Nice neighrborhood, there was this buffalo place across the street which was good. Nice staff, recommend to any of my friends.

Itwasawesome! The stairs were loose a little. It was perfect for our budget.

It was ok for the money. The problem was the musty smell in the room. We went and bought some room deodorizer right away and that seemed to take care of most of it. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were nice sized. The pool was always locked so we couldn't use it and there wasn't much parking, but you find that all over town. We were always able to find a parking spot close to the hotel.I guess we got what we paid for.

Great location, comfortable room, clean as I could've asked for. The stairs were loose a little, no big deal. We could walk really close to Walgreens, bars, food etc. small view of the bridge, friendly staff, clean bathroom and bed, great price.

Check in was easy. The majority of the staff were very pleasant and accomodating. The room was large and bedding, furniture etc all clean and not worn. There was a fridge and a microwave. That all good. However the floors really squeaked, the halls smelled like damp mould and part of the ceiling in the hall was falling down. Railings felt unsafe. I was prepared for the busy area and I've stayed in enough European B&B's that I dont expect 4 star and can deal with quirkiness. However my girls were rather uncomfortable with the other tenants, mostly male, some leaving the emergency exit propped open so they could sneakout and smoke, men continously working on cars in the parking area so we couldn't open our curtain or go to the window without attracting attention. ALL of that aside,..the clinker was no hot water in the am. When discussing this with the mgr he laughed and said that being on the 3rd floor meant we had to have patience: that it might take some time. I was very polite and asked if there was any way to renegotiate staying at the hotel as this was a very special time for me and my dtrs after some losses in our family (and this was only night one and we had 2 more to go) He became somewhat irritable with me and said there was no negotiating and if I was to choose to leave it had better be before 4 or he would be charging me an extra day...which if you do the math made No Sense at all.... Needless to say I went back to the room, my dtrs finished taking cold showers and we packed up and found another hotel...Live and learn. I had to pay out for this other hotel and forget about any money spent at the ALPHA. No wonder I can only afford to go away for a few days only every few years!!! My advice, spend a bit more and go somewhere else. I would never go to the ALPHA again....

Convenience/access to major streets in SF. The rooms were not as clean as they should have been (half eaten pie in frig) Hotel keys not working in doors and a rat visited in our room.

The amenities are the cheapest, the soap is so tiny it can disappear in your hand within seconds, and basically it is run with the cheapest possible at overhead. Just let one of your inspectors stay at this hotel sometime, and I think they will immediately understand why this hotel is a one star hotel.

Easy check-in, no problems. Stairs were crooked. Friendly, helpful, and comfortable.

Clean, convenient, fridge, kitchen counter and coffee pot a plus. Free parking. Noisy location. Limited parking. If you are looking for an affordable, clean, basic, conveniently located, safe place to stay in SF this is it! Just blocks from the Exploratorium and Union street Shopping. Easy access to public transportation. Free but limited parking. Even a small heated pool! Small fridge, kitchen counter and coffee maker a plus.

Affordable, clean, convenient, friendly staff. Limited parking. For the price it was what we expected. It was clean and the hotel manager was very friendly.

Good location, walk to great shops. Bus at door. Room had no window, hot. Poor bed. Needs refurbishing. A cheap hotel. If you can get this hotel cheaper enough then worth a try. Basically good just to sleep here. I would not hang around the room, a little depressing. Could do with a good refurbishment. Small pool if you needed to cool off but not really an attraction. Good location between Chestnut and Union street shops. Good buses at door and nearby.

Seemed like staying in an apartment. Lack of parking space. Will stay again. Was a very comfortable place to stay. Liked the fridge and microwave. Also couch and apartment style.

Room was large, location convenient. Extremely rude staff, filthy rooms, filthy everything. Yuck.

The room was spacious and economical. It was a suite for the price of an efficiency. Great value! It was old and very limited parking. The Alpha Inn is a definitely a place if you want to enjoy San Francisco on a tight budget. The rooms are spacious and the hotel is centrally located. It is a 5 minute bus ride to the Golden Gate Bridge and walking distance from the Palace of Fine Arts. The neighborhood is safe (except for the crazy lady that lives on Divisadero Street. Don't park in her driveway). The only downside to this hotel is the noise from being on a main street and the limited parking. If you are used to city life (like me) then the noise is no problem, if not (like my wife) then you may have a hard time sleeping. If you get parking, leave the car there for the rest of the time in San Francisco. The hotel is on Lombard St, so public transportation is more convenient. It is a two star hotel with a lot to offer. My family and I highly recommend it and plan on going back again.

Convenient location, great access. Front desk person was rude but cleaning lady nice; quiet place. I liked the location, it was unbeatable. The front desk guy was so rude, but otherwise, it was fine.

Bed did not have bugs. Seemed clean. Quite rundown. Cheap, ok for quick business trip where you only want an inexpensive place to sleep.
