I would not recommend anyone who needs a reliable room, especially late at night, goes to the Hotel Ajanta. My sister emailed and rang twice to reserve a room, and an airport pickup (she was arriving at 3am) and they assured her it was all confirmed. No-one at the airport when she arrived, and when she rang they told her they'd given her room to someone else who wanted to stay longer. She was then stranded in Delhi with nowhere to go in the middle of the night. So be warned!

Very clean and well turned out hotel. We enjoyed a nice, peaceful stay. We stayed for a week and shopped around, looked around. Had a nice time. The hotel would arrange a cab for us on request. The food was great too.

My wife and I stayed at hotel Ajanta last month. All the aspects of the hotel were really nice. The food and especially the service offered at the hotel were quite appreciable. The rooms were really clean and comfortable and the staff was really nice and friendly. It was our first visit to the hotel but it certainly won’t be the last.

I had stayed at hotel Ajanta several times and regard the hotel as one of the finest budget hotel of Central Delhi. Nicely appointed rooms, attentive services and staff, nice food in the inbuilt restaurant, in close proximity to important destinations of Delhi, these are features that make the hotel distinct in its category. Hi, this is Davis. Me and my friend, Jack stayed for four days at the hotel Ajanta. We found the hotel pretty nice. You will find all the basic facilities that a budget hotel should have. The rooms were clean and spacious, the services were quick. I think it’s hard to find a hotel with such facilities at such rates.

Good for budget hotel searchers. My room was clean and tidy. Even the service was quick and prompt, they didn't give us chance to make a little note. The restaurant was clean, the food they served was delicious. This hotel is value for money.

My husband and I have just spent 2 nights at hotel. It's not at all like the review & guide books say. The bathroom was filthy, the sheets were stained, there were men lurking on each floor. The staff were unhelpful and unfriendly. We asked for the bathroom to be cleaned as it was so filthy it obviously hadn't been cleaned in months, they didn't clean it. We won't be going back. They pressured to make tours from his unfaithful travel agent, I think for his commission. I don't recommend anyone to book these hotel if book cancel it.

This was my first visit to Delhi, and I have to say i was really horrified by this guesthouse. I'd already been traveling for 4 months and i don't think my standards are particularly high. It put the grubbiest of my student flats to shame! I arrived at about 3am, so was tired after a long flight and was picked up(arranged through guesthouse) in a small van which didn't start, we had to get pushed several times by strangers in the street! The room i got was tiny, like a prison cell. The white walls were covered in dirty grimy marks and dead insect stains.The bed was old and though i think the sheets were relatively clean, the place had a grimy dirty feel to it. The bathroom was disgusting, old, falling apart and felt dirty. I also had the nasty experience of someone waking me up at about 3am the next night knocking on my door. I said hello a few times but no one answered me and i could hear feet shuffling outside.I didn't open the door as im a lone female traveler but it made me very scarred. Thankfully i had bolted the door. Needless to say i left after one night.

The Ajanta is a comfortable hotel. My room was comfortable in general. There is some traffic noise, as noted by other reviewers, this is common in Delhi. One or two points of detail might have been improved, for instance the bathroom had a nice set of soaps and toiletries (this in the land of the Delhi belly!). There is a pretty good buffet for breakfast, the coffee arrive on time. The Ajanta Restaurant is pleasant, with nice food.

stayed at this hotel and really impressed with their inhouse service. it is very close to raiway station and city centre. free pick up from the airport is plus point if you are travelling first time in india. breakfast at the hotel was so delecious. really come back to stay here

The hotel is nice enough and the room we had was clean and comfortable. The location is good for the train station and sightseeing. But after persuading us to upgrade our room, which we did quite happily as it was a nice room, the staff lost all interested in us. We wanted to book train tickets for the next day and they were less than helpful, so much so we went to the train station and booked it ourself, even though the hotel staff told us that the reservations office was closed until the evening, it was not!!!!! One note to make is that the Lonelyplanet guide used to list the Ajanta, now they have dropped it. I would recommend the Grand Goodwin hotel which is next door, we stayed there when we returned to Delhi. The rooms are lovely and clean, the service is helpful and friendly, the rates are lower than the Ajanta and include breakfast, if you are leaving early in the morning they will pack you a breakfast to take with you, it is also listed in the Lonely Planet.

Very friendly atmosphere (we have stayed there before, last time 18 months ago, and many of the staff remembered us and seemed pleased to welcome us back). Rooms were small but quite adequate for our needs. Food in the restaurant (breakfast and evening meals) was good. We will use the Ajanta again on future visits to India.

I called up before going there about my pick up service, it was last minute booking but they have managed to send taxi at the airport. Really like the room big and spacious. Restaurant at the hotel provides good and delicious meal. Will be back there on my next trip.

This is a decent low budget hotel. The restaurant has an OK menu and hygene was fine. They can help you with tickets without (as far as I could understand) any commission.

This hotel was very good for a budget hotel in Delhi. It is in a very crowded and loud part of the city which was all part of the experience for us. The staff were very friendly as well. The roof top bar is basic but a has great views of the city and is a nice quite place to relax above the busy streets.

Very good restaurant attached to hotel. Neighbourhood is not in a good condition. Construction going on inside till late at night. Reservations desk tried to over-charge as they didn't know that taxes are already included in the Ratestogo online booking. We were shown 5 rooms, none of them suitable, and had to make do with 2 twin beds although I was staying with a child and specifically confirmed a double bed before arrival. Room service needed to be asked repeatedly to get things done. Overall, ok.
