Went to Taj Tagaytay and absolutely loved it. The staff were so accommodating and the food was excellent. We were served with Indian food on the first night and their trial Mediterranean cuisine for lunch the next day. Their tables are on the balcony so you enjoy the view while eating. When we were there the fog rolled in to the balcony. It was such a fantastic experience. We had the free back massage. They also have DVDs that you can borrow and watch for free. They have themed rooms, we stayed in the Cairo and it was so cozy. Highly recommended. 2 thumbs up

Firstly, I was expecting a big hotel with complete amenities but as I remember reading it from their site, it was only really a bed and breakfast with seven rooms and a small scenic spa and restaurant that can accommodate around 50 guests. So I reverted back to "less expectation mode" as we only availed of their promo rates -so obviously we can only get a spartan room and small breakfast. We availed of their Cairo's Kingdom Room for only less that PhP3,000 though the room doesn't have cable, we got a complete list of DVD titles. The room boy said the area is under Laurel, Batangas already and not Tagaytay and TAJ is under the coverage of a small cable company that cannot expand service to newly built businesses. But he said Taj is now about to install satellite TV connections. Being exposed to middle eastern food in Dubai for 5 years already, I think their greatest plus point is having this indian restaurant above their rooms. And its 24 hours! Overall, I think Taj is perfect for those couples looking for a great overnight getaway with some twist of unique food and service. Good Philippine Hilot massage by the way. Kudos to that therapist named Sonia.

Having read different reviews of Taj Bed and Breakfast in Tagaytay, I said to my husband that we have to visit this place with our son this Holy Week 2009 as a treat to him having passed his board exam. On the way there, traffic was horrendous! Looked like all roads lead to Tagaytay and Nasugbu beaches. We have been stucked for almost four hours from the expressway up to Aguinaldo Highway. Having passed the Tagaytay Zoo, we were worried that we already missed the establishment but then traffic was still slow and my son noticed and heard bollywood music blaring along the highway-we looked to the left (volcano view side) and there it was! TAJ! It took us 15 minutes before we were able to park as both sides of the highway were already a parking lot (non-moving vehicles). First impression? Where is the hotel? From the outside, Taj seemed like a very small restaurant structure without any hint of a hotel, inn or bed and breakfast. But when we were already inside-wow! The view was magnificent! They have this corner they call “Harem” where there are large glass windows overlooking Taal lake and volcano. The place is decorated with Indian interiors, thin fabrics with gold and silver sequence and design, nice comfy sofas. They also have hookahs also. From the “ Harem” and their viewing deck downstairs I said to my husband this is like the Ganges (“Ganga” in local parlance) of India when we visited South Asia last year (we are connected with an Indian IT company based in Makati). Though the establishment is still not finished with newly painted walls beside their coffeeshop, kitchen tiles are being installed that time and another room was being constructed beside their spa area- the place is beeming with South Asian feel only an indian or someone who visited India can truly appreciate. The room where we stayed was not that big but not that small-just enough for the three of us. Though it is not available on all rooms (no cable tv service in their area), we were lucky to have satellite tv connection in our room but they have a DVD player inside the room with DVDs to choose from. By the way, we did not avail our breakfast as we ordered indian food very early in the morning (their restaurant is 24 hour): Roti Channai and Curry Sauce. After the breakfast, we visited Caleruega-a wedding favorite hilltop church with parks and meditation center. We went back to Taj for the massage before noontime. We upgraded my son’s massage to Filipino Hilot as me and my husband just had the free back massage. A nice break from our stressful work in Makati. Taj Bed and Breakfast I would say is very simple, nothing fancy yet service is very, very good. Food is at par with Indian restaurants in Delhi and Bangalore.

It was our anniversary and I wanted to surprise my husband with a getaway in Tagaytay. I was worrying since I need to organize some things to create that great element of surprise. I called their frontdesk and asked if they are accommodating the following requests: 100 balloons inside the room, rose petals on the bed and in the bathroom, a specialized cake,a bottle of red wine and a "happy annniversary" tarpaulin signage. Although apprehensive because of the very short notice (a day before my reserved date, they gladly accepted but of course with an equivalent fee which I find affordable enough. But of course, do you quantify nor count the monetary value of the things you want to do for your loved one? We reserved the Casablanca room and it's really perfect for couples with its "intimate room size". We arrived around 330pm and we were greeted "Namaste" by very efficient staff named Chona and Shieldeen. Given the requests that were granted by the TAJ, I couldn't ask for anything more. Though I was expecting that it was a big establishment but who cares-it not a hotel but a bed and breakfast. Just looking at my husband's face when he saw the the surprises inside the guest room--its priceless! TAJ seem to be adding additional rooms and doing some renovation as there were incomplete areas when we were there. Can't wait to stay in their soon to be opened Turkish-themed Istanbul Heights room. We had a candlelight dinner in their viewing deck area--an open area which during day time has an almost 180-degree view of Taal lake and volcano and other areas of Batangas. The best part of the place is that there is an 24-hour Indian-Arab restaurant where Indians and Muslim go to when they visit Tagaytay. They say its the only place in Tagaytay that serves Halal food and South Asian-Middle Eastern cuisine. I would say this bed and breakfast's asset is their service and great package that you can avail. Namaste TAJ!

My husband and I chose this hotel based on its good reviews. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with the place. We booked the Valencia Hermosa room since it was holy week and this was the only room available. What we saw was really beyond our expectations...uncomfy bed, TV has no clear signal, wall corners has cobwebs, the room smells like it has just taken out of grandma's old wooden chest (baul in Filipino). It even looks like they never change the bed and pillow sheets. Since the 30-min back massage is included upon check-in, my husband upgraded his to foot massage and mine to 1 hr back massage for an additional 200 pesos each. Massage was just ok, nothing to rave about. The spa area was too bright due to sunlight (it was 4 in the afternoon when we had our massage). They should have at least made the spa area cozy and relaxing. We went out of Taj after the massage because I can't really bear to stay in our room. When we are about to go back to Taj, I insisted my husband to ask the receptionist for a room upgrade even if we have to pay more. Fortunately for us, there were 3 rooms available, the smallest one (without aircon), the biggest one (too big and too expensive for just the two of us) and finally the Casablanca room. The interiors were just okay, but definitely far better than the Valencia Hermosa room. Thank God there's no old granny's wooden chest smell :) The restroom was big enough but I was not satisfied with the cleanliness. As the same, it seems like they don't change bed and pillow sheets maybe except for the white mattress cover. I thought all along everything was okay, but when I looked over the window on the side, there was an opening for the airconditioning wirings, and when I looked up on the curtain rod, there was a big cockroach! This was really a hell of experience. My husband and I were not able to sleep well that night. Whew! For breakfast the next day, we had the Continental breakfast consisting of coffee, half slices of toasted bread, butter, egg and UNWASHED cucumber. Yes unwashed because there were still some soil on the outer layer of cucumber. I felt sorry for my husband because we notice this when he was about to eat my last slice of cucumber. Good for me I didn't bother to eat one. We then immediately prepared for a very early checkout. Customer service, however, was really good and nothing more.

The best bed and breakfast in Tagaytay. Package is great since the stay includes free breakfast and massage for two. Plus the view was amazing. Location is okay since it is at the far end of Tagaytay, perfect relaxation for our holiday break from busy life in Hongkong.
