Vacation The Hotel was beautiful. Found the staff a little snooty. Was not able to get an iron in the room or a corkscrew. Very expensive to eat or drink there..

My family and I stayed at this hotel prior to our departure on a Mediterranean cruise. While our stay at this hotel was very pleasant prior to the cruise, our treatment when we returned for our last night in Rome was simply abominable. When we arrived back from the cruise ship, we were told that our reservations had been cancelled two weeks earlier by American Express Travel. The hotel was sold out and initially offered to move us to a comparable hotel in Rome, at the same rate. Then they indicated that they couldn't do that but would book us at the AIrport Hilton for the same rate. Then they couldn't do that - rate was 30 Euros more per room ( we had two rooms). When we finally contacted American Express, they had a confirmed reservation stil sitting in their system. Hotel claimed to them that we had cancelled. Almost two weeks has passed and the hotel and Leading Hotels of the World have yet to explain or apologize for their actions. We booked these rooms in May with an American Express Platimum card with full confiednce that we would have a room waiting for us. The treatment we received from the front desk was initially OK, but turned out to be anything but as they were clearly anxiously that we vacate their lobby. In my final encounter with the woman at the front desk - she was flippant, ashowed no empathy and was certainly not behaving the way you would expect from a hotel of this standing. I strongly recommend that you not stay here.

We stayed at Aldrovandi Palace in early May of this year ('07). The hotel is beautiful, though a little shabby, even though our room was in the "recently renovated" area of the hotel & we were told by hotel staff that the rooms were much nicer than those that had not been renovated. Not what we expected considering the rate, 5 star rating & the fact that it's one of The Leading Hotels of the World. We were also disappointed that the only breakfast offered was a huge buffet at 53 Euros per person & there was no other place close to get breakfast. But our biggest problem with the hotel was that the shower/bath was possibly the worst we've ever experienced. It had rust stains, the built-in mirror was damaged, the hand-held shower head was cracked & had mineral deposits so it sprayed water right at you, the overhead shower had mineral deposits & sprayed all over, &, on top of it all, the bathtub drain would not close. The worst ever! Also about the bathroom: when we first arrived there was one of those "Guaranteed Sanitized" banners across the toilet seat, but when it was removed there was pee on the toilet seat! Very funny. However, the neighborhood was upscale, beautiful & quiet which made its rather long distance from the sites well worth the taxi rides. The hotel's complimentary hourly shuttle to the Spanish Steps helped a lot & the hotel staff was extremely helpful & friendly. In spite of the lovely staff, I don't think we would stay there again.

I thought the hotel staff treated my boyfriend and I really well. I agree with another reviewer, the 30 dollar breakfast is a bit much. The chocolate crossaint is heavenly though. The website kind of lies. The outside does not look like a palace. The inside lobby does, and the area you eat breakfast does as well. The location is nice for couples. About a 10 cab ride away from Campo. There are buses that stop right in front of the hotel. There is also a free shuttle that takes you to the Spanish Steps.

When we got to the hotel our sheets were not clean and had to be changed. The concierge was not helpful and the transportation to the hotel was not convenient at all. We did not get breakfast included and they would have charged us 30 euro for it. We were not impressed. You can do better.

Surprisingly enough, breakfast was not included in the room rate. The hotel is lovely, elegant, professionally run. However, it is somewhat out of the way, an advantage in Rome if you want to get out of the chaos for a moment, but isolated with respect to transport into the city even though two trolley lines run in front of the hotel. We found a bottle of champagne, a bowl of fruit, and cookies to welcome us to the room...a very nice touch though we don't consume alcohol (would have preferred the included breakfast). However, the thought was appreciated.
