I cannot believe that somebody gave this dilapidated place top marks. Dirty bed sheets, dirty toilet, filthy shower, window could not be closed, shower tap knob broken off, TV remote did not work, stains everywhere. The breakfast was OK, but the service rather unfriendly.

Review of Room 403One major problem with my otherwise satisfactory room was that the radiator was on and could not be turned off. As it was a warm night, this was decidedly too much of a good thing.

Asked for extra pillows were told they didn't know if they had any and we never received any. Restaurant shut both evenings we were there. Directed to second floor room with luggage via stairs when lift available and nearer. Local restaurants good, excellent Beefeater opposite and very easy access to city, hotel on main route in.

apollo hotel reviewat check in everything appeared ok, we were told we had recieved an upgrade, however when arriving in the room we were shocked to discover that the room was tiny the bed was tiny and were shocked at the overall basic appearance of a suposed upgraded room and were somewhat concerned at what the quality of the room would have been if we had been given the original one!.the problems started almost straight away the toilet would not flush properly, and when taking a shower it was clear that it was not functioning right but it was adequate, however over night the shower had ceased to work, there was no water pressure, when we reported this to maintaince to fix it, at this point we were late for our appointment and unable to shower or wash. when we arrived back we were told that it had been fixed. However on closer inspection it appears that the receptionist we had reported the fault to had passed on the message that we appeared unable to make the shower function correctly!. So the maintanice man came back and swapped the shower head over which resolved the fault, or so we thought, we had water but the mixer was broken and we could only get scalding hot water coming through, which nearly caused an injury to my girlfriend. The maintanince team were helpful and allowed us to use a shower in another room so we didnt suffer any further delays. We have already been considerabley delayed as at this point we had wanted to leave in the morning but were forced to come back. When we went to reception to complain and speak to a manager the girl on recpetioon had told us that there was no manager available as they had popped out and had not specified a return time, and that if we were not satisfied we should report it to late rooms and sort the issue through them. However we called late rooms direct from the recpetion and had been informed that this was not following procedure and we had infact been lied too, and to this effect late rooms actually spoke to the r

ExcellenceI have been staying in Hotels when I travelled, both home and abroad, this is one of the best. Their services were unique and their staff's courtesy is brilliantly wonderful. I will always stay there when I am in Birmingham

WE stayed at this accommodation as my Aunt was here for the Rotary convention. We liked the room. It was clean and well appointed. We had breakfast which was very good with plenty of choice. We would stay here again and recommend it to others coming your way.

The hotel's rooms were clean and comfortable with plenty of room, the only problem being for a triple room we had to fight over the tea & coffee. My only real problem was that the hotel was actually quite a distance from the city centre although it seems much closer on the map. But the prices were great & couldn't fault it for a one night stay.

Great Room at a Cheap Price!I have previously stayed at the Apollo Hotel before, but had stayed in an Executive Room. This time me and my boyfriend stayed in a Standard room as all executive rooms were fully booked. To our surprise are room was very spacious with a large double bed and wardrobe. We had a t.v with some satelite channels. The bathroom only had a power shower but this was more then acceptable for the price we paid for the room. The cleanliness of our room was superb and we got new towels everyday. The floor was hoovered and everything wiped over. The only slight problems were the people adjoining to our room. They were very loud and had a row outside our room at 5am!! Needless to say my boyfriend and i could not get back to sleep. Also, on the Saturday night out t.v began to switch itself on and off. We put up with this for roughly 2 hrs until i phoned reception. The receptionist was very polite and sent the maintainance man straight to our room and gave us a new t.v Apart from these 2 slight problems we had a wonderful time. The room was extremly pleasent and we would most definatly stay there again. Hope this review helps :)

Discusting mouldy roomI was appauled by the standard of accomodation provided, the walls were mouldy and the walls were obviously rotting, the wall paper peeling from walls, Hall ways had awful damp smell. I would seriously not recommend this for animals to stay had it not been for circumstances of me staying in this area i.e hospital visit of critically injured, I would have left in discust.

one night stay on bank holiday sundayMy 2 friends and I travelled up to Birmingham from Gloucestershire for a night out and to meet up with friends. We arrived and were greeted by a man on reception who was helpful and friendly. he told us where our rooms were and we were all a bit disappointed to be on the ground floor in block A, as there was a balcony opposite in the C block with a group of pervy men leering at us, so we immediately shut the curtains! Very dated decor and no duvet in either of the rooms, just a blanket and sheet which looked like it belonged in the 50s as my friend said! Overall cleanliness was good. Went out and had a good night, returned about 2am and somewhere between then and 5 in the morning the fire alarms started throughout the whole hotel. Felt like I was back at university in halls...This happened twice-i guess some idiot had been smoking. In the morning I had a shower...except the water came out very slow and so hot because the knob wasnt working properly so you couldnt get the heat down. I wouldnt stay here again because I prefer to try somewhere else for the same amount of money, but its ok for one night!

my reviewThe shower was faulty, on the saturday we had to use another flat on the same level, on the sunday we had to use one on the ground floor, which was an inconvenience. The shower holder was broken, the remote for the tv didn't work, and the cover on the double bed had 2 red stains on it. The kettle was also in a very poor state. I Would not stay here again, for the £55 I paid for a single room with 2 beds, the accomadation was old, dated and looked terrible from the reception, it was also very noisy, from 7am on the sunday morning this was constant, it was more like a youth hostel than a hotel.

Not a bad hotelI stayed at the Apollo for two nights whilst on business. Reception staff were friendly, rooms were almost clean but the bathrooms were very cold. Draught proofing the windows would sort this out. Breakfast was good but I didn't use the bar or have any other meal so I can't comment. Is it a 3* Hotel, almost, a little refurbishment would bring it back up to the 3* rating. Saying that for the price I paid I would use the hotel again without hesitation.

family visitWe thought the location and access to the hotel was very good, excellent parking. We were quoted £25 extra for our little dog which we thought was excessive! The towels were of excellent quality the shower was very good, but alas the bed was most uncomfortable, we e-mailed the hotel and suggested they buy some mattress toppers to make them more comfortable.

Cheap but minimalCheap rooms, clean and beds ok but quality of rooms is mediocre at best. In my room the heating didn't work and the shower leaked all over the bathroom floor. Depending upon your budget and how often you travel I would probably pay a little more and stay at a nicer hotel.

Not keenDesperately in need of refurbishment. You can do so much better in Birmingham than this
