The room was dark and shading. They had dark drapers which perhaps made it all the more bad. The bedspread, sheats were old. Overall we were not satisfied with the way the room was. It had the comfort of amenities and room was big. But not very clean and neat.

I liked the free wifi - and nothing else. Major dislikes: dirty room and crazy neighbors Staying here was like living an episode of a late-night TV show; I half expected a filming crew to emerge from a dark corner at any second. The place apparently hosts some very long-term residents; soon after arrival one of the crazy ones accosted my (5-yr-old) son and I in the parking lot. The room was ill-lit and so filthy I feared unclothing for bed or taking a shower. I nearly called the police twice because of domestic violence in nearby rooms or the hall. I slept with the light on with the hope it would deter thieves. This hotel was, in a word, frightening. In all fairness, tho, I have to say that the front desk people were nice and I did appreciate the free wifi. Does that make it worth staying there again? Never ever.

Fortunately we stayed only one night! This place is a rip-off right from the start: No service whatsoever, the bell boy's breath smells like a pub after a busy night and his jokes aren't any better. The room was dirty, the bathroom was falling apart and the sheets on the bed haven't seen a washer since the last customer has used them. This all comes for * - enjoy!

Staff was accommodating. Neighbors were loud at very late hours - 1am & 4am.

I booked this hotel from home, two weeks prior to visiting during HIGH SEASON/Summer Solstice. Hotel rooms were scarce, got even more scarce as time went on. I arrived at the hotel on6/24/08 with my printed CONFIRMATION number in HAND, the entire notice I got after giving them my credit card number! The gal at the front desk spoke sparse English, checked her "folder" on the desk and then said, "I don't have you reserved. I am overbooked already. I cannot find you a room." I was turned away. With my flight not leaving for 12 hours. I was probably lucky, based on the reviews here. I will not even start to tell you how hard it is to find a hotel room in Anchorage at this time of year. WE never did. (I'll spare the details.) I would remove this listing from my website if I had any integrity (Travelocity, you have integrity!) and I would NEVER recommend anyone attempt to stay here. Thumbs way down. This place is not fit for business and left a bad taste in my mouth for Anchorage, AK. HORRIBLE. the only thing I will tell others about this hotel is that they should avoid it at all costs!

Have a laundry and a dryer facility. Beds placed on the hallway side are noisy; the heating boiler pipes are noisy. I know it as one of the older hotels in anchorage.

This hotel should not be listed on websites. The room was dirty with old hair in the bathroom corners, coffee grounds package was opened, no cups or sugar, no heat, and beds felt like bed springs were going to pop through. We had reserved 2 nights and when attempting to cancel the second night - had to pay for late cancellation. Words of advice - The price may be right... but it will not be an enjoyable stay.

It was in a good location to the Airport. The Parking lot was very small. The hotel offered services such as a wake up call, which never happened. Their parking was too small and cramp, to the point where it would be easy to get a finder binder by mistake. They also had parking in the back, which would make it incontinence for those you are on business. If there was a rating I would rate them as -10 for being dysfunction, but a 5 for being close to the airport. They also had a kitchenette in their rooms, which can be good for many who would use it, so for that I give a 4.

DO NOT stay here or be fooled by the cheap price. It isn't fit for your dog. I didn't think it could be as bad as reviews stated. IT WAS WORSE. MY Air Force son and his wife could not get into parking lot because of a party going on by people who were not even staying there and loud music and drinking going on. People were in the room they rented him. They felt VERY unsafe. They complained to the management. He yelled at them like a wild man. The hotel didn't have to live up to his standards. They got a room at another hotel. Would not reimburse him for the night.

Available at short notice; front desk help friendly. Noise; terrible bed; generally seedy feeling. We were desperate to find lodging within a range that justified us not making five additional trips of 147 mi. each plus wear/tear. You always had to sit on the less than comfortable bed to watch TV - no chairs whatsoever. It's in a part of town that made you wonder if everything in your car was going to be there in the morning or even if the car was going to be there in the morning! If we had not been desperate, we would not have even considered staying in this hotel.

The owners were very nice but their hotel is a complete D UMP! It needs a major facelift or, better yet, bulldozed and rebuilt. The airconditioning did not work in 2 of our 3 rooms. The lighting was poor or nonexistant. There were no screens in the windows and the cranks on the casement windows did not work. It was basically a place to flop for the night, nothing else.

1 room too hot, 1 room too cold, loud people around all times of the night. Didn't like it, wont stay there again.

"The staff was very friendly and accommodating, the room clean and comfortable. However, maintenance problems needed to be attended to such as a cracked window. Overall, because of the low cost and very convenient location (to airport and bus line), I would stay here again."

There was nothing good that I could say about this hotel. The location was in an extremely risky part of town. And the hotel was old with narrow hallways. The carpet was not clean, the rooms not finished. The hotel is located in Spenard an area of town with much crime. The hotel is very old with narrow long hallways. The hotel did not look or feel clean. The bed and bathroom were clean but the overall appearance was not good. I did not stay at this hotel but purchased another hotel for my stay in Anchorage. I recommend this hotel be removed from your list.

"There was no heat in the room so they brought a noisy little electric heater, the bed was like sleeping on rocks, there were no cups for coffee or water, and no condiments for the coffee(sugar, creamer, stirrers) and the entire place was noisy."

They do seem to be in the process of remodel and one of their staff was trying to be helpful. Service was lousy, no towels were available nor were any ever provided, did not feel secure. The hotel manager was very rude and did not provide any service when I complained about not receiving any bath towels during my entire stay. Did not feel secure in this neighborhood or hotel. The outside doors were left ajar and the back parking lot was cluttered with junk, cigarette butts and darkly lit. The hotel lobby did not have any cream for coffee and there were crumbs on the counter that had not been cleaned all day.

This hotel is run down and dirty. If you want a decent stay in Anchorage stay anywhere but here. We had three days booked but canceled the last day. Of course you have to prepay at America's Best Inns and they won't refund your money.

Upgrade room was nice and reasonably priced. Would have liked more carpet or throw rugs. One bed good, the other not. Was necessary to upgrade room. Bargain room price was attractive and a way to attract customers who would then want to upgrade. Staff honesty greatly appreciated. In a public area of the lobby, I misplaced a back pack with items personally valuable to me, and they held it behind the counter awaiting my return. Parking and security policies were somewhat inconvenient. Hotel is undergoing renovation and should be quite nice when finished.

"A very bad experience, old hair in the corners of the bathroom. missing vent cover, with at least two inches of dust in the vent. All tile floor with dirty spots all over, this is a place you need to sleep with socks or leave your shooes close for when you get out of bed in the morning. Open black cracks in the grout around the bath tub in an otherwise red grout."
Date of Stay:
October, 2005
It was very clean and the price was good. Lack of amenities such as a clock in the room. I would recommend this hotel only for people who are on a very tight budget. It was clean and the staff were pleasant enough, but it lacks amenities that I expect in a chain hotel, such as carpeting, an alarm clock in the room, a TV remote that works, and an ice machine. This was an independent hotel until apparently just recently.
