I really like staying in a older hotel for a change, that has a unique feel to it (especially in a city like Chicago). A block from lake michigan, all kind of eateries(franchises and privite)and bars within a few blocks. A really ideal location. Staff was good and friendly, but don't quite expect the service of let's say a major hiton hotel. Taxis and shuttle to both airports constantly circle the block. Very much recommended.

The pump room. Bugs all over windows and bed smelled like Mildew. Staff unfriendly. The room smelled mildewy, there were nat's on the window sills and bed, torn curtains and the elevators seemed to run 50% of the time. The staff was totally rude. Dirty smelly rooms and arrogant put off staff. I am sad to say the Ambassador has seen its better day and certainly no longer worthy of recommendation nor its 4 star level.

The hotel is gem in the Gold Coast. It is surrounded by fabulous shopping, restaurants, bike excursions, the beach, but it is also in a quiet spot. The service is excellent and the dining room is an outstanding event. The hotel was full and the guests were of all ages. Outstanding.

The hotel was clean and very nice. The staff was very helpful. Great location. It was safe and close to the subway. I would stay there again.

Bed was extremely comfortable room was spacious and clean. Only one complaint they charged an extra $9 per night for wifi. Felt that was not good costumer service. Didn't have a view of the lake. I would use this hotel again and hope too soon. I liked the location the cleanliest of the hotel. The employees where nice. Didn't see a pool heard another guest say they didn't have one. I didn't confirm as I didn't need one. I liked the gym was available 24 hours a day. They had 3 free computers. Only didn't like that wifi was an extra charge felt that was poor service. $9 a night was to high to charge for what I feel should be complimentary. Other than that something thing was extremely happy and please try Ambassador East Hotel I don't think you will be disappointed.

This hotel is located a few blocks from the Magnificent Mile and Lake Michigan. Everything you could possibly want to do is within walking distance. The hotel is very clean and the staff are very helpful. I would stay here again and again. I was here on business but plan to return on vacation with my family.

This is a very nice hotel at a quiet street but very close to dining and shopping areas as well as to the lake shore. I like particularly that the hotel building has the charm of an old grand hotel. Very comfortable room at a great location.

Overall sense of elegance. Room could use updating. Location was perfect for accessibility to everything, including the bus that goes all the way south to museums. Lobby is lovely, with gorgeous floral arrangements and quiet elegance. While the guest room was very spacious, it could use a face lift. We were comfortable but not overwhelmed.

there was not a pool, we would have brought our grandchild. We were shocked about having to pay $45.00 per day for parking, we should have been told that. The lobby was beautiful, rooms were small escpecially the bathroom. Location was pretty good.

Very friendly staff, comfortable beds, clean and nicely decorated rooms. Nothing that I can think of. Great place to stay; friendly and helpful staff; clean and comfortable rooms.

Can not beat the location and it has a lot of charm, however be prepared to spend approx. 41 per night in parking which they do not tell you about and to boot their website had mis-quoted the cost to begin with. Just ask ahead of time so you're not blind sided.

Picked the hotel only for the price and was pleasantly surprised that it was in the best location with comfortable clean rooms. Service was above par. Definitely would not stay anywhere else if I visit Chicago again.

The staff was wonderful - went out of their way for us. Very charming, great neighborhood. Could use a little updating. Exceeded our expectations. Bell men and front desk staff were so friendly and helpful. Rooms were spacious, very charming. Hotel has character. Short taxi ride to main downtown area but lovely streets capes and cafes nearby. Felt very safe walking the neighborhood.

From the start, the service was impeccable. Very nice hotel, though be aware dining is expensive. Quiet and secure.

This hotel was in a great location-close to the Red Line and Lincoln Park. The room was huge and very quiet.

Classic, service oriented. Single room a bit cramped. This is a classic hotel with lots of history located off the beaten track of downtown but still centrally located. It is quaint and the staff is service oriented. There is allot of history and well, the Pump Room is a devine place to dine.

The people on staff at the hotel were grate and the room was clean and large. The only down side was that I can hear the people in the next room.

Mosquitoes everywhere. The hotel is run down already. It:s not worth a 3.5 star at all. I will never go back again.
