This will be out 9 th trip to Barbados and our 3 rd trip to the Allamanda it is starting to feel like home. People are the best very friendly and helpful. They are the sweetest thing there is and always happy to help you out. The breakfast is great and the location also. There are many places to eat with in walking distance it just has it all. the beach is wonderful since the finished the board walk. a short walk to Accura beach along the beachwhere you can get good deals at the little huts, we just love it there and have been to many diffrent islands but Barbados is the best. it doesn't get any better than this.

there were 8 of us total, in 4 different rooms. some of the rooms were awesome, some were aweful - the difference was in the windows that faced the road - as the hotel is right on the main strip, and the front of your room is facing this busy road where horns are always honking. if you get a room that has solid windows that close tight - no problem. if you get a room that has the long rectangle glass panes that roll out to open - ask for a different room because those windows do not close tight enough to block the noise. and dont freak out about how hot the room is - the A/C does work, but it will take a full day to get the room cool (they are big rooms with small a/c). if you want to enjoy the beach, just plan on a 2 minute walk - head to the beach and if facing the beach go to your left. there is a great beach for boogie boarding and lots of vendors right there to rent you a board, chair or umbrella. this hotel is a GREAT value for the money. the location is noisy, but convenient to local shops and restaurants.

inexpensive,yes but you get what you pay for: faulty electrics, missing fire extinquisher, leaky bath fixtures , moody windows...in sum : needs maintenance ////////////// on the other hand it is charming, well located, friendly , helpfull [ in 2 visits 06 and 08 only met one bad apple ]...............of note : AAA pulled the property in sept. 08 [ tho it is still in their nov. 08 book ] as it " no longer needs our standards "...............we would return if substantial improvements were made to the mechanical infrastucture , but otherwise we would sadly pass this property by ....we rate security and safety at the lowest not because of security but because of safety [ concern for electrical system [[[[ or lack thereof !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ]]] ...]

This is a quaint older hotel in a good location. The staff is excellent, the breakfast delicious, the room views beautiful, nice quiet pool, honest housekeepers, helpful front desk people. It is not fancy or new by any means, but it is clean and friendly. (The beds could use replacing.) We felt at home immediately, and enjoyed our weeks stay. We felt secure day and night. During the week of Nov. 7-14, 2008, there was still some construction nearby, but it wasn't too noisy. However, on Fri. nights a nearby Disco can be heard until 2 A.M. , but it is only on Friday nights. The shuttle to the Amaryllis was as promised, and their beach is nice and free chairs are provided. The convenience store in the hotel has drinks half the price of the outdoor bar, just bring your own ice and cups. If you want to stay later than the shuttle times provided, you can walk back to the Allamanda (takes 30 minutes,) or take a bus for .75 cents (US)- Buses pass by frequently. The coffee place next door to the hotel has great sandwiches and salads for lunch for about $9. (US) All of the "Best of Barbados" coupons were easy to use. The Tiami, Jungle Adventure, and Oistins fish fry were all great, and coupons made them affordable. The Oistins dinner was free!, you just have to pay for drinks. All things considered, this is a nice little hotel for what we paid, and we were very pleased!
