Food at Alexandra Hotel, Fort William Starter chosen was Chicken liver parfait served on toasted brioche - fine except there was no brioche! Main course was Sea Bass served on base of Mashed Potato - accompanied by "more mashed potato + more small potatoes, weary courgettes and red cabbage" - most unimaginative and probably one of the worst fish dishes I have ever eaten. The bread and butter pudding which followed was awful! We went out for dinner on our second night! I think they need a new chef or even better a new manager that can mange staff.

A hotel that is central in Fort William with train station and bus station close by with the town right on the door step. The reception area and check in is of a good standard with friendly staff. The rooms are clean however they could do with a more modern look as they feel a little dated. The large room where breakfast is served is reasonable and the actual breakfast is to a good standard. If the hotel was brought up to date then the cost of the rooms would be justifiable but as it stands a little over priced for the experience. I would not stay here again unless a more modern feel to the rooms was made.

i had an enjoyable 2 day stay at this hotel, room was fine but was a bit on the warm side at night even with window open. i dined in the hotel restaurant on both nights and both the service and food was good, however a word of caution, if you wish to dine in the restaurant make sure you book up in advance. i would certainly go there again. location is right in the town with car parking and close to the railway station. Great for long weekendReally liked the hotel as it had character. Ok some people might whine about a slow lift, squeaky floors and old sash type windows but the building had more character than a new similarly priced whatever-lodge cell.Location was perfect and the Staff were also very friendly and helpful and if Igo back to Fort william I will stay there again.

ImpressedNice hotel. Great location. Very friendly and helpful staff. We were given a double room instead of a twin but quickly rectified with very little fuss.Would happily stay there again.

Relaxing holidayI had booked this room for my parents who were in Scotland for the first time. They absolutely loved the experience of staying at this hotel. The rooms were beautifully maintained and well stocked with amenities, the views were lovely, and the staff were very helpful. The hotel was located right at the heart of the town centre, yet away from any noise or disturbance. The food was quite good as well.

When booking with late rooms we allways get a room overlooking the central well of the hotel which resembles a large ashtray,so you need to close the curtains.however superior room very nice, great shower, nice food and staff.

well deserved comfort at the end of the WHW!!This hotel was booked because our usual hotel never responded to our request for availability. I am glad to say that i was not disappointed with what was originally our 2nd choice and would definitely stay at the Alexandra Hotel again without hesitation.

Nice room and pretty good overall experience but not cheap. Use of the pool at sister hotel in town is a good idea.

Hotel has been pleasingly updated since my last visit. Reception staff were efficient and helpful. The staff in dining rooms were polite and efficient but as a solo traveller some conversation would have been welcome.

Good value holiday hotelBefore arriving at the Alexandra, I'd been warned that it was a bit dull and threadbare. Having stayed here I'm pleasantly surprised. Yes, the hotel is in need of a spruce up in certain areas, yes the decoration is slightly old fashioned and no more so than in the dining room. However, the hotel is very clean, and my travelling companion and I (I was travelling with my grandfather)got the bonus of an upgrade from single rooms to twins which made things very comfortable for us. The reception and dining room staff were very professional and I've never seen a busy breakfast service run any more efficiently, even in 5 star hotels. The hot buffet breakfast food was of a very high standard. What more could you want from a 3 star holiday hotel?

A bit pricey, but facillities excellent, worth a treat!!I've stayed here several times before, and keep coming back. The facillities are superb, always a warm welcome, helpful friendly staff and two superb dining facillities, buffet breakfast in the large hall, and a first-class restaurant, also open to non-residents. Ideally situated opposite Fort William Rail and Bus Station facillities.
