Are you looking for comfortable and affordable accommodation in Oslo you have come to the right place. We are located in the city centre, between Oslo's busy main street Karl Johan and Grünerløkka's young and trendy urban life.All our 161 rooms have private bathrooms, wireless Internet access, telephone and TV.In 2007, we renovated all our rooms!They have all got fresh colours and new furniture.

Transportation:

The Airport Express train from Oslo Airport to the Central Station takes 20 minutes. There are also trains and busses which will take 40 minutes. Outside the Central Station, Jernbanetorget, tram number 12 and 13 and bus number 30, 31 and 32 will take you to the hotel. The stop is called Hausmannsgate. There is at taxi rank by the Central Station. Walking distance from the Central Station to the hotel: 78 minutes.If you arrive at Torp Airport there are buses going to Oslo Bus Terminal. For details on this bus see www.torp.no. There is a taxi rank by the Oslo Bus Terminal. If you want to take public transportation you have to walk to Jernbanetorget (by the Central Station). Tram number 12 and 13 and bus number 30, 31 and 32 will take you to the hotel. The stop is called Hausmannsgate. Walking distance from Oslo Bus Terminal to the hotel: 10 minutes.By boat:If you arrive to Oslo with Stena Line or DFDS, the ferry will dock on Vippetangen. From Vippetangen you can take bus number 60 to Jernbanetorget (by the Central Station).From Jernbanetorget you can take tram number 12 and 13 and bus number 30, 31 and 32, which will take you to the hotel. The stop is called Hausmannsgate.If you arrive Oslo with Color Line you will dock on Hjortneskaia. Bus number 1 will take you to Jernbanetorget (by the Central Station). From Jernbanetorget you can take tram number 12 and 13 and bus number 30, 31 and 32 which will take you to the hotel. The stop is called Hausmannsgate.Taxi is available on both ports upon arrival.By Car:As you arrive Oslo at E18, you will come to a traffic machine next to the new Opera building. Take the road towards Gjøvik (Road number 4). After a few hundred metres at this road, drive straight ahead in the first roundabout, take a left turn in the second roundabout. After 50 metres in this street called Hausmanns gate, take a right turn in the first traffic light, on to Christian Krogh's street. Follow this street until the end and you will see Anker Hotel straight ahead.

Hotel being re-built as at 25th June 2009Please note that this is not a BAD hotel. However it is currently undergoing some major re-furbishment. So it is noisey, smelly, too hot, and they sometimes turn the water off.I would stay there again, but not while the refurb is going on!!

Oslo is a VERY expensive city. This hotel is the best and the price is very reasonable. It is clean as could be, comfortable and quite. The rooms are all done in an IKEA type furnishing. Very, very nice. The breakfast is outstanding.

The dining area was never cleaned properly the entire time we were there. (Rest of Hotel was good) I noticed the same small amount of dirt etc in the corners around the breakfast room every day. I also noticed persons coming in for breakfast who were not checked as actual B & B customers, also persons coming in taking bread and fresh fruit, filling a flask in their bag with milk and walking out. Obviously the hotel needs to check legitimate customers coming in for breakfast. I hope my report helps.

The hotel proper was quiet satisfactory and the breakfast was fine. The dining options otherwise quite limited and good ones a long way off. This section of Oslo is attractive. We could walk to the city center but it was a long walk that took us through old run down area. We visited in the summer and so had our windows open. There loud voices from the student apartments near by frequently through the nite. The personal were thoughtful, quick and friendly. Next time I would pay more to be closer to the city center.

A very average hotel that needs upgrading. The bathroom was not up to standard to my opinion, the shower and toilet were next to each other without wall separation but a curtain. It was not pleasant to have a shower by the toilet (and not very hygenic either). the room was very small, on the + side the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast buffet was ok, but the whole setup in the hotel is very old looking and needs upgrading, including the breakfast room. There is no direct tram going from the station to the hotel, and althought it is only a 10mn walk it's not so pleasant with luggage, and not such a great area to walk about alone in the evening. I'm surprised it is part of the Recommended Hotel program.

Bath facilities that were more for a hostel than for a hotel. Broken window could not be closed. Non working lamp. Room was generally clean and staff were friendly but this was not sufficient to offset poor quality of the facilities.

It is in the part of Oslo that is not so nice. Nice rooms, everything worked.

Breakfast from 07.00 - 10.00. When I came to east breakfast at 9.30 the warm part of the meal was cold. Orangejuice was mostly water. Except this, the service was good and the rooms neat and clean.

Five minute walk from Oslo Central station and 10 from centre and harbour, so very handy. Rooms facing crossroads were noisy with trams and traffic. Do note that the room keycards require you to lock and unlock the door to your room rather than the usual just unlocking! Overall the hotel was clean, comfortable and friendly and perfect for a stop over. Breakfast was hot and cold and really tasty with lots of choice.

This is a medium-sized, very friendly hotel that offers great value for money in one of the most expensive cities in the world. I had earlier stayed at the Radisson hotel Oslo that costs three times as much but where I had less service than at Anker Oslo. Free wifi makes it an even better deal.

A nice, cheap and semi-central hotel. (10 minutes walk to The main street, Karl Johans Gate). I'll definitively come back!

A really good place with free (!) internet access. Breakfast is ok and from 6.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m., they serve a light meal for 105 NOK (very cheap for norwegian circumstances). For city tours, the hotel is well situated for public transportation (day pass 60 NOK = 5$). The rooms are ok (not very spacious, but well furnished for norwegian circumstances); those with even numbers are quite noisy (they go to the street with busses and trams) - the others are quiet.

The room is a little small for a Best Western. The breakfast is generous though the breakfast room is rather like a cafeteria. We had a good price, about 130 euros, reasonable for Oslo which is an expensive city.

We arrived late and walked from station. Really dodgy characters creeping about. Don't think its a great area. Complete contrast during day, bright busy corner with trams and buses and lots of people. Staff were very relaxed and friendly. Nice breakfast, hot and cold. Our room faced the front and was noisy during the night with trams. Very central location, 15 minutes to the harbour and city's busy centre.
