This was my first time at this hotel and I recommend it to anyone looking for a good value on their buck. The rooms were very comfortable and rooms were cleaned in a timely manner. Although this hotel does not offer free shuttle service to the most common tourist sites such as Diamond head and Pearl Harbor, the bus stop is only 1 or 2 blocks away. The staff at the front desk were very accommodating, always willing to help out and found that they were very knowledgeable. If they did not know something, they were very quick to find out the information. The hotel is right next to the international market place, so essentially at the heart of Waikiki. If your looking for an all inclusive 5 star resort with a lot of ammenities, then this may not be the place for you. However, there is so much to do in Waikiki, that it would be ashame to spend your entire time there in the hotel. However, for the location and price, its hard to beat.

Because of the cheap rate I got at the Waikiki Wave I was a little worried that I was not paying 200+ for a room. But after checking in all was well when I saw the room was very nice, recently renovated and surpassed my expectations. Free wifi was great and should be standard in all hotels these days, while the bed was comfy and the room clean. The bathrooms are a little small but I only use the bathroom at showertime so no problem for me. Glimpses of Diamond Head and the water from one side of the hotel, and yes the band playing downstairs 'can' be a little noisy at night but I am a heavy sleeper so again no problem for me. Anyway the band stopped playing at 11pm on the night I was there. Location is also good, ABC convenience store is 50m away and many restaurants all around. Walk to the beach in 5-10 mins. I got a room for under 100 which is amazing value, some other nights (Fri/Sat?) rooms can be as much as 300 in which case you are better off staying on the beach in a 5 star hotel. But for value during my 1 night stay everything was great.

This hotel has plumbing issues. Our bathtub filled up all by itself at 1:00 am with black, sandy water from another room.

We found this hotel to be a great value when compared to the high prices of other hotels near Waikiki beach. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. The street noise was very noticeable even though we were on the 15th floor but it did not keep us awake. The WiFi worked just fine with my old IBM Thinkpad that I use for travel. The continental breakfast required a 5 charge so we opted to go elsewhere for a more complete breakfast. We would definitely stay there again if we were to return to Honolulu.

At first we were very pleased with the hotel but on our last night the pub in the Waikiki Trade Center played extremely loud music with a strong base that felt like it shook the bed. We called the front desk at 01:04 but they were unable to stop it. At 02:40 it finally closed and we got to sleep. We were directly above the club on the 6th floor. Until that happened we were convinced we would come back.

We stayed here over the holidays for five nights. When we first checked in, all they had left was a handicapped room on the third floor. I asked to get a room higher up, but the man at the front desk said we could not get a higher floor because we booked our room through the travel website package deal, and thats all we could get. When we got to our room, it had a walk in shower--with a handicap chair to sit down, and the room smelled like body odor. There was no way I could sleep here..I was awful. We went back to the front desk and asked if there was any way to change rooms. He told me that they were booked and could freshen up the room. This was unacceptable to me. Finally, the front desk attendant gave in and found us a room on the sixth floor. When we arrived, it smelled much better but the bathroom shower gave me the creeps. This hotel was recently renovated, but the shower is still the original tile. It's poorly lit in the bathroom, and a bit spooky. I wanted to find another hotel during this trip, but everything was sold out. The pictures of this hotel are quite deceiving. Pictures look fantastic--but once you arrive--you can feel that the hotel used to be rundown and old..I do not recommend staying here at all! If you plan to visit Hawaii- i suggest spending a bit more to get a decent hotel. (Also, there is a lot of noise at night, from the clubs and the parking structure right next door.)

The aqua was a first hard to find because of the small hotel sign. The bus stop is right up front and I couldn't see the sign. But when I turned around it was no problem. I would stay there again. The staff there is wonderful.

I don't know why any hotel would choose to exist on that street. I wouldn't walk my dog down that street, let alone my child. The noise, car alarms, and screaming last throughout, the night forbidding us to get one minute of sleep. Fortunately, the hotel was willing to relocate us to one of their other properties located away from this frightening area. I give them high marks for accommodating our request. The other location was excellent. They and all the other hotels in that area need to pressure the city to clean that street up.

Room was an ok size, and fairly clean. It had a refrigerator, coffee maker and microwave. The beds were comfortable and the flat screen tv was a nice extra. High speed internet was available -- wireless connection was fine; however response time was poor. Staff was nice and helpful, however service was SLOW. View from our 3rd floor room was a parking garage. The garbage trucks that came at 4 am were very loud. Even though the hotel was okay, the working girls out in front of the hotel after 9:30 pm would deter us from calling this a "family-friendly" hotel. The free coffee in the lobby was horrible. The hotel only has 2 elevators which were slow and you can only use the stairs to go down, they were not accessable to walk up the stairs. The continental breakfast was not in the lobby -- you have to leave the building and go next door to the Big Kahuna bar/restaurant and it wasn't worth the walk. From our experience you get what you pay for, a parking lot view and a noisy room.

We are not talking fancy. Rooms are of ample size; beds very comfortable, bathroom marginal. Your view may be of a parking structure!! Don't bother with the 3 continental breakfast at a next-door "restaurant." On a scale of 10, maybe a 1. The hotel is on a major bus line, a definite plus. The beach is relatively close. Skip the coffee in the free machine located in the lobby. The staff is very friendly, as are most people in Hawaii. Factor in the reasonable price, and there is value here. If your needs are primarily a place to put your head at night, this hotel will fit the bill. However, if you are looking for view, pretty lobby, restaurant/lounge, etc. etc., grab your credit card and head elsewhere.

We found a cockroach as big as a half dollar in our hotel room! The hotel staff didn't do anything about it either or compensate us. Continental breakfast is only served to specific guests. Only a little older and used. The room is small, but ok for two to three people. It is loud at night. The hotel staff was not as friendly as expected. The front desk staff seemed too busy or too good to help you.

We were quite surprised to find that the room was a junior suite with a king-sized bed AND a queen in the same room...Small in room kitchen-ette. Nice HD TV..two balconies..the hotel isn't located in the greatest part of town, but it wasn't a major issue...Walking distance to some eateries...fairly close to Waikiki.

This hotel was a great value, attractive and spacious accommodations. There are two restaurants on site but better restaurants are plentiful within 10 blocks. The hotel is at the edge of the International Market and upscale shopping. The beach is gorgeous and only a few blocks away. The staff is friendly, helpful and courteous. There is limited parking on site and access is marginal; we parked nearby after two nights. Would stay there again.

We really appreciated the cleanliness of this hotel as well as the friendly staff. We did experience noise (excessive) from the night club across the alley which was not a great part of town. Thankfully this was only an issue Saturday night and since we had flown in that day and were experiencing jet lag we went to sleep very easily, but the noise did continue to 3 in the morning. Walking location wasn't bad about a block or two to the beach, but the area certainly wasn't a very good part of town late at night. Do not expect a view of much from this hotel as again it is located between buildings, one of which is a construction like parking structure.

If you are looking for a decent place to crash in Waikiki, this is a great hotel. If you are looking for a Hawaiian getaway, stay elsewhere. Clean, refurbished, older hotel that within walking distance of pretty much anything in Waikiki.

The room was very comfortable and large. I really liked having a microwave, refridgerator and coffee maker. The safe in the room was also very easy to operate. We had a suite on an upper view with two lanais and partial views of the ocean and Diamond Head. The beach was a short walk away. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel.
