lovely staffWas delighted with my room. It had a sitting room as well as a bedroom!Location is great, just a short stroll to the metro and only round the corner from that is the Botanical Gardens and the Reina Sophia. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Special thanks to Jose in the restaurant who made our stay even better with his friendly help with our attempts at speaking Spanish!

The hotel was nice and clean, and the rooms were spacious. The bathrooms were clean and also, very spacious. The hotel is located in a good part of the city. You can comfortably walk to Museum row, and all of the surrounding neighborhoods. Also, Azucar, a salsa nightclub, is next to the hotel.

No information in the room until asked for. The room felt gloomy - poor lighting - and a bit seedy. Staff pleasant though and the breakfast was excellent.

Room was hot. The air conditioning was noisy and did not seem effective. Opening the window was not really an option because of outside noise. However, room was comfortable and well equipped.

Agumar Hotel Madrid has all the caracteristics of good hotels . The rooms are quite clean and tidy , and it is an ideal hotel for those who prefer travelling by train sincce the railway station is very near , about five minutes walk . The prices are also reasonable compared to other similar hotels

We stayed for two nights but stay was limited to night stay because during the day we went sightseeing. It is very near to Atocha station and Prado museum and that is the biggest advantage. The receptionist (don't remember the name) was very helpful and spoke english very well. He explained us about various excursions and Madrid vision tour. Only thing they do not send your lagguage upto your room? (you have to carry yourself?). Overall, it is valur for money though I did not have opportunity to taste their food.

Can't really say one bad comment about the hotel. Great value for money!!! It was a bit out of the town but buses passed every five minutes.

Have stayed in Madrid many times before. This hotel is situated close to Atocha metro/train station, - just 3 stops away from the great nightlife of Calle Huertas and Plaza S Ana (last train 2AM), and four stops away from Puerta del Sol (Madrid's bustling centre) and the wonderful Hapsburg square of Plaza Mayor. The Retiro Park and Reina Sofia art gallery are just a short walk away, and a stroll along the pleasant Paseo del Prado to the Thyssen Bonemiza and Prado art galleries is not to be missed. The hotel itself is situated in a quiet residential area, away from the hustle and bustle of the Puerta del Sol where many other cheap hostels/hotels are situated. Be sure to ask for a room not overlooking the street though, as this can get quite noisy - Madrid, after all is a city that never sleeps!!! I found the hotel really clean: the bathroom was spotless and the linen changed daily. I can't comment on the food because we chose not to have breakfast there - found it quite expensive, but there are plenty of little neighbourhood coffee bars serving good coffee, toast, pastries etc. Otherwise the train station (not to be missed - check out the indoor tropical jungle setting) is just accross the road and has lots to offer. You don't need to eat in the hotel - Madrid has over 18,000 tapas bars and restaurants for all different tastes and pockets. There are some comments here that the staff where unfriendly/unhelpful - we didn't really interact much with the reception staff except to check-in/out. They seemed friendly enough and certainly very quick - there was no hanging about at all. Can't fault the place really, and would recommend it without hesitation.

Very unfriendly service (common for Spanish hotels I have stayed in - apart from the fabulous value Torre Catalunya in Barcelona), shabby appearance - could do with revovation. The room is very large, but has 3 single beds (I'm travelling alone) and is very dark (no outward facing windows). Poorly equipped, though the bathroom is pretty good. Certainly would not advise staying here unless on fly-by business. You would not have a romantic time in this hotel!

Great value for the money paid! It seems they really know how to run an hotel efficiently. Great for the business budget traveler that does not expect thrills, however, expects excelent service, nicely decorated super clean rooms, and best of all, a great price!

We should have stayed a little closer to the centre as we only had three days to explore. However, the taxi and bus service is very resonable. The desk staff gave excellent advice and made us feel welcome.

Food was expensive so we dined in another hotel. Biggest disappointment was being told on arrival at 20.30 that our booking had been cancelled at 19.00. When we explained that we had just come from the airport, we were told that we should have telephoned to say we would arrive late! We produced a printout of our booking, in which there was no reference to having to arrive or phone before a certain time. Then we were told that the Agumar hotel was full and we would be sent to another hotel for one or two nights. We refused to accept the offer as we felt we would be charged by both hotels. Then, after some consultation among the staff, we were told that we could stay in the Agumar. We were given a suite which was facing onto a busy street and therefore noisy - early traffic from 06.00 and police cars with sirens blaring at night. The room was cold at night.

Both myself and my boyfriend were very happy with the hotel, the staff were friendly and helpful and the whole place was immaculately kept. I asked for a room with a double bed as opposed to the more availiable twin room and we were given a double room in the smoking area of the hotel. This however, was no problem, you would not have known the room was a smoking room if had not been for a small ash tray. The room service breakfast is highly recommended and very easy to order The hotel is not in the centre of Madrid, however there is a metro station very close by which is extremely easy to use and very resonable. We were very happy with our whole visit.
