Aston at Papakea doesn't really care about how you feel about the conditions of their "resort" or how you are treated while you are there. I was originally given a very nice room, but not the room that I paid for. I paid for beach front. Not a break your neck view of the ocean from hanging out of the balcony. I called and was sent to a voicemail of the registration desk and waited for over an hour and a half and got no reply. I went back into the front desk and was told that was the the way it was and I started complaining in front of others that were checking in. They finally switched the room to the one that I originally booked only to get a great view with a totally torn down room. I took pictures of the room #A104 and they can be seen This room is a crack house and a disgusting mess. We can start with peeling paint and towel racks falling off the walls. Roaches outside around the lanai, noisy maintainance workers at 7 am. They just dont care about your stay. Only how to get your money. Its sad too. That could be a nice place. I will go to another resort in the future.

I was scared a bit after reading some review on other site but all those proved to be wrong, This has been an excellent place to stay duriing my 7 days long trip. The best part is Sea wall which is in the campus so if you are taking ocean view or ocean front room this ocean shores looks like just under your balcony. THe other Great thing is kitchen is fully equipped which infact made our trip more enjoyble as we are vegitarian and had to kook our dinner .

Good location on ocean, nice pools. Room was very outdated, poorly working appliances, bed rock-like. Overall the resort was nice, and well maintained. But obliviously some units are below par.

The resort has beautiful grounds and is walking distance to markets and restaurants. The unit was very comfortable, nice kitchen and living area, and had a beautiful view of the ocean.

Resort was okay but even though it was on the cheaper side, I probably would spend more money and stay somewhere else. we were really disappointed with the lack of beach in this general area. You could not access beach during the afternoon at all..tide was in. Room was not overly clean with lots of dust. Things in the unit were broken or not working such as toaster, kettle, hot water in shower, plugged shower, cupboard door falling off. However, the grounds were very well kept and putting greens were nice.

location great for us, we like this side of maui. condo was right size for the 3 of us. our large 12 year old said the sofa bed was good. property was well cared for and beautiful. would stay again and request the same room as long as the shower was repaired.

Very nice accommodations. The hotel had actually lowered the price. Very nice accommodations. Hotel and staff were terrific.

Very nice place. Called in advance to make sure we had a King size bed and was told that would be no problem. When we got there we were given a room with a Queen and second bedroom was a loft, too far away for our child. We went to the front desk and was told that they do not guarantee rooms even though I had called. They did give us another room. The unit was nice but needs some work. The kitchen cabinets all felt very sticky. We rented three condos, one was absoluely gorgeous, had been completely renovated, but all have walls of mirrors in the living room and none of them have been cleaned in a long time. They looked terrible. The pool was clean, barbecue arear terrifice and the view spectacular, staff very nice. Would we stay again.....maybe. Two of the three units definately could have been cleaner.

We went here with another family of 5 (10 of us all together...6 children). Our room was beautiful and had just been renovated. We had an ocean front room that opened out to a nice green area (grass) for the kids to run around and we were only steps away from the beach. I was sooo pleased with our room. Again, it was all new so the beds were very comfortable, we made breakfast every morning while washing our clothes in the washing machines. We used the blender to make margaritas and sat on the porch furniture and watched the view. It was amazing. I would love to stay there again and ask for the same room. Our friends were right above us in another ocean front room and theirs was just as nice. I personally enjoyed being on the bottom because we were able to walk out the sliding glass door to the beach and grass area. The house cleaners were fantastic. It was so nice to come back to a clean room . Also, there is a Safeway Grocery Store across the street. The prices were great and we were able to get so much there (boogey boards were only 10). when we first arrived we hit the Costco and got much of what we needed, but it was fun to run across the street each day to buy little things (also a good place to buy little gifts for friends). WE WILL BE BACK!

Everything was great except the bed was a little uncomfortable.

The room had an excellent, comfortable bed. Bathroom was small and outdated. Hotel was conveniently located near shopping and restaurants. No on site restaurant. Room was spacious with comfortable bed. Full kitchen. Although on the beach, beach was rocky and hotel grounds were separated by seawall. Beautiful grounds, good pool, very quiet.

This hotel/condo was wonderful. We stayed in C406 The room had 2 bedrooms each with a queen bed and a loft with twin beds. The unit was reasontly remodled and had a great veiw from the lani. The grounds were well kept. The kitchen had every thing needed to make great meals. This condo was great for the traveler that wants to make some of their own meals and go out some. Close to a store, bbq on site, Kanaapalii beach & whalers village only 3.5 miles away, Lahaina/ Front Street was 8 miles away. The staff was helpful.

If they upgrade the bed (mattress) the hotel would be great. A bad night sleep don;t make for a nice morning. Would stay again only after I find out if bed has been upgraded. Nice beautiful grounds.

We did not spend much time at the hotel. We had room B305. The sunsets were spectacular. The room is beginning to show some wear, but the value is great. The pools looked nice, but we enjoy the beach more. We enjoyed snorkeling (beach near Westin Kaanapali Villas, 1 mi south), ziplining (Kaanapali/Lahaina), surf lessons (Maui Wave Riders), submarine ride. We all enjoyed our clockwise trip around the island through Hana.

The location right on the beach was fabulous! Nothing. This resort, though not as upscale as those around it, was comfortable, clean and the staff was great. I would definitely stay here again. My highlight was seeing whale¿s not too far off shore on my last morning there.

I have been there twice (01-06 & 01-07). It is not a top-of-the line hotel (think condos here), it doesn't have a restaurant, entertainment, activities (beside the pools, hot tubs, outdoor grills-poolside, putting greens and tennis courts), I found this to be a quiet place close to everything I needed. The bed wasn?t comfortable, but it was clean and I settled in. I highly recommend for a mid-priced stay (includes kitchen facility/washer&dryer), that is not a glamour hotel place. If you go, talk to the people staying there. Chances are they are regulars and know a lot about the area.

Just a great place to relax, nice views from every room I've stayed in, but oceanfront is always best. Can use papakea to make your plans for snorkeling, ziplines, sunrise at Haleakala, sail to Lanai island, etc. Two good sized pools and jacuzzi's. Is fun to watch everyone come out and sit and watch the wonderful sunsets.

Right on Kannapolis beach. Uncomfortable bed. Great value for the price. A one hour beach walks from the very expensive Hyatt hotel where the conference was. I am sure we got the oldest unit. Still a great value with a kitchen. We saved hundred just cooking for ourselves.

Feel like I am ""going home"" each time that I go. Papakea is close to so many activities, yet far enough away to not be crowded. I have been to Maui many times, and this is the only place that I want to stay.
