I arrived at the hotel (just getting into the place was an interesting task) only to find that my cell phone did not work at ALL. My cell phone rarely is unable to pick up a signal but apparently 'no cell phones' work there. As I was in Boulder on business and use my cell phone all day - this was not a workable deal for me. Sooooo there I was - in Boulder - late in the day - with no place to stay. The owners refused to give me a refund and after numerous heated conversations with Orbitz I got the last night of my stay refunded. Again - there I was - no place to stay - already a night's fee in the hole - tired - frustrated..... The lady at the front desk kindly referred me to the Bradley Inn in town. There was cell service there, a friendly greeting and snacks available upon arrival! Pooooo on Orbitz for not disclosing pertinent information. It IS 2009. Most people depend on their cell phones for business. If you are in an area that has not service - make CERTAIN it is BLATANTLY obvious on your website!

Absolute Luxury! I was on a business trip and needed a mid-range hotel close to the UC campus. I chose Alps rather than one of the dingy mid-range options in town. Wow! I am so glad I did. For an extra 5 minute drive through a lovely canyon park, I got a beautiful mountain lodge nestled into the side of a cliff; a lovely wooded area with a river across the street. The lobby area has an enormous stone fireplaces and a large, open, log-cabin feel, comfortable sitting area, with complementary coffee, tea, hot chocolate and cookies all day. The room itself was fully carpeted, very clean, nice bathroom and shower, with a solid, comfortable bed and cable TV (which was a little small, but had DVD and VCR as well) classically combined with antique style lamps and wooden wardrobe, desk, and boudoir. But on top of that, it had a mountain side porch and a beautiful working fireplace complete with easy-to-light log (not gas!). I have never been on a business trip where I could come back at night, sip hot chocolate in my room beside a real fire while I flipped channels, and then fall asleep to the light of the fire dancing on the walls. Then to top it off, there was a full, GOURMET breakfast the next morning in the beautiful dining area with yet another huge fireplace and a lovely deck for warmer days (not while I was there!). I can?t wait for my next business trip (vacation?!) to Boulder! Ten stars!

We stayed in the Magnolia Suite which has a working fireplace jacuzzi. The bed was so comfortable that I am looking into buying the mattress for my home. The attention to details was apparent with walk though of the facility and room features at check in. Fresch oatmeal rasin cookies and hot tea and coffee are available 24 hours per day in the lobby which has a fireplace and comfortable lounge furniture. The staff was warm, friendly and accommodating. I will likely stay here again if vacationing in Boulder. Although the Inn is located in the mountains, driving to Pearl Street Mall and other central locations took 10-15 minutes (the roads were free of snow during our stay). For business I might consider staying elsewhere as the Inn's mountain location prevents cell and wireless internet connection; I was unaware of this until informed during check in. The Inn does allow nation wide phone calls at no charge. Also note, the Inn is located directly off of Boulder Canyon Drive which cuts through the mountains and the locals have a way of zipping along such mountain roads at speeds that are a bit intimidating for visitors (I'm a Denver native and graduate of CU Boulder and still felt a bit weary when followed by a local). It felt as though we were making a mad dash to turn onto the driveway of the inn and another mad dash when leaving -- timid drivers beware. Overall, it's a wonderful find!

This is a beautifully furnished, very comfortable inn with a lovely dining room and an excellent hot breakfast. The setting in Boulder Canyon right on Boulder Creek is spectacular and yet just 4 miles from downtown Boulder and the University of Colorado. My only complaint is that a few small things didn't work right. There were bulbs in the recessed lighting that were burned out, a shelf in the bathroom was loose and coming off the wall and my door to the adjacent patio was broken so I couldn't use it to go out to the patio but had to walk around through adjacent hallway. Also, my bed was not "pillow topped". Fix those few samll things and this place is truly stellar.

Found a great price for this hotel for a February trip to Boulder. It's a few miles up the canyon behind town, it took 5 minutes to drive to the hotel. The owners greeted me and took me to my room; all handled flawlessly. Nice breakfast in the morning. Would be a great spot to revisit in the summer as well.

The breakfast alone is worth staying here, but add the historical building, the friendly staff (including the dog!!), and it's a real winner. The driveway is hard to find, especially at night, so a sign may have helped. Really cute place. Be sure to keep an eye out for hummingbirds.
