Had a wonderful stay at the Aqua Bamboo and Spa. Located at a very convenient location (near international marketplace and ala moana shopping center). Received FREE upgrade to a quieter room facing the pool.

i have stayed here 2 times now on surf getaways... they have a sauna for after surf to keep the pain away... and a bbq if you want to invite friends for dinner... the staff is really lovely locals who treat you like a good friend with great hospitality... the pool area has a chill out secret zen garden vibe... the location is great you can walk to the beach rent a board at koah board sports on your way for some long boarding or walk the other way and your in local hoods were there are great restaurants and health-food stores.... north shore is a beautiful drive away and its easy to rent a car for the day... i recommend this spot highly... not so touristy and yukky... the rooms are clean and tastefully decorated as is the entire hotel.... kind of shocking for the price... in a good way.... enjoy!

I would not recommend staying at this hotel AT ALL! The bathroom squeals for 10 minutes after you flush. There is no TV in the private room. Little to no kitchen. ALL THE DISHES WERE DISGUSTING! They all needed rewashing. There really is no breakfast unless you call in the night before. I dont know what complimentary wireless service they are talking about, I had to connect to a unreliable source that wasn't provided by the hotel at all. The towels are a weird yellow stained color. But they look white. (hold them up to the light). The balcony is unfurnished, so they lied about it being furnished. Everything works fine. The hotel is fairly cheap. There is no phone book, not even a pen. I would recommend paying a little extra money to stay at a better hotel . 3/4 of our hotel room keys didn't work. They only have drawers in the private room, so for the two staying out in the "living area" must keep all their clothing in their suitcases. The balcony is very small. The rail is pretty unreliable as well. The water can't decide if it really wants to be hot or cold. If you try to make it warm, sometimes it will turn freezing randomly, or extremely hot. The sound of this hotel is TERRIBLE! Being woken up EVERY 30 minutes to a bus stopping or the exhaust of it. I was on the 4th floor. I couldn't sleep at all. I had to wear earplugs! Even then I couldn't sleep still because I could still hear everything outside. The sound in the bahtroom magnifies. This hotel offers the very basic needs. The area with two twin beds blends with kitchen. - Family Suite One Bedroom. :(

This is an older-style hotel that has been renovated. It's not plush, but it's very adequate. My room was small but clean--I was staying on my own, visiting friends who live in Honolulu, so I wasn't at the hotel a lot. If you want the full resort experience--oceanfront, big pool, someone to bring you drinks, this is not the place. If you want a reasonably priced, pleasant, well-located room mostly to sleep in, this is a great choice. I was upgraded to ocean view on the 12th floor, and I had a nice partial view. The staff was very friendly. The pool is small but quite lovely. In general, everything is a little noisy, but that's more a function of Waikiki than anything else. I think you could spend a lot more elsewhere and still find things a bit noisy. The location is great--about a block to the Surfrider beach, which is stellar. Easy access to buses...or the staff will call you a cab (mine arrived within in minutes). You can walk anywhere in Waikiki from here.

Staff was friendly and helpful. Parking was $20. a night. Excellent hotel. Staff was excellent, very friendly. Hotel was clean and room was small but had a kitchenette. When the hotel manager found out it was our anniversary she sent chocolates up to our room. Breakfast was a decent continental breakfast, the orange-pineapple juice was great. I would recommend and certainly stay here again.

We enjoyed the time we spend at the hotel. The staff was very gentle with us.

The thing we liked most about the hotel is the how you the staff gets to know you and you them over the week of stay. This is almost not possible in the big chain hotels. Hotel: 1. Very close to the beach (just a 5 min walk). Leads to right to the duke statue depending the direction you take. 2. Very close to the bus stop (if you plan to use the bus; more on the bus in my Oahu trip review) 3. Hotel decor is very modern with an Asian influence (thailand is what the hotel wants us to believe) 4. The pool area and cabanas are nice (never used it though) Rooms: 1. The rooms has modern look with flat screen TV. 2. The washroom is decent 3. The only complaint I have it the AC. I could not barely reach the on/off switch (I am 5' 9"). If I had to adjust the temp; I had to use some other extension (like a comb or a pen) 4. The lanai (balcony) was big enough to put your chairs and kick back (we did that when there was no power in Oahu for 12 hrs). Staff and other amenities 1. Very enthusiastic 2. Parking is 22 bucks a day if you valet or 20 bucks if you park across the street 3. Breakfast is ok 4. Pool and Spa services are on-premises; but we never used it All in all a good value for money.

This was my first time to go to Hawaii I had a great time and my stay at the aqua Bamboo was just as great. I love how close to the beach it was. My room was just redone and very nice. The staff is very friendly and helpful... I will be back!!!!!!

This was my forst trip to Hawaii, so I didn't really know what to expect. From the outside appearance the hotel isn't too attractive- but inside is clean and modern. Ialso liked that we were close to nightlife and only two short blocks from the beach. Great trip!

super comfy beds/nice accommodations in room, TV, kitchenette, wonderful shower head, nice views. It is a great place to bring your significant other. The beds were really comfortable and we loved the kitchenette, 2 burner hot plate, microwave, and fridge. We had flat screen TV & 3 lanais. The bathtub was great & so was the shower head. The style is very modern with an Asian influence. The rooms were a little bit small, but I would go back again & bring my kids. The pool was very kid friendly with flotation devices/rafts for the kids. We had a great time!

I booked a room here with the intent of saving a few bucks, but what a great find this place turned out to be! The physical location makes walking to the beach a snap (less than 1 minute walk), and we had fast access to an endless number of restaurants and shops. The staff was exceptionally professional, and was really the high point of the stay. Our valet service was always fast and courteous, and the front desk staff treated us like we were staying at a 5-star location. Much aloha and mahalo to Joy. The management knew what it was doing when it was hiring these people. Before booking I read that it looked like they were in the midst of (or in need of) a remodel. We stayed there the last week in December, and our room was newly furnished and looked great. Other things to be aware of - the breakfast is very continental, so unless you're a breakfast snacker don't depend on it to get you through to lunch. We preferred to walk around and eat at new places every day, so it wasn't a big deal for us... but might be with a large family or lots of little ones. As is common in the area, there's a daily charge for valet parking ($22). I was initially wary of this and had planned on finding an alternative, but after scouting out the area and comparing convenience and alternative locations, we decided to roll with it, and ended up being really glad we did. It was great to just pull up and drop off the car and not have to worry about traffic or finding a spot... just build that amount into your daily expenses. This is our new favorite place to stay in Hawaii.

We began our vacation with reservations at the Aqua Equus Hotel which we found to be very inadequate and we asked to be transfered to the Bamboo. We were very very happy when we transfered and the staff was very pleasant. We have also stayed at the Aqua Wave which I also highly recommond. Great chain of hotels and you won't be sorry you stayed there!

The hotel location is great compared to the price. Only two small blocks from Waikiki Beach and shops. Carpet feels dirty, rooms need to be upgraded. Water pressure in the shower was low. Beds are comfortable. Parking is very scarce and expensive. Might have to park across the street (which isn't far, just a little inconvenient). Lobby and pool area very clean and nicely decorated. If traveling with buddies, probably a good place. If traveling with family, or want a romantic getaway, probably not a great place. Staff was friendly and great!!

This hotel was great. Me and my girlfriend were skeptical at first since the location on a map didn't seem too favorable, but once we got there we were so pleased. It was only a 2-3 min. walk from the beach. We chose this hotel based on price and the amenities they had. Most hotels we looked at before did not have a microwave or any sort of kitchenette unless you got the highest priced hotel room. We personally wanted to be able to buy food and make a few meals to save money. The only complaint we would have is that it is on a busy street, Kuhio, which made it a little noisy but we both slept like babies. You may want to try and have the hotel give you the highest room possible for the noise and view sake. I can't emphasize how great this location is. Right across the street is the bus stop, 2 min. from the grocery store, surrounded by ABC stores, 1 min. walk from Kings Village and like I said before 2-3 min. walk from the beach. The staff was great! They were nice and friendly and always smiling. The pool and jacuzzi was also very comfortable and nice. It's a salt water pool and jacuzzi so you don't have that nasty chlorine smell on you afterwards. We would both recommend this hotel to anyone. Next time we travel to Waikiki we will choose this hotel again.

Clean and comfortable. Nice staff, and excellent location. Parking was $22 a night. The hotel was a wonderful find for the price. It was in a great and central location. Close to the beach and plenty of shopping. The room was clean, if a bit small. The flat panel TV was a nice touch. The lobby was nice and the staff very friendly. My only complaint was the $22 a night parking fee.

We stayed here in the beginning of Sept 2008. We were suprised how nice it was. We used to stay over on Lewers ST but now we the new beachwalk and the hotels over there being higher in price, we were looking for a different location. We thought this hotel was wonderful. The pool area was so nice that often times we stayed there versus going to the beach. The lobby was very pleasant and had a very nice "welcome home" smell. Every staff member we encountered was very cheery and polite. It seemed they were very glad to have you stay and enjoyed their jobs which makes for a good enviroment. The room was nice and had everything we needed. The hotel was very well taken care of with everything being properly maintained and clean. We were on the fourth floor which was a little loud if you had the balcony door opened but once it was closed, you barely heard anything. The water pressure was good and we never had a problem with the temperature of the water.(I know that sounds goofy but we have stayed in many hotels in Hawaii and that seems to be a problem in some of them.) If you park next door at the Pacific Monarch the parking is only 12/day and they have plenty of it. We enjoyed the little cafe on the corner called the Coconut Cafe. They serve all kinds of items with very reasonable prices. The location of the hotel was fabulous. Not too far from the beach. Plenty of stores to shop in and places to eat.Everything seemed to be not that far of a walk. We have been to Hawaii six times and have never stayed at the same place but we would stay here again.
