Ansonborough Inn is only a few minutes from Market Street and tons of great places to eat; great atmosphere; loved the afternoon Wine & Cheese. Harris Teeter supermarket across the street really came in handy. Make sure you stop at a South Carolina Visitor Center on I-95 or at the one in town on Meeting Street to get discount coupons. First time in Charleston and we will definitely return

The location was great. It was only a block from Market Street and many things to do within walking distance. I was very pleased with the hotel. I would highly recommend it to any traveler.

The Ansonborough was terrific! We were upgraded to the gorgeous Admiral's Suite which made the rainy weather irrelevant. The 1900 property was updated in 2000 and thought was given for every comfort. We counted 14 oil paintings in our apartment, plus a gas fireplace, sky light, marble kitchen and bath, plantation shutters up to the 20' ceiling, a lighted china cabinet, and luxurious duvet and fluffy towels. There was plenty of closet room and drawer space to move right in. The 24 hour Harris Teeter next door proved a convenience. The bar was tiny, but gorgeous with beautiful paneling and even more paintings. The entire property was like an art gallery. Breakfast was fine, but best were the cookies and nightly wine and homemade pimento cheese socials.

This was our first visit to Charleston. We wanted to stay in a non-chain quaint hotel. This was it. The breakfast and evening wine and cheese are an excellent way to start and end the day.

The rooms are unbelievable! I love the extremely high ceilings with exposed beams as well as brick. I love staying there because I feel like I am getting more bang for my buck!

Our only concern was the room was set up for a single guest. One light beside the bed, no room on the other side to get out of bed. The room had plenty of space, but it was not arranged in a way condusive to two people staying. It was walking distance to market and the restuarants in downtown Charleston which we loved. At a previous stay we had a beautiful view over the docks.

The Ansonborough Inn was GREAT! Starting with the staff at the check who were very friendly and helpfull. The room was large and clean. We enjoyed the breakfast. The roof top deck is a great place to rest after a long day of walking around Charleston. We will be sure to state here again on our next trip to Charleston

I realy recommend this hotel for a visit to Charleston. The staff are very helpful and friendly and the room we had was excellent. The room was very large with luxurious bathroom amenities. We almost felt as if we were at home here. The location was excellent in that it is quiet when you need it, but minutes away from everything you need to see and do in Charleston.

The Ansonborough Inn, CHARLESTON, SC was a unique departure from the chain hotel experience, much more like a B&B. The hotel itself as well as the rooms were spacious yet cozy, with brick an exposed beams everywhere, not to mention the countless oil paintings in the halls and rooms. The only drawbacks were that the bar was devoid of not only customers but a bartender. You have to get the front desk folks to pour a drink, but they were friendly if not well versed in the art of bartending. There is no room service or restaurant but the area is dotted with great places to eat so this was not a detriment to our stay. We'll stay here again - the ambiance is worth it.
