The hotel is located in the middle of a business development and is very quiet during weekends. Food is very good however also very expensive. With a short walk to the tram it is quite easy and relatively quick and easy to get to downtown Amsterdam. The breakfast buffet is prohibitively overpriced, however there aren't any other options for restaurants nearby. There isn't enough space in the bar fridges to add any of your own items either, should you be interested in purchasing your own food. CAUTION REGARDING BEDS: The "Queen" sized bed is actually two singles pushed together with a foam wedge in the middle. It is impossible to sleep comfortably across this wedge, and so you might as well just go for a room with two separate beds and perhaps save some money. This hotel is also not well air conditioned. The fans in the room simply cycle air from the hallways into the rooms, it can take quite a while to cool a room down to Canadian normal standards. Our first night, the fan didn't even work and it was uncomfortably hot, however the staff did an excellent job switching our room at 4am. The fitness room is spartan with a treadmill, rowing machine, and elliptical plus one bench and some free weights. No mirrors or floor pads are available. The ceiling was also too low to allow me (6'6"/195cm) to run on the treadmill without hitting my head!

Spent an hour researching various places before I reserved this place. The map on travelocity showed it in the city center (near the Dam Destrict) and its location was listed as Down Town. Imagine our surprise when we got there and found out it was atleast 30 mins. away. The best way to reach it is by tram (the #2) which is atleast a 25 minute ride from the city center. Plus the tram stop is a good ten minute walk from the hotel and the tram only runs to midnight. Not only is it far from everything; it is located in a business park and their nothing around (no restaurants, no bars, no stores, nothing). When we wanted a cup of coffee we had to walk to the tram for 10 minutes, wait for the tram for ? minutes and then ride the tram for 25 minutes. When we wanted food or drink at night, well tough unless you wanted to settle for their over priced restaurant (which we didn't). Also the internet (which is slow) isn't free and there was no free perks I could think of. In fact they didn't even give us our wake up call for our flight, luckily I set up a back up alarm. But besides all that the Hotel wasn't that bad. But look at their website first and mapquest their actual street address before you decide. But do not rely on the info from travelocity or your vacation could be ruined too.

The hotel is very clean, modern, and well kept. And since the hotel is a good distance from the city centre, it is considerably cheaper than you would expect. The best thing to do is to take the trams into the city. There is a tram stop about 3 blocks from the hotel, which is Tram 2, that will take you through a large part of locations of interest. It runs right by Vondelpark, museums such as the Van Gogh, the "I Amsterdam" sign, Leidseplien, Dam Square, and of course it ends at Central Station. The negatives with this hotel are that since the trams stop running around midnight, it may limit how long you can stay out, since the only other ways back would be using the buses or taking a taxi(which will be expensive). Also, the hotel offers a buffet breakfast but it is not included in the room rate. It costs 19 Euro's and is definately not worth the price. The best advice is to just get dressed and head into the city centre, as a breakfast there will be cheaper and of better quality there.

I wish there were blankets in the room because even though we turned the heat on it would not heat the way we wanted it. Not that it was cold just not warm enough for us.

We enjoyed our stay in Amsterdam very much. The staff at the hotel were very helpful in planning our daily excursions, they were knowledgeble& friendly. The hotel is out of the hub bub but within 10 minutes of being in the heart of the city, close to the tram & the bus lines . Be prepared to walk in this town, have fun!
