but they do not make the beds or clean the room. They apparently do it only every 4 days. Since we come back from the beach everyday, the room does get sandy. Otherwise our stay here was very pleasant. Would definitely recommend it!

Our condo was very nicely decorated. It was updated with granite tops and modern kitchen applicances and travertine flooring. The condo looked very clean and well kept. The living room windows from ceiling to floors allows full ocean view. ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!!! The grounds and pool area are very well kept and maintained. There is a market conveniently located across the street. The only negative about the Mahana is that there is no restaurant or pool bar. The staff members are polite and pleasant. The Mahana exceeded my expectations and I highly recommend staying there.

I chose this hotel for my honeymoon, based on the Orbitz reviews. Unfortunately, I don't think anyone reviewing it went there on a honeymoon. This property is great if you have a family and don't want to spend the money on meals each day (rooms have a kitchen) and don't care about amenities and super-cleanliness. But this is not the resort-experience you might expect from Maui. The views were spectacular, and pool was clean. Otherwise, the room was not very clean upon arrival and the housekeepers only come every fourth day (other than giving you new towels, making the bed, and emptying the trash). We asked the front desk twice to vacuum the old food out of the couch, and change the sheets (there were stains on them), but none of these were done, nor did we receive an apology. The rooms are all decorated according to the condo owners' tastes, so that adds to the uncertainty of what you're going to get. There's also no gym or restaurant. All in all, it's a nice place to stay with great views, but definitely not a "hidden treasure" when you consider the lack of service or amenities that you could get at another equally-priced hotel. I won't stay here again unless I have three kids that will dirty up a room anyway. And I will definitely do more-than-Orbitz research before booking a romantic getaway.

The only negatives about this place are the bed comfort, very firm beds!!! Also there is no dinning or bar on site. Nearby hotels have dining and bars so its not a big issue. We loved the location. Every room opens right to the ocean which was beautful. We never shut our slider door, slept with it open to hear the waves breaking. We were in an upgraded room which was beautful. The kitchen came in very handy and we had a wash/dryer. We can't wait to go back.

The hotel was very nice: clean, excellent staff, rooms well furnished, barbeque area, within minutes of restraunts and adventures. The beach was wide, views of two other islands and we could see whales surfacing. We also saw two Monk Seals, which are almost extinct. Snorkeling was done in front of the hotel or swimming about 150 yards either direction. There were three fitness centers only a few minutes away. This was our favorite vacation yet!!

What a stunning sunset to view from my wonderful room/condo. Absolutely glorious! And to see it for seven nights in a row I couldn't ask for anything better.

The best vacation we have had in years. We tried to arrange it ourselves but could not beat Orbitz prices. The Hotel they have chosen is unbelieveable. It has everything you could possibly want. The island is just perfect from the things to do,the road systems, and entertainment and places to eat. You simply could not want a better place to enjoy life for a couple of weeks. With Orbitz making all of the travel arrangements the vacation could not have been better.

I chose this hotel based on much research, speaking with the front desk, and watching the virtual tour. I was still a little skeptical - but I was really surprised and pleased when we arrived! In the past year my husband and I have stayed at 2 seperate 5 star resorts - and this room was just as nice - if not better! Our condo had granite countertops, a fully stocked kitchen with full size fridge, stove, and dishwasher. There was a beautiful bathroom and a washer/dryer. The furniture and bed were good. The floor to ceiling window in the living room captured the beautiful view! Talk about being right on the ocean!! There is also a beautiful lanai - we would sleep with the door open and listen to the ocean. These units also have A/C & we had no problem with it. My sister and her husband also went with us and their condo was even better than ours! (They were both very nice). The pool and hot tub are cleaned daily and housekeepers clean your room daily. The Bad: The concierge pushes timeshares and one couple told us they were promised it would take only 2 hours and it really took 7! Don't get sucked into this and waste your time in paradise unless you are really serious about buying!! Also, there are no restuarants on site but plenty of them close by! Best place to hang out and to find places to eat: Front Street Great FREE activities: visit Iao Valley and the Plantation Best helicopter ride: Blue Hawaiian Tip: Get groceries at the Walmart near the airport for best prices!! We will stay here again and I have recommended it to all our friends. We were very happy here!

This was my second stay to the Mahana, in 8months, I went the first time for 5days, and it was so great I had to come back, so did 8 more. You want a great vacation on the beach, with a ton of snorkeling and swimming in the ocean, then here ya go. There is no better ocean view on the beach. The snorkeling is up and down the beach, both directions, filled with sandy beaches and coral in the water with a ton of fish, turtles etc..There is no restaraunt or bar, but there is several within walking distance, barbecue grills at the Mahana, so its great, there is a pool, but the ocean is right there.

It was better than what we expected. You are right on the beach and the view from the room was unbelievable. The staff was friendly and helpful. The internet virtual tour (may have been done a while ago-there is a beautiful hot tub area not shown) does not do it justice, it is better than portrayed. The kitchen and laundry area made things extremely convenient My husband and I were celebrating our 11th anniversary and the studio room was cute and perfect for us. Watching the sunset from the balcony was unforgetable. We have decided to return in 5 years and want to try to get the exact same room.

This is a unique experience, given that these are thousand dollar plus a square foot Condos ( a million bucks to buy a one bedroom, thus great rental value at these discounted rates) - which are nicely laid out in a super location, literally 50 feet from the Surf. Modern building restrictions regarding setbacks from the water make it unlikely that a project like this could be built as close to the waters edge as this one was back in the mid 1970s. The units have been nicely upgraded, the staff is great. Step out on the beach and one can walk for miles, or lounge under one of the trees along the beachfront. Great snorkeling on the Reef, but remember to bring those rubber reef shoes so as not to get cut on the coral. When the Trade Winds pick up in the afternoon, the Kite Boarders come out to play, soaring into the air as they tack off of their beachside turn, something which one never tires of watching while sitting out on the deck. If one is looking for a quiet, non resort style accommodation, where one can be on the water, but a bit away from the typical resort / hotel experience, then this is the one for you. We loved it, and will always go back. One thing which is not quiet is the ocean, which one is right next too. Some may find the level of surf sound overpowering when sleeping. Not a problem for us, but bring some of those soft foam earplugs just in case it is an issue (I use them on the airplanes anyway). Click on the virtual tour on the Mahanas website, experience the 360 pan view, and you will see it all.
