Set on the western edge of Melbourne’s CBD (City Center) is the Kingsgate Hotel. It is close to almost every major downtown destination and within easy distance of the most popular locations in the city. It is only five minutes from the Telstra Dome and Melbourne Aquarium and a few minutes more to the restaurants of Southbank and the lush landscape of the Melbourne Cricket Grounds among many other areas.

Wished i had never booked here after reading other peoples reviews.Well guess what they were right.The room I had booked on line was not offered and when asked to be moved was booked out.Room with a double bed was so small it was not funny.One positive the bathroom ensuite was very clean.Hallway very noisy.

Kingsgate is somewhat old hotel. However, it has proper renovations in the rooms and is a comfortable place to stay as a budget traveller like me. Overall, I got satisfied with the vaule for money I paid for this hotel.

Found the room very small - one side of the double bed was pushed against the wall, had to clamour over partner to reach the bathroom.

need more facilities in teh rooms, and they are not moderen at all maybe chnging the colour of the walls in the rooms and changing the dooners would be ideal. customer service was exceptional!

Wonderful. The room we were in was perfect for the week-end. If we were staying longer a bigger room would have been better but this one was perfect. Very well presented and clean. Bathroom was very nice, big and well appointed.

shared bathroom facilities were very basic and included no toilet paper on the saturday morning! despite signs urging water saving, shower was constantly dripping and impossible to turn completely off.

Very helpful and friendly staff, in particular 'Joel'. Joel made us feel like welcome friends rather than merely hotel guests. Thank you and we will definitely return if we need to have overnight stay(s) in Melbourne.

This place is disgusting. There is no airconditioning or fans in the rooms the rooms are like saunas, also not good customer service whatsover.

Basic Hotel, Great Location, helpful and friendly staff. It's not 5 star hotel but it's good value for money. Probably suited to overnight/weekend stays rather than long holidays as the facilities are minimal.

The shared room we had was very noisy as there was some kind of air conditioning unit by the window, this kept us awake but apart from that all was OK.

I know I paid economy rates but I was surprised how basic the facilities were, I have had better at youth hostels. However the staff were friendly if a little negative when asked for help. Everywhere above eye level was covered in dust and in some places cobwebs. The hot water was barely hot and there were no facilties to make a cuppa, no irons, no tissues. The best thing about the place was the location - central to everything.
