The Alexander Inn is in a convenient location - a block from antique row, a couple of blocks from South Street, close to shops on Walnut and Chestnut. It was a nice walk to the historic district, waterfront, and the Italian Market. My room was charming, but not necessarily where one would want to spend a lot of time - television hung from the ceiling so I had to lie down to watch it and the sole chair wasn't terribly comfortable. However, the breakfast/lounge area is a great place to sit and read and the continental breakfast was quite nice. The staff was friendly and helpful.

If you want a hotel just a bit away from the hustle and bustle of the main streets, yet want to be within walking distance of everything and in a very safe neighborhood, try the Alexander Inn. For those who have traveled to Europe, you will recognize the European flair here, yet the rooms are larger! The morning continental breakfast a welcome addition at no additonal cost.

Exceptionally helpful and gracious hotel staff. Quiet room, gorgeous view, excellent quality mattress and pillows, great (free) breakfast, centrally located within walking distance of many restaurants and attractions.
