Upon arrival at this hotel we discovered that the police department was conducting a sting operation in the parking lot and had their guns drawn on several guests. The hotel's exterior is in disrepair and the rooms date back to the 70's. We checked in and discovered that the hotel has no elevator so we had to lug our luggage to the 2nd floor via a stairway that smelled like urine and looked like it hadn't been swept in over a year. Upon entry to our room we were met with curtains that were falling off their hooks, a dirty bathroom and 50's style furniture. To make a long story short, once we discovered the shape of the hotel room, we did an about face and went to the manager and immediately checked out and went to another hotel.

My family and friends came to Columbia for the night and made the unfortunate choice of selcting the America's Best Inn. I could only say so many times it was just for one night. Our shower was extremely dirty that I didn't feel comfortable using it. The tissue box was rusted, the water would not turn off and the sink had problems draining. The beds were not made and the curtains were so poor that the bright light shining into the room made it difficult to sleep. My friend in the other room pulled back her bed coverings to find a cigarette lighter under the covers. There was some unknown red spot on the floor near the bathroom and cockroaches in the bathroom. There were drunks wandering the hall following us which made me question our safety in the hotel.
