The hotel staff was WONDERFUL- the concierge, bellhops, etc were MORE than helpful... but the reason we know this is because we had to switch rooms, not once- but twice because of the lack of cleanliness. There was an abundance of mold and mildew in the shower, someone else's hair in the tub, and the dust in the room (around the base of the walls, on the light fixtures, etc. was absolutely unacceptable for this kind of hotel). Accessibility to transportation and local sites is great, however. I can't complain about the noise, it's NYC for God sake, but it was noisy...

Such a great experience. Amazing service, perfect amenities, spotless clean. Just unbelievable.

Location. Bathroom and room need renovation. Television received poor reception. Need flat screen. Hotel room too small. Bathroom was size of closet and needed renovation. Too noisy. Could hear street and hotel noise. Poor view.

The Affinia Manhattan is a great place to stay while visiting NYC. Right near Madison Square Garden which was what I wanted when booking my stay. The room was clean, the bed and pillows like a cloud, the kitchenette was handy and my request for more towels was answered promptly. The bathroom was a little on the small side but sparkling clean. I would stay here again on my next outing to NYC. Thank you to the staff who were friendly and helpful.

This was my first time at this hotel...It will NOT be my last. Just a great place. I tried it, as I found a terrific deal on Orbitz. The room was very large by NYC standards, and even had a full kitchen! The bathroom was small, but very nice and they provided Aveda toiletries, always a plus for me. Very comfortable bed. And the location was great. A wonderful deli is right next door with an amazing salad bar, you are 4 blocks from Whole Foods and also a local organic market, there was a great burger place just a block or so away, and also a CVS within a couple of blocks. I highly recommend it.

We stayed at the Affinia Manhattan for my husbands first trip to NY. The hotel was conveniently located directly across the street from Madison Square Garden and approximately a block away from Penn Station. There was easy subway access within 2 blocks of the hotel. Our room was clean and large (especially for NYC). It had a small kitchenette with a full sized fridge and microwave. There was a table and chairs located in the main room as well. The bathroom was small but clean. The tub/shower could use some updating but the water pressure was good. The room also had excellent closet space (3 total). The hotel offers a pillow menu as well. We tried the hypoallergenic, swedish memory foam, and this magnetic pillow. Aside from the swedish memory foam which I don't recommend, the rest of the pillows seemed rather similar. The service at the hotel was good. They were able to call down to the garage below the building and have our car pulled up front for our departure. Beware that it is rather pricey to park, but this is New York after all. Overall, I would highly recommend the Affinia for the price that I paid ($125/night).

Location, kitchenette and elevator doors. The toilet was right next to the head of the bed. This hotel was a good value and in a fantastic location. The room we had was a nice size and I appreciated having a kitchenette. However, the head of the bed is positioned right next to the toilet. The hotel staff should rearrange the room and move the bed away from the toilet.

For the price, a great value. Staff was friendly, helpful, room was large and clean, and midtown location was ideal.

The Staff was friendly and efficient but the room needed help. The window shades would not come down, the bathroom was very small and one had to keep calling and requesting coffee, sugar, a dish towel and other things for the kitchen.

It was a very convenient location. The room on the 8 th floor was very noisy. This hotel is very convenient to everywhere in NY. Right across Penn Station, 20 Mins to downtown, 20 Mins to Columbia, 10 min walk to Times Square, 10 Mins walk to the Empire state building. The staff is very friendly, the rooms very large by NY standards and comfortable. The only bad thing was the NY noise. The windows are old and don't keep the noise out, so it was a little hard to sleep.

When we booked this hotel, we thought it would be like many of the others we have stayed in NYC. But this is a wonderful place to stay...right in the heart of things. Madison Square Garden is across the street with access to the subway. The Empire State Bldg is within short walking distance...Macy's is down the street. The staff is extremely helpful and nice. The restaurant is not too pricey. The rooms are spacious...our room had 2 baths, a living area, bedroom and kitchenette. A perfect place to stay in NYC. And the prices were great. It was clean, spacious and a hotel I will stay in again.

The hotel was pretty much true to its description. The only thing that bothererd me was the smells in the hallway and the carpet. The outside of the hotel looked really nice but when we actually got inside it smelled like old milk and the carpets were very old in the hallways. I also did not like the business center located at the hotel as it was run by a separate company so the hotel attendants could not help me when I encountered a problem with my money at a computer terminal which resulted in a loss of money to me.

This Manhattan hotel is a real gem. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel location is prime being diagonal across street from Penn Station. Felt very safe and secure. Had to show guard hotel key after 10 PM to use hotel elevators. Taxi hailing very easy from front door of hotel. Took only 1 night to get used to the moderate street noise. Fire station is right down the street. Double bed suite is quite roomy with table, chairs, kitchen (stove, micro, fridge, a few dishes/silverware/glasses). The bathroom is very small; about enough room to turn around once. Our room was very clean, bed comfy. Cleaning staff very attentive to request for additional towels, new light bulb for lamp, etc. Lots of dining/shopping options close. Will definately stay again if the need arises. Can honestly recommend this hotel to anyone, including families with kids.

I stayed at the Affinia for a two day business trip. I'd definitely go back (if I got the same rate). Good size room. Nice workspace. Good location. Clean, but dated. It was a little noisy and a bit dark, but hey, it's NY. tip: be patient. The front desk takes 2 minutes to pick up the phone.

The linens were very nice. No coffee in the room; saw a large roach the night before checkout. Upon initial review, I was certainly impressed with the size of the room. The size exceeded my expectations. However, the Affinia Manhattan's website made me expect other things, such as a work out basket, for example due to the hotel lacking a workout facility. The front desk informed me that that was at an additional cost. The website did not inform me of that, albeit it may be true. Speaking of workout facility, I was disappointed that this hotel was not equipped with such an amenity. However, that is an important feature I expected from a 3-star hotel that was missing. The room was equipped with a coffee maker but I had to go to the front desk to get coffee.

This was my first time in New York and during Christmas too. The hotel was great. I booked a suite that included a queen size bed but instead I got a room with a king size bed. Which was excellent. The bathroom was a bit small. The kitchen came in handy. There was hardly any noise except the occasional firetrucks. It was just a short walk to Times Square, enough time for you to enjoy the lights if you're a first time visitor to the big city. There's also lots of little resturants around the area. Starbucks is just across the street and a Dunkin Donuts next door. I highly recommend this to any traveler with a budget. The staff is really nice. I checked in three hours early and that wasn't a problem. Checkout was really fast. I would stay at this hotel again next time I'm in New York.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. This is not a new hotel, but the rooms are comfortable and large. We had two queen beds, two full baths, two televisions, a kitchenette, and a pull-out couch. NYC is noisy, but staying here was quieter than the Times Square area. We never felt a bit threatened, even when walking at night.
