Pamporovo is the most popular and the biggest ski resort in Bulgaria, the Pearl of the Bulgarian mountain resorts, situated in the heart of Rodopa Mountain; 260 kilometers from the capital Sofia, 85 km south of Plovdiv and 11 km from Smolyan city. The resort Pamporovo is situated on 1650m above sea level under the peak Snezanka. On 10 km west is located the Chepelare resort, the administrative center Smolyan is 11km south.

The resort and the ski-runs are surrounded by centuries - old fir-trees, and this makes the resort exceptionally beautiful and attractive. The total length of the ski-runs is 18km. The chair-lifts and the tow-lifts, which serve the ski-runs are with capacity 7000 persons per hour. The climate is favorable for tourism, as the average annual temperature is 8°C; there is snow cover more than 150 days a year and the sunny days are nearly 240.

The winter here is really a paradise for skiers and snowboarders. One can go in for skiing and snowboarding from the end of November to the end of April. The total amount of snow days are more than 150, the snow cover often reaches more than 2 m. The ski-runs are with different length and with different difficulty. For the beginners several (green) ski-runs and several grounds equipped with mini trails are built. For advance skiers there are several very steep (black) ski-runs. For those who like ski running and biathlon there are ski-runs around Snezanka peak and sport shooting ground in the area of Iazovira. In Pamporovo resort a few ski schools with high qualified teachers function. International and national competitions of ski alpine disciplines for man and woman are held, like ski-running, ski-orientation, biathlon and other winter sports. Lately among the ski-runs of the resort very popular has become the winter mountain-bike. Sudden changes in the weather, nor avalanches, are typical for the resort so your calmness and safety are guaranteed during the time of your rest.

At night Pamporovo proposes an interesting suggestion for entertainment. Usually in the dancing clubs are organized parties with European and American pop music. The restaurants propose to their guests entertaining rodopean folklore program. The most interesting place for all tourists is the panoramic bar on the TV tower Snezanka, on 2030 meters above sea level. The view in clear weather is fantastic. The whole resort complex and all ski-runs are plainly visible.
