The hotel is great. Perfect location for us and the staff always accommodates our needs. We have been there many times and we always look forward to our stay.

Great bedding, nice haircare products. Slow service. Stayed during a family trip to the city with our two young children. Liked the breakfast that came with the room. The view was of the alley and the hotel itself offered little in the way of amenities. For what we paid however, I was a little disappointed.

Breakfast: The buffet on each floor is a great idea. However, toasters on each floor would be extremely useful. I would also love to have bread toast in addition to muffins and pastries. The hot water containers to make tea and coffee is not usually hot enough. Room facilities: The coffee maker is great to make your own coffee but not to make tea. A kettle in the room would be just perfect.

The service upon entering was very nice, but the lobby was very tiny. The room was the smallest room I've ever stayed in with 2.5 feet on either side of the bed. The drawers and the doors on the furniture were broken and the sink cracked in the bathroom. There was to be continental breakfast each morning by the elevators, there was the first 2 nights, but not the third. If we had known ahead of time, we could have made other plans for breakfast before sprinting to the airport, but no one gave us any advance warning. If this was a 2 or 3 star hotel, I could have lived with it, but it is priced and rated as a 4, so I expected more.

The hotel was wonderful. Centrally located, one block from the Magnificent Mile and directly across the street from Harry Carey's! The breakfast in the morning was perfect. Plenty to eat. Cocktail hour was the best. They had all the premium choice liquors? to choose from, along with some very delicious appetizers. Comfortable bed and a very roomy bathroom. We will definitely stay here again.

The hotel staff were excellent. We arrived early from Charotte, NC and were given a room at 9AM in the morning!! That was completely unheard of in any of my husband and I previous hotel experiences. It was great and we were able to get much needed rest in a comfortable bed.

Clean, free breakfast and free cocktail hour. No fancy foyer, expensive overnight parking.

I would highly recommend the Amalfi to anyone visiting Chicago. It is very central to the downtown area and within walking distance of many attractions. It is certainly not the cheapest option (not sure I would want the cheapest option anyway) but offers great value with continental breakfast and evening Hors de oeuvres and drinks included. The staff are most helpful, courteous and friendly. Rooms are clean, fresh and well serviced. If you're going to Chicago definitely stay at the Amalfi.

This hotel is highly recommendable. Decorated with keen taste and many clever touches, it is a good example of how a little focused attention gets very far. The room came with breakfast and it was by far the best simple breakfast I've seen in the US. Location is central but quiet. Rooms are quiet. Beds were very cpmfortable. Everything very clean. It is worth paying ab it extra for leaving content!

I suppose if I were there on business I would stay at this hotel. But for vacation...our view was the top of the building across the street and construction. There isn't a pool or a restaurant in the building. They do offer room service through their partnership with Harry Caray's Italian Steakhouse, but the cost is astronomical. The House of Blues is just around the corner, that's good. The hotel staff were friendly. The room didn't get quite cool enough, and it was small.

My friend and I enjoyed our stay at the Amalfi mostly because of the great guest service at the hotel. The staff was friendly and accomodating in every situation and went out of their way to do so. The room was a little bit smaller than we expected - but the beds were comfortable and we had enough space for our needs. Good location too as we felt close to just about every part of the city that we wanted to check out.

Great location, very chic. Loved this hotel. If I wanted to show off Chicago to a newbie, this would be the best hotel to stay at and do such.

Cost of International phone calls was exorbitant as compared to standard AT&T international rates, and AT&T are their Telephone provider. Free broadband was very useful Good location and helpful friendly staff

Husband & I visited for long weekend and we really enjoyed this hotel! The cocktail hour at night was a great addition and a nice place to relax before heading out for the night. You may want to get there early because the room is kinda small and gets crowded early. Rooms nice and hotel is pretty convenient to most things. We will definately stay here again when visiting Chicago.

I was expecting phenominal customer service from the hotel staff by the way the hotels website goes on an on about it but instead received rather mediocre service. The telephones in the room did not work so we were forced to walk down to the lobby anytime we needed anything or had any questions. Our remote control did not work and it took them two days to provide us with a new one. Also, the restaurant they use for room service is TERRIBLE. Our food was beyond burned and incredibly overpriced. On the plus side - the rooms were nice, the hotel is in a nice location and the daily breakfast and happy hour were nice to have. I would stay again but will stay away from room service and hope that the front desk is a little more accomodating next time.

We planned a little getaway to take our children to the American Girl doll store and to see the sites. The Amalfi welcomed the children and was very accomodating to our family. This hotel had a very friendly staff and a great location.

Check in delayed by 2 hours because of late check outs (which they charge extra for). No compensation offered to me while checking in on time. Package left at front desk never delivered. Had to be mailed days later. Room was clean and fresh looking. Employees were presentable (even though they sit wearing their winter coats because the huge sliding glass doors let in blasts of chilling chicago air every 5 seconds). Breakfast at elevator lobby was great. No paper at door in morning. Free DVD rentals at front desk was nice touch. Didn't see an ice machine on my floor. Boutique prices for standard service. Overall disappointment from what I was expecting.

The Amalfi is located in downtown Chicago close to everything. We could walk 2 blocks and be on Michigan Ave. The bus system is excellent and the people in Chicago are very helpful and friendly. Our hotel staff were very informative and glad to help with any request. From the doorman to the receptionist, the people setting up the free breakfast, the custodial staff, everyone was friendly and always asking if we needed anything. The social at the end of the day is wonderful offering free drinks and appetizers. You have to try their famous Amalfini, it's EXCELLENT. I wish we could have stayed for months! One of the best vacations we have had bar none. Perhaps we can win a trip or someone will offer to send us back soon. :) If not, we will save for another trip one day.
