Disappointing 2nd visit.Accommodation excellent but let down by service/food at breakfast. The waiters spoke or understood very little english, the tea and coffee were cool, some of the food was not freshly cooked or not available. The waiters tried their best but I feel the manager should have arranged for them to be better supervised until further into their training.

Aston Hall was absolutley beautiful a great setting and cant faulth the food or the hotel itself.The only criticisms I would say are that when we went there was a wedding - was lovely to see everyone dressed up etc but as a normal resident the wedding simply took over the whole hotel, meaning that residents who were not involved were subjected to chaos everywhere and also there was no outlet for us to go. It mean we were stuck in a small bar , where guests were repeatedly told to go back to the bar outside which was especially for them. It was a lovely day also and the last thing we wanted to do was sit inside but because their was no additional seating we had to stay indoors.The wedding party were simply taking over the whole gardens.In terms of the room - I can see why it was cheap, it was lovely a clean, very small and the noisiest room ever. It sounded like their was a constant disco going on downstairs which kept me and my partner awake all night. Stratigically placed in the room was a very loud fan which when was on drowned out the sound of whatever the hell the noise was downstairs.

Beautiful Hotel - Fantastic ValueThe late rooms deal was incredible considering that I stayed in this luxurious hotel and the Ibis budget hotel was more expensive. I will defifnitely be returning to this hotel and booking through Late Rooms.

DJR of BicesterThe room was excellent and the discounted rate of £55 including breakfast was very good value indeed. As per previous reviews the restaurant is quite pricey. It was a pity that the more budget type meals shown on their room service menu were not available in the restaurant. However, compared to what you would expect for the same money at a travelodge or the like the experience was very pleasant.

Great rooms, could improve the food service and prices......I stay at this hotel because the rooms are great, although I recommend you don't go for the Superior Room - they tend to be either over Reception (noise of coming and going through the hotel front doors) or at the back (directly over the smokers' area - noise until after 11pm). I had to get moved on this occasion at about 10:30 due to the noise - I have to say, the Executive Room was just as good as the Superior Room - better, if you account for the quietness. Tip: always ask for a room in the West Wing.I ate out on one night at a pub nearby - much better value than the hotel. A steak on the second night in the hotel was average - 5 Jenga chips - pretentious at best. Also a pretentious 'muse-bouche' to begin with - tiny carpaccio of tuna with lime pickle. Frankly ruined my pallet for the steak to come - just too pretentious. This hotel just needs to focus on getting the basics of food right and it would be up there with the best, no doubt.Breakfast was in the permanent marquee at the back. Wafts of un-burnt gas from the temporary heater. Buffet breaksfast format much better than the previous 'make to order' process though, although plates were stone cold..... getting better on food, but some way to go.

Aston HallA fantasic hotel set in well maintained grounds, friendly and accommodating staff. Our room was in the newly built West wing light and airy, very spacious with satellite TV and coffee making facilities, the price included bed and breakfast. It would be nice if they supplied information on things to do in the local area...

Wonderful wedding weekend!I booked the room as i was attending a friends wedding, from the start the staff were helpful and polite, the room was lovley, just gorgeous, and very clean. It had everything you could possibly need for an overnight stay, my boyfriend joked that he could actually live there. Couldn't have asked for better.

Great value as stop over for long haul trip south ~ so close to motorway but a world away from motorway stop overs. Breakfast fine, plenty of choice.

Good food - shame about the service!The quality of the food was very good, but the quality of service in the restaurant went from bad, to embarrassing to Fawlty-esque. It took over 2 1/2 hours to get through a simple three course meal, simply because the staff were too busy serving other cstomers. If they can't cope with the numbers, they should not accept the bookings.

Very nice rooms, food and service around food - appallingThis hotel has got it right on the rooms - all moderns, spacious, well appointed and clean. The food is over-priced and mediocre at best. Portion sizes pitiful for the price. Breakfast service was a disaster this time I stayed - just not in control. This place is so convenient for the location I work at, especially if getting there late at night, like on this occasion, but prefer Ye Olde Belle at Retford - recommended to anyone over this place.

Large Room, great shower!Very nice hotel, grand entrance, friendly staff and quick check-in.Had a room in the West wing, lovely big room and a wet room type shower..fantastic!Didnt have dinner but enjoyed the ambience. Nice breakfast.Only wished I had more time to use gym and walk around the grounds.Will stay again.

Excellent ValueStayed in the Hall itself, rather than the attached annexe.Room very quirky, great bathroom - only downside was that you could tell that the original rooms had been divided and sound proofing wan't good enough. Slightly noisy neighbour could result in a poor night's sleepFood in restaurant excellent, though a little pricey

Always try to return here if in town on businessI have to admit that Aston Hall is a very nice hotel. I have stayed here with colleagues and alone a number of times and always received excellent service from staff. The rooms are large and airy and very well equipped. The whole atmosphere is excellent...the room rates are reasonable....but if i have one gripe it is the cost of eating in the restaurant...but heh ho the quality was excellent too. The day starts with a very good breakfast and I would thoroughly recommend this hotel. I may return with the family for a weekend break

Great rooms, let down by the food (again!).........I have to say the rooms and public areas of this hotel are really good. The food is however awful, small portions and massively over-priced. I have commented on this hotel before in these terms and see no difference. I stayed here again due to needing to make a last minute booking and not being able to get a room at Ye Olde Bell instead - probably equal on room, but way ahead of Aston Hall on food and service. Got a fantastic price for the room on Laterooms, which helped mitigate the high food and wine prices.

Wonderful luxury hotel on a budgetThe hotel was very good value - the cost of bed and breakfast was less than a budget hotel chain yet far superior room and with free wifi internet access which worked perfectly in my bedroom, not just in public areas. The grounds looked wonderful - shame I didn't have time to explore them. Parking was right outside reception and very convenient.

Excellent rooms - lovely hotel - would definitely recommend - staff friendly & helpful - food excellent. Did not stay long enough to appreciate the beautiful views but the setting is perfect.
