Cheap but CheerfulAnyone who books this hotel and expects the Ritz is just stupid. This hotel is rock bottom price and therefore certain aspects of the hotel reflect that. Having said that, this place is slowly realising its potential. Alas, the stair carpet could really do with replacing but, as the room upgrades are still ongoing, that would probably be a waste of time and money at the moment. Our (brand new) bathroom was very nice but the plumbing itself was a little inferior. This may resolve itselve once the works are complete. I appreciate what the current owners are trying to do, but the place had obvioulsy been very out of date when they took over and they've had a mountain to climb.I have read reviews complaining about noise at night. This is Glasgow city centre...of course there's noise!The location is nothing short of fantastic. It's on Argyle Street for goodness sake! Anyone who says this hotel is in the red light district either doesn't know Glasgow is is lying to you. That's about a mile away. Yes, there is a sex shop two doors along, but at first glance it just looks like a lingerie store. The front window is tastefully done and the kids won't ask any awkward questions. Do not let this put you off, the Radisson is directly across the road!!I could not fault the breakfast, which was as good as I have had anywhere, and better than some much more expensive hotels! The breakfast area is being renovated, but the large lounge area currently being used for this purpose is already fully refurbished and very pleasant indeed.If, like us, you are planning to do little more than sleep and eat breakfast in the building and you can handle a bit of shoddy decor here and there, this is the place for you!

Old hotel in downtown, 100 yards from train station and pedestrian walk and shopping, night life. Lots of bars with live entertainment. Good pub next door. Bathrooms are new and clean and in the room.We came in by train and took 2 trips (Edinburgh and Mallaig) on train, so very convenient. Staff was very helpful. Free breakfast buffet was good. I found nothing to complain about.

Breakfast was great, hot and freshly cooked. Beds were ok. Staff were extremely friendly and hardworking. Hard to locate using address number on Argyle Street. No shop has a number on it. 100m from central Station next up from Weatherspoons, which serves a decent pint. Blue lagoon chip shop below railway station does magnificent old fashioned fish supper, the way they should be.

Not as good in real lifeThe hotel looked very nice from the website, partly why i chose it, when i got there the appearance was not great, the staff were friendly enough but the room was smaller than expected and was not as clean looking as most hotels, the towels were really poor, like they have been used a million times, i did ask for new ones but they were the same. The hallway carpets needed a vacuum as did the bedroom. The breakfast was plentiful but the quality was not great, the sausages looked under cooked and I tink they used the cheapest of everything. I know I only paid £44.00 for the room but i think basic standards should be the same everywhere. I wish now I had booked into a travellodge at least there you know what your getting. Overall not a great experience and I would not use this hotel again.

My hotel room window was broken but I got moved to another room later. I felt that I was expected to accept the room with the broken window. Breakfast looked lovely, but despite steam coming from the buffet bain marie the food was bearly warm. The beanswere dried and stuck on the tray and the dozen already fried eggs were congealed together. Not the best advert for food or something to encourage visitors to return, especially for 58.00 per night.

very noisey from no double glazing and being off the street, traffic a problem. breakfast slightly disappointing as the filling up system of food a bit slow, some food cold and hard on buffet server. ? how long had been sitting out and if this room was a superior I wouldn't of liked to see the standard. Overall disappointing really rooms could do with a complete over haul.

If you're looking for something basic, then this hotel will be a pleasant surprise as it is better than basic; the rooms and ensuites are a good size, with wardrobes, televisions etc. The breakfast is very generous. If you were looking for something very grand you will be disappointed, as although the place has apparently been refitted with modern materials, it seems to be a bit of a surface job and gives the vague impression that it was done after a trip to Ikea. Very close walking distance to the central station and less than ten minutes walk to Queen St station.

Ideally situated for the centre of Glasgow. Bedroom and bathroom maintained to a good standard. Would certainly use again However, in these days of ecological concern would suggest the hotel adopts the option of the guest requesting clean towels/bedding if staying more than one night rather than replacing daily

basic and practical. Needs redecorating and tidied. Lift needs improved. Showers were poor. A huge appreciation must go to all the staff. Helpful and always smiling. GREAT staff just a shame about the decor. i will be going to Glasgow again, but would not return to this hotel.

Hotel staff were very friendly and welcoming. Hotel was clean but a little dated. Could do with a lick of paint. Oh and one other thing - the taps work the opposite way of what you might think.
