FriendlyStayed one night. Stayed in one of the cheapest rooms, which may have been a mistake. The room was overlooking Milton Rd and was pretty noisy. If possible I would suggest asking for a room overlooking the garden. The room was small (to be expected given the low price) and got a little hot. Unfortunately, due to time constraints, I was unable to enjoy the large garden, but it looked like it would be very nice for a summer afternoon/evening. The main draw would be the friendly staff. There was always someone around and he was extremely helpful. A downside would be that breakfast was only served 8am - 9am, but you didn't have to decide in advance if you would be needing any, just asking in the morning was enough.Overall, a positive experience.

TattyWhen I arrived the front door was unlocked. There was no reception so I had to wander around looking for a member of staff. The bed was clean and comfortable but the room was very tatty and the shower was just a dribble. The room was at the front of the house near a main road and was quite noisy. Basically its like staying in someone's spare room they haven't decorated since the 1970s. A short walk from the city though so convenient.

NO room at the InnWhen we arrived at the Alpha Milton, we were a surprise to the manager. Apparently they never received our reservation from laterooms.com. They were full! They were kind enough to help arrange alternate accommodations which were just adequate.

Cost effective family accommodation in CambridgeReasonable prices, double glazing keeps the noise out, friendly service, close to shops and places to eat, 20 minutes walk to the centre of town, a little "tired" in places (the fan in the bathroom is rather loud and the overhead fan was so noisy it was not usable) but good honest budget priced accommodation close to facilities and the town centre. And there is some parking available off street.

Bad HotelThe room is too small, and noisy because it's near the main road.

Good value accomodation in great location, ideal for groupsThe accomodation was perfect for a low cost break for a group of 6 men. It's a 10 minute walk from the city centre so a great location and crucially we were able to keep the cost down by getting 3 single beds in 2 rooms. I initially looked at booking a Travelodge or similar chain hotel but this was more central and better value. The owner was very friendly and made us at home on arrival. There's no doubt the accomodation is basic, but each room had a small bathroom (just about enough room for a toilet, sink and shower), tv and tea/coffee making facilities.Car parking is limited and we had to park on the pavement as the 6 spaces in front of the building were all used up (although this seems to be the thing to do in Cambridge) and 1 of the vehicles did get damaged during our first night as it seems someone took a kick at a wing mirror (just unlucky as the area seemed fine).Breakfast was okay though a very limited menu. The AMGH does also have a nice garden to relax in and wait for the slower members of your group to get up!I would recommend this guest house for groups looking for value and location.

Arrived earlier than expected and room not quite ready. We were invited by very friendly owner to stay in the dining room 'til it was ready. Clean, comfortable accommodation quite close to town centre. Good value for money

Pleasant HotelVery pleasant hotel in a central location just a ten minute walk from the city centre. The room was very spacious with a lovely view over the garden. The ensuite bathroom was compact.

I didn't realise establishments like this still existed except in the minds of tv comedy writers. I didn't actually see an antimacassar, but I wouldn't have been at all surprised. Every wall seemed to be covered in prints of cute little girls with blonde ringlets cuddlling a puppy or surrounded by 'ickle bunny wabbits.I've given the food a 2, but only because the poached eggs I had for breakfast had actually been properly poached. The toast was rubbish - white Mother's Pride - aarghh! Otherwise it would have been a zero. When the proprietor asked me if I'd like tea or coffee, I said 'Is it real coffee?' He looked nonplussed, so I said 'Is it instant coffee? - and he confirmed that it was. I had a pot of tea.In every coffee shop in every town in England it's now possible to buy about 20 different varieties of coffee, nearly all of them based on a decent hit of espresso. Anyone who thinks that a cup of Nescafe is an acceptable thing to offer your guests should get out more...

Very nice accommodation - friendly owner and conveniently located for a stroll into town (approximately 10 minutes walk). Room was fine, but we were unfortunately left on the ground floor next to the main dining / sitting room and it did get quite noisy with people coming and going. Couldn't be helped due to limited availability, but best to request a first floor room if you have the option!
