Our first room was dirty, the carpet was very old and stained, and the kitchen counters were broken and old. We were able to move into a newly remodeled room, which was much better. Don't stay here unless you get a remodeled room; without a decent room, this hotel would have a hard time getting one star. The location on Kaanapali Beach is a bit deceiving, as the hotel is on the extreme north end, away from the main part of the beach by several miles. The location is quiet as a result. The grounds are quite nice, with two separate pools and two hot tubs. Both pools are rather small, but it was nice to have a choice. The beach area is small. The Concierge desk is staffed by a travel company [...], and they were very helpful on advising the best tours to book.It was very convenient that there was a restaurant right next to the pool.

Beautiful grounds, spacious 1, 2 ,3 bedroom condos with beautiful ocean and garden view. Very clean with full kitchens.

We were upgraded to a partial oceanview on request, by a most pleasant desk clerk. Loved everything about this resort. G.& W. [] Canada

Our room was in need of a facelift. We had a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom "garden view" unit that appeared to date from the early 1980s and the fixtures and cabnets were very worn and dirty. It appeared that several of the condo units at this resort have been remodeled in recent years and I'm sure they are much nicer. The location of the resort is good but not as good as other locations on Maui; I would find a place further south on Kaanapali beach next time. The on-site resaurant is good but not great. There are 2 very nice swimming pools and spas on the property. This type of condo property is excellent for families with preteen and teenage children.

When booking this hotel we were told that we were going to be able to upgrade because we were honeymooners. When we arrived we were denied. They told us to come back a few days later and we still were denied. When we walked into our room, it was extremely dirty. There was hair on the floors, bottle caps laying around, and the vents had black on the ceilings. A few days later we could not find our bowls. Come to find out, they were still in the dishwasher from previous occupants. We requested our room to be cleaned again, but it still looked the same. The beds are as hard as rocks and lumpy. In the bathrooms we were scared to walk around barefoot so we wore sandels. The pools are extremely crowded, especially with children. So definately not the place for someone on their honeymoon. Little activity going on at the hotel, but they do have wonderful expensive drinks. My suggestion is to hit the happy hour. Overall was not impressed with the hotel, staff did not want to go out of their way to accommodate your needs. I would not reccomend staying here if you are on your honeymoon.

We arrived to the hotel at check-in time (3PM) and was told that our rooms were not ready and we needed to come back half an hour later. We had dinner and came back 45 minutes later. The room was still not ready. The girls at the front desk were stalling and gave a really bad first impression. It took over 15 minutes to finally get us a key. I didn't really dig the hotel. The couch gave us a rash.

Very friendly staff, pretty grounds. Very rough play in the pool, adults acting like children.

Nice facilities, but don't expect a 5 star hotel. Staff very helpful. Beach is rocky. Town is not far. Had a great stay there.

Aloha..... Our stay at the resort while visiting the Island in March 2009 was amazing!! Although, we had missed a day, due to missing our flight, we arrived to find friendly staff, which made our trip more enjoyable! Our room was spectacular and we cannot stop talking about how comfortable the bed was and how clean our room was. We didn't know what to expect, as we booked this trip last minute, but this resort exceeded our expectations!! We can't wait to return! Already looking to visit again in July, but this time not with my boyfriend, but hand in hand with my Fianc??! Thanks for the comfort and memories..... as we became engaged on this trip!! Mahalo, "

The resort was beautiful - we booked a non view room one bedroom standard and when we checked in we received an 8th floor non view with an incredible view of the ocean and Molokii island. The restaurant and lobby was beautiful. The property is beautiful, the staff is pleasant and friendly. The room was very nice. The beach on the property is beautiful, it isn't very expansive but the sand is great and clean, the kids loved the snokeling (two teenage boys) We have no complaints, if we ever get the opportunity to go again there is no doubt we would stay at Resort Quest Kannapali Shores. We received a 100 credit for the restaurant , buy 1 get 1 free for a luau and a discount book with coupons for food, attractions and gift shops. It was GREAT!

The Good Stuff: We had a fantastic view of the ocean, even though the woman checking us in said that studios did not have ocean views. She did her best by getting us a room on the 8th floor. The beach at the condo is very nice to go swimming or snorkeling. The location is great -- close to Lahaina and shopping centers. The Bad Stuff: Poor service. We felt the cleaning staff was inconsistent and lazy. They did not show up one day and said it was because we had the do not disturb sign out (only for 2 hours in the late afternoon). We called about a light out (never fixed). We called to have a wake up call - Didn't get the call on one day. When we first got to our room it smelled like cigarette smoke. They said they would refresh the room. Never did. We realized later that it came from the construction workers working in the next room. Good thing most of the days we were out early, because the construction workers started working at 8 AM. When we called the front desk, they would question us as if it was our fault things were not done. I feel that you get nickeled and dimed with the fees - parking, safe box, fitness center. We will not return to this condo because of the service.

Grounds were very nice, beach front, snorkeling right at hotel. Bathroom was kind of small. Separate shower/toilet would b nice. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was better than we expected it to be. We upgraded to a one bedroom unit when we got there which was very nice. Enjoyed the long sandy beach for walking. Would definitely recommend to friends.

When we booked online, we found the price to be very reasonable. The day we checked in, we later found out that we were being moved to another room due to a needed repair. One of the staff managers graciously upgraded our new room to compensate for the inconvenience, and because of that, I feel he went above and beyond to help us have a truly wonderful vacation. Staff was friendly, room was very clean. Totally relaxing vacation; great place for family vacation. Right on the sandy beach. Ahh....

Although our trip was a sidebar to another trip on Oahu, I fell in love with Maui and will plan to return and stay at ResortQuest Kaanapali Shores again. The value for the money was good and the full kitchen really helps when you want to watch your budget as the restaurants on the islands are expensive. We ate breakfast and lunch in our studio most of the time and ate dinners out. I recommend this to folks with families on a travel budget.

Good location. Kithcen had a lot of deferred maintenance. The fridge and dishwasher were old and needed to be replaced. They need to open their wallet and spend a little money on upgrading the kitchens in the rooms.

We were happy with the hotel overall except for the bed. We were thankful that we were upgraded to a 1bdrm with kitchen without requesting it. That was a bonus. But the refrigerator was noisy and sounded like a cat was trying to get out. And after 2 nights in that room the bed was so excruciatingly painful that they moved us to another room of the same category. But that bed was not much better and I came home with a very stiff neck and shoulders. You're supposed to rest well on vacations and because of the bed we did not. I found myself sliding towards my boyfriend because it was so soft! Everything else was fine, the location was good, the staff were polite and helpful, the parking was easy and housekeeping was responsive. I guess they couldn't do much about the beds. I have to take away one star because of that and I don't think I'd stay there again unless I checked to see that they changed the mattresses. I mean, you can't wake up in the mornings on your vacation with back, neck and shoulder pain!!

Stayed there for 4 nights, room was not clear, reception was always long wait and they are not helpful for changing rooms. I requested to change room when I find roaches there, they could not change until the next day, so I have a early check out. Only stay there for 3 nights instant.

My family of four had a great time at Kaanapali Shores. We stayed in a 1 BR "garden view" unit on the 8th floor. The room was much better than I expected and we had a beautiful view of the ocean from our lanai. The pools were both nice and the beach was awesome. Snorkeling was okay just down the beach form Kaanapali Shores, but we found some of the best snorkeling was down the road at Kapalua beach. We ate lunch once at the on-site restaurant by the pool. The food was just okay. Overall, we had a great time in Maui and I would recommend Kaanapali Shores to my friends.

I was surprised by the quality of the rooms. Nothing. I would recommend this to anyone!
