My wife and I, a couple in our 70’s, stayed at the motel on Mon/Tue, 4/5 Aug, ’08 in ground floor king bed non-smoking room #110. Reservations were made on-line through the company website for a total rate of $124.00. Reservations and check-in at the motel were without problem. The motel, formerly the Azusa Inn, is an older two story “L” shaped well constructed building which wraps around the Mexican Casa Arcos restaurant on the NW corner of S. Azusa Ave and Gladstone Ave. with easy access to the motel from either street. Your stay is paid in full upon check-in and at that time you receive a TV remote and the code to utilize the Internet. We found the room to be large and sparsely but adequately furnished and it seemed clean although there was a slight odor or urine in the room. The bath and vanity area are combined. The bathroom was clean but with some peeling plaster and paint. Urine spots were noted on the toilet bowl rim and there was hair in the tub/shower. All lights were working and eight electrical outlets in the room allowed for whatever appliances the guest may be utilizing. The room refrigerator, which was without any dials or controls to control temperature, was unplugged and warm and started to cool on the first day but defrosted that night. It was also noted that the A/C, which was off when we arrived, worked well during the day but failed to function properly at night. This happened on both nights of our stay which leads one to believe there are dimmer or damper remote switches elsewhere. There is no coffee pot in the room. The bed was very comfortable but had only two small pillows. The room was very quiet. We noted only one trash can on the property and it was overflowing on our arrival. There is one soft drink vending machine and one “PAY” ice machine. The promised “Fresh Breakfast” consisted of two poorly blended artificial fruit drinks; regular ( no decaf ) coffee; Honey Buns, and one dry cereal. If you want milk for the cereal you have to ask the desk clerk and, if they are not on the house phone; the cell phone; the computer; busy with another guest, or in the back room living quarters, they will go to the back and bring you a quart of milk which you can use. They will then return it to the back room. TV reception was very good and there were numerous channels available including 3 in Spanish, 3 in Farsi, and I porn channel. The 15’ X 30’ pool was clean, as was the small spa although I did not see any of the very few guests utilizing either. Everything about the place screams “Cheap” and “Bare Bones” and I suspect that they may be better off renting two hour rooms and handing out clean sheets along with the remote and Internet code
