Built in the middle of the Sixteenth Century, Solar Monfalim belonged to a nobleman from the Royal House, D. Goncalo De Sousa. Later it was passed on to the Congominhos Family, one of the oldest in the city. The Monfalims, discendent's from Congominhos, lived in this manor house until the end of the Nineteenth Century. In 1892 Solar Monfalim received its first guest.
