Because of the cheap rate I got at the Waikiki Wave I was a little worried that I was not paying 200+ for a room. But after checking in all was well when I saw the room was very nice, recently renovated and surpassed my expectations. One of the two elevators did not work the entire length of our stay (8 days)they blamed it on a recent storm but I had read many reviews where the elevator was down most of 2009, while the bed was comfy and the room clean. The bathrooms are a little small but I only use the bathroom at showertime so no problem for me. Glimpses of the water from one side of the hotel, and yes the band playing downstairs 'can' be a little noisy at night but I am a heavy sleeper so again no problem for me. I could hear the street noise and band and we were on the 14th floor (room 1404). Location is also good, ABC convenience store is 50m away and many restaurants all around. Walk to the beach in 5-10 mins. I got a room for under 150 which is amazing value, some other nights (Fri/Sat?) rooms can be as much as 300 in which case you are better off staying on the beach in a 5 star hotel. But for value during my 1 week stay everything was ok. The staff is friendly and maintenance responded quickly. Parking is a nightmare and finding a spot was impossible. It would have been better to stay some place else for the parking alone.

My friends and I stayed here and we loved its location. The beach, bars/clubs, restaurants, ABC store (like a CVS here), and other great stores are located either next door or walking distance. Room service was great, it's clean, you have a small fridge, microwave, tv, dvd player and the rooms are spacious. I did not like that they only have stairs when you first walk in the hotel. It is not many stairs but being tired and with a heavy luggage like ours a ramp would have been preferable. Although in other occasions they did have a bellman who helped you carry your stuff.

The pool, the common areas, the staff, the bathroom, the TV. Would not stay there again.

I recently stayed at the Aqua Waikiki Wave and I must say for the price it was worth it. Great location, clean hotel and friendly staff. We were walking distance to the mall, beach, zoo and aquarium. The hotel was kind enough to provide ear plugs due to the noise level from the street at 4 a.m. from club Zanzabar around the corner. Da Big Kahuna is located next door - must try the Da Fish bowl drink. I would definitely stay at this hotel again on my next visit to Oahu.

Hotel has been newly renovated. We were upgraded to a suite, which was very nice. Balcony looked out over Duke's Lane. Walking distance to lots of restaurants, and Waikiki beach is only a couple of blocks away. Saw a concert at Royal Hawaiian Showroom and stayed so we didn't have to drive all the way home to the North Shore. Good value for the money. Would definitely stay there again and recommend it to my friends and family.

Because of the cheap rate I got at the Waikiki Wave I was a little worried that I was not paying 200+ for a room. But after checking in all was well when I saw the room was very nice, recently renovated and surpassed my expectations. Free wifi was great and should be standard in all hotels these days, while the bed was comfy and the room clean. The bathrooms are a little small but I only use the bathroom at showertime so no problem for me. Glimpses of Diamond Head and the water from one side of the hotel, and yes the band playing downstairs 'can' be a little noisy at night but I am a heavy sleeper so again no problem for me. Anyway the band stopped playing at 11pm on the night I was there. Location is also good, ABC convenience store is 50m away and many restaurants all around. Walk to the beach in 5-10 mins. This hotel had to be the worst hotel i have ever stayed at. The staff were unbelievably rude and the noise was ridiculous. After paying that amount of money you don't expect to have to wear ear plugs. I would not recommend this hotel

Friendly staff. Water was off due to plumbing issues. Hotel is conveniently located to the beach areas. Congestion and noise were high. Had to walk through area that felt like convenience store to get to lobby. Price of parking in area is extremely high. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Water was off for multiple days due to replacement of water heater on upper floors. I had to ask for room change. Room size was adequate at best. Do not stay here if you want a view of anything other than roof tops or the side of buildings.

we stayed at the aqua waikiki wave march 12 thru march 19 2009. very nice the most comfortable beds i have ever sleep on even my own. service was very very good. we were on the 16th floor so noise was not an issue. part of the family stayed here and part of the family stayed at much much more expensive hotel in waikiki. the rooms were almost idenitical but their room was not cleaned and beds were not made everyday and our's were. i would gladly stay here again if i go back to waikiki but to be honest i would rather stay where it is not so conjested. if i were to go back to hawaii i would rather stay a little futher outside of waikiki. i think it is a disgrace how all the hotels in waikiki that we checked charges for parking. this on charged 20.00 per day but the one some of the family stayed charged 25.00 per day.

We found this hotel to be a great value when compared to the high prices of other hotels near Waikiki beach. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. The street noise was very noticeable even though we were on the 15th floor but it did not keep us awake. The WiFi worked just fine with my old IBM Thinkpad that I use for travel. The continental breakfast required a 5 charge so we opted to go elsewhere for a more complete breakfast. We would definitely stay there again if we were to return to Honolulu.

I first wanted to say how great and helpful the people at the front desk are. They upgraded our room for no additional charge, as well as recomemded places to eat and activities to do around the Waikiki area. The Rooms were very roomy and clean. Also had everything you needed: blow dryer, safe, iron, ironing board etc. The rooms at the Wave are nicely decorated, and were cozy. The AC was also working great and you had a control in the room to make it cooler if needed! House cleaning cleaned the room every morning- changes the sheets and everything. Overall we had a great stay at the Wave! One thing i would like to say is that it could get a little on the loud side during the night (there are night clubs close by) so try to get rooms higher up! Will stay there again if we ever go back to Waikiki!

The room was nice and clean. Staff was horrible, Zanzabar Night club right next door. Very loud! We checked in after midnight and the front desk person was not helpful at all. We called the front desk twice and there was no answer. The staff the following day was very nice and cordial, but the guy working he was horrible.

Let me say from the outset that we loved the value that the Aqua Wave offered. It was the highlight of our short stay in Oahu. I was a bit leary of booking a nonrefundable reservation based of some of the negative reviews on an online travel website, but after staying there, we are glad that we did! Perhaps the most important thing to note as a prospective guest is that the hotel is old. Although the new owners- Aqua Corp, have updated the rooms with new paint, carpet, beds, marble countertops and updated furniture, its bones date back to the 60s. Because of this, there are old windows and some of the infrastructure needs replacing. The biggest impact to guests staying on the hotel are things like slow elevators, outside noise leaking in through the old windows (especially at 5am when the trash truck paid a visit) and tile in the bathroom showing its age. Our family of three stayed there for one day in September of 2008 and were greeting promptly with a smile. They upgraded our room to a one bedroom suite (rm 1215) with a nice ocean view and three beds. We only paid slightly more than the base rate. None of this deficiencies eclipsed our like of the property. It is clear to us that the folks at AGUA are trying to make a name for themselves by offering a good value and convenient location to guests with a bit of style. And on that goal, they are on target. Overall, we were very satisfied and will return. I'd suggest that if you are staying for a short stay, the WAVE cannot be beat due to its location and value. However if you are staying longer, say on a honeymoon, I would look elsewhere.

We stayed here over the holidays for five nights. When we first checked in, all they had left was a handicapped room on the third floor. I asked to get a room higher up, but the man at the front desk said we could not get a higher floor because we booked our room through the travel website package deal, and thats all we could get. When we got to our room, it had a walk in shower--with a handicap chair to sit down, and the room smelled like body odor. There was no way I could sleep here..I was awful. We went back to the front desk and asked if there was any way to change rooms. He told me that they were booked and could freshen up the room. This was unacceptable to me. Finally, the front desk attendant gave in and found us a room on the sixth floor. When we arrived, it smelled much better but the bathroom shower gave me the creeps. This hotel was recently renovated, but the shower is still the original tile. It's poorly lit in the bathroom, and a bit spooky. I wanted to find another hotel during this trip, but everything was sold out. The pictures of this hotel are quite deceiving. Pictures look fantastic--but once you arrive--you can feel that the hotel used to be rundown and old..I do not recommend staying here at all! If you plan to visit Hawaii- i suggest spending a bit more to get a decent hotel. (Also, there is a lot of noise at night, from the clubs and the parking structure right next door.)

The staff at the hotel could not have been friendlier. It is in a great location for all the action of downtown Waikiki. Several reasonably priced places to eat in the area. Would recommend the Galaxy Steakhouse. The ONLY thing that bothered me was the parking situation. Most hotels in Waikiki have parking garages that are not cheap including this one. Otherwise, I would recommend this hotel to a friend.

Met all my expectations, great stay. Great little hotel. A few blocks from the beach. When we realized there was not enough bath towels, I called the front desk. They sent extras right to the room. Great service. Stayedon the 9th floor,so street noise was not an issue. Beds were very comfortable. Bathroom clean and bright. Highly recommend this place.

I read every review on every site about this hotel for 3 months before my trip, and last minute was starting to worry about my choice. But once getting there, I found out the Wave is fantastic!! If you are looking for a good deal with a great location, I would suggest the Wave. Sure it isn't the most glamorous hotel (but really, is any hotel in Hawaii??), but it does the trick for a place to sleep. The rooms were spacious, the beds were comfy, the washroom was good (and when you first turn on the lights they are dim, but wait like 2 minutes and they come on bright), and the staff were always helpful. Make sure you stay on the side on the hotel where the elevators are as there is construction going on at the hotel on the other side. And if you are a light sleeper, make sure to spend the extra $6.75 to get a Deluxe Wave Room on floors 10-15....it's worth it. All is all, if your not one to spend your whole vacation in your room, this is the best bang for your buck you can get. Your literally 5 minutes from the Waikiki Beach, and the buses will take you everywhere and the stop is just across the street. Love the Wave and I will be back :)

Room was an ok size, and fairly clean. It had a refrigerator, coffee maker and microwave. The beds were comfortable and the flat screen tv was a nice extra. High speed internet was available -- wireless connection was fine; however response time was poor. Staff was nice and helpful, however service was SLOW. View from our 3rd floor room was a parking garage. The garbage trucks that came at 4 am were very loud. Even though the hotel was okay, the working girls out in front of the hotel after 9:30 pm would deter us from calling this a "family-friendly" hotel. The free coffee in the lobby was horrible. The hotel only has 2 elevators which were slow and you can only use the stairs to go down, they were not accessable to walk up the stairs. The continental breakfast was not in the lobby -- you have to leave the building and go next door to the Big Kahuna bar/restaurant and it wasn't worth the walk. From our experience you get what you pay for, a parking lot view and a noisy room.
