Great location! Great condo! So nice!

I booked the condo because it appeared nice online for $* a night during spring break. When we arrived, they charged us over $* extra for fees for 2 nights! They give you a bracelet to wear for the pools. If you lose it, then it's $15.00 to replace. Exercise facility were for owners, and you had to have a key or a card. We couldn't use it. The nice pools by the condo were not heated. My husband was kicked out for using pool at the same condo next door that was heated. It's owned by a different homeowner association. Internet was not free. I believe it was about $9.00 a night. Tennis is not free. Of course golf isn't free, but I expected that. Long walk to the beach. There was one small heated pool way on the other side of the property. Too far to walk. Customer service was very rude up front. The only thing nice was the room itself, and it had a great view. We could have used a few more dishes in the room. The main bed was very uncomfortable even though it looked very nice. No folded out sofa. It was just a queen bed with 2 bunk beds. The room was clean. I'm not sure if I want to stay in a condo again after this experience. I would rather pay more money for a nice hotel on the beach. At least maybe I can use all the amenities without getting charged out of the wazoo!

After booking online with Orbitz, we drove 7 hours only to get slapped with an additional $200 amenities and cleaning fee, even though the orbitz website stated that our original price included all of the above. Before we could even raise any objection, the attendant whipped out a webpage printout with additional super-fine print which supposedly justifies their hidden charges (obviously customers get tricked like this all the time) After analyzing the price, we would have saved $150 booking through the hotel and NOT through Orbitz. Apparently Orbitz claims to collect amenities and taxes, but pockets it and the customer gets charged twice.

Nicest thing about this trip was the condo. However, not many things for kids to do and room did not include all the amenities advertised. Long walk to beach and pool access was a problem as staff kept changing how to access the pool w/out telling anyone and was then rude when we were trying to access the pool. Also, we prepaid our room and upon checkout they tried to charge us again. Luckily we had our receipt. We won't stay here again.

Very disatisfied, the guy that booked our room qouted the price and i asked NUMEROUS times if there would be any other fees due at checkin time and he assured me that no other charges would be added and when we checked in we had to pay an additional $218.. i thought there might be but he ASSURED me that it was not so our trip started out bad from the start..oh and lastly... had to walk across the street to the beach..when all the sites shown beach front.

We had a shocker when we arrived with an additional $218.00 fee for cleaning and amnieties. We were supposed to have a balcony view of the beach, we had the 3rd floor and had to look through 2 building to see the beach. Other than that, it was a very nice, clean, upscale condo. We would probably not stay there again. Only because it is a good walk to get to the beach and there is no shuttle!

First of all, nowhere was it listed on Orbitz or on any of the confirmation material I received, that there would be any additional fees for this condo. If I had known of additional fees, I would have booked elsewhere. It was such an amazing deal, too amazing. I should have known something was up. Upon check-in at Ariel Dunes, the front desk person said that I had an outstanding balance of over $160 for cleaning fees and a deposit waiver which would insure me up to $10,000 in damages. I told her that I had paid the bill up front using Orbitz and I showed her my confirmation email/printout which backed me up. She said that the website should have told me of the additional fees, and that if we wanted to stay there, I would have to pay them. I asked if I paid the deposit, after check-out would I get it back. She informed me that I would not. I was in a bind. If I didn't pay the money, then I would be out the money I had already paid for the room, so I paid the fees. Once the fees were paid, she told me that because we were in building 2, we would not have access to the heated pool, but we could use the heated pool at the Tennis Villas. I asked where that was located, and she circled it on a map. The Tennis Villas were over a half mile away from our building. The heated pool we couldn't use was only 100 steps away. I told her that I would like to move to building 1, and she said that wasn't possible. So now, I've paid double what I thought I was paying, and my family couldn't use the heated pool. It's February! We either freeze in the pool at our building or we freeze walking to the far away heated pool. Great choice. Finally, we got to our room. The walls were in horrible shape...black marks everywhere. The carpet was stained. When I pulled the sheets back, there were several dark stains on them, as well. Very, very disappointing. This is supposed to be a newer facility. The only thing nice about our room was the kitchen. It had granite countertops and nice appliances.

Ariel Dunes had great balcony views and the pools were very nice. There is also a great little restaurant and bar with great food. The facility could use a business center and provide some form of wi-fi.

I evacuated the New Orleans area for Hurricane Gustav. I stayed at Arial Dunes II in Destin, Fl. The entire staff was very helpful!
