Alva House is a small but very friendly guest house and your hosts are Alan and Avril , who will go out of their way to make your stay in Edinburgh a memory to treasure. The house is a recently renovated large bungalow and all guest rooms are situated on the 1st floor level. You also have access to the sun trap conservatory and the residents lounge. The house is on a main bus route ( 24 hours a day) and all the events of the Festival can be reached in about 15-20 minutes.. The airport is about 15 minutes drive away and transfers are available by prior arrangement. Parking at the house is available and is free 24 hours a day

Very expensive for a bedroom without a TV. The patron is a smoker which is obvious from the second you walk in.

In Edinburgh for RugbyFriendly couple who made us feel very welcome, hospitality second to none. Nice, clean house. Would definately stay again.

the rooms are attic rooms with slooping roofs, the bed we had was very low no legs or sufficient height, no good for the elderly.the shared bathroom, we had a problem with the toilet flushing had to wait 30 min between flushes.the owners are very friendly and try their best to make your stay a welcome onebreakfast was very good with plenty of choice.off road parking is available with a very good bus service into the centre of edinburgh, onbus number 44. one way cost £1.20 or all day ticket £3 which you can use as often as you wish

This was a very freindly palce to stay! Right from ringing the door bell to leaving you were made to feel very much at home. Alan and Avril went out of their way to ensure that our stay was relaxed and hassle free. The only negative side was that the room was not en suite, but the room itself was clean, tidy and spacious, with lovely views over Edinburgh.A very big thank-you to Alan and Avril.
