Overview:
In the heart of Berlin is the historic Mitte district, which is also the address of the Velvet Arcotel. Close to such popular sites as the Spree River with its boat tours, Museum Island, the Reichstag and the ever-popular Brandenburg gate, the neighborhood of this Berlin accommodation is also a good location for beginning a wider exploration of the city.
The Velvet Arcotel is located in Oranienburger Strasse 52 which is a convenient distance from all three airports serving the city.
There are 85 rooms and suites in the hotel, and all have floor to ceiling glass paneling. All are outfitted with modern and state of the art electronics including wireless Internet access, flat panel televisions, DVD players and sound systems. Rooms also have large beds and private baths, cordless telephones and luxury linens as well.
A relatively new hotel, the Velvet Arcotel is considered a “designer” hotel. It extends this concept to every part of its operations, including its “fusion” food restaurant and high quality amenities. The hotel also has a hip and popular lounge as well. There are ample conference and meeting services with high-tech electronics and space for up to 40.

Give it a try !Excellent accommodation. Superior room which was clean and spacious. Tried breakfast and it was very good but too expensive for what it is. Staff very helpful and friendly. Ideal location for sightseeing. Safe and well lit with good cafes and eateries nearby. We would definitely stay there again when we next visit Berlin ! Go on, give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

My husband and I just returned from a great trip to Berlin, where we spent seven nights at the Arcotel Velvet. We were very pleased with our hotel choice, both for its convenient access to public transportation and its clean, well-designed rooms. There are scores of bars and restaurants in the immediate area, serving just about every ethnic cuisine you can think of: Brazilian, Cuban, Thai, Italian, Vietnamese, and yes, even German food. We skipped the pricey hotel breakfast and had coffee and pastries every morning at the little coffee shop right next to the hotel -- very friendly service, with some English spoken by most of the employees. Our room was quiet, thanks to the thermal-pane windows and drapes, despite being right above the busy street below (we were on the fifth floor). I notice some reviewers are bothered by the bathroom design, but we thought it was great. Yes, the shower and sink open directly into the room, but there's a sheer wrap-around curtain (which helps to diffuse glare from the bathroom lights) and the toilet area is completely private (i.e., a separate little room with a door). There were plenty of clothes hangars and a large Ikea-type armoire with conveniently-sized shelves and a room safe. Bed linens were high quality, with separate "his and hers" duvets for each side of the bed -- very clever and comfy. If we return to Berlin (which we hope to do, given how much there is to see), we'll definitely stay here again.

A lovely hotel with a modern, arty touch. The room was a little different to the standard stuff so quite refreshing. Suits younger people or generally those who like a more unique touch. Facilities were a little limited - no sauna or fitness but location makes up for it.

Arcotel Velvet is a lovely hotel in a brilliant location. We loved the room with floor to ceiling windows. There are loads of really nice bars and restaurants within easy walking distance, in fact you could see three that were listed in the guide book from our window. We also walked to many of the major tourist spots from the hotel.

We highly recommend this hotel. The staff were very helpful. The location of the hotel is an excellent base for sightseeing. The underground/metro/trams are 2 mins walk. We will definitely visit here again.

Great location. No Wi fi. A little noisy at night.

This hotel is in the perfect location - walking distance to the tourist sights and shops, and right on the main street for bars and restaurants, so no need to walk far or use public transport at night. The rooms were lovely, comfortable bed, good facilities and very clean. Mini bar was very overpriced though. The staff were friendly although our rooms weren't ready when we arrived mid afternoon. Didn't use the restaurant or the bar - far more interesting/cheap places and a great deal of variety as you make your way up the street. Have dinner and cocktails in the Singapore restaurant across the road.

Stayed there my partner and another couple over a long week-end. The reception staff were great, making dinner reservations, recommending the best transport options, lending us specialist books on architecture in Berlin... Just fantastic service. The rooms are lovely and efficent. The location is extremely convenient. Orianenburger Strasse is filled with bars and restaurants open all hours, walking distance from Friedriechstr. station and Hackecher Markt, close to the Spree and its footpaths, and next to a derilict building reclaimed by artists and which epitimises the 'boho' style of Berlin. A great experience all round. We'll definitely be back.

Despite initial worries over the location next door to a former squat-now an artists colony, and the wasteland at the rear with van dwellers the hotel is fine. Staff are friendly and helpful, rooms unusual in design but clean and functional. The area is busy 24 hours but the hotel remains quiet. There are many good bars and restaurants within a few hundred yards.

The receiption on arrival was friendly and welcoming, the room was clean and everything you would expect from a new hotel. The restaurant was resonsably priced, having had dinner there and the staff were both friendly and knowledgable ,especially with a very large selection of wine. available. Breakfast was good value for money albeit come 11.00 the decks were cleared come what may. The hotel is a short walk from the tube, main line railway station and many tourist attractions.

Lovely hotel with high quality finish in the rooms. The rooms have a curtain to screen the washbasin area so you need to get on well with your room-mate! Excellent location for getting around Berlin with tram stops and U-Bahn right outside. Good choice of local restaurants within easy walking distance. Staff really friendly but bar area is very smoky. Definitely somewhere I will stay again.

found this hotel very central, very clean and generally the staff were very helpful. However the receptionist was very rude and unhelpful when we checked in. She tried to give us a standard room even though we had booked a superior as they had overbooked. i was also told i would have to pay the superior rate for a standard room.when i argued against this she snapped the keys off me and suddenly found a superior room.

Very easy to find after getting off the train at Freidrichenstrasse - it's about a 5min walk (heading away from the Unter den Linden). It's in an excellent location with numerous very good restaurants and bars literally on the doorstep and a short walk to many of the main sights of Berlin. This is the second time I have stayed here and would only stay here when visiting Berlin again. The hotel itself is fantastic, the rooms are spotless, funky and have the most comfortable beds. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

We stayed in one of the junior suites - a large open plan space, two huge windows make up the entirity of one wall, with a small kitchen, breakfast bar, lounge, bedroom and a wonderful bathroom our room was spotlessly clean and welcoming. The staff were friendly and the position is very central. I'd stop at this hotel again and again. Although the carpets are a bit ugly!
