The hotel was very well placed, across from a main subway station, for getting uptown, downtown, or indeed anywhere in New York. The staff was helpful, courteous, and respectful, from the front desk to the evening security staff. Apart from the church bells at 7.00am every morning, the hotel was quiet with very little traffic noise reaching the 9th floor, where we were. The furniture in our room was perhaps a little past its sell-by, but that is the only criticism I can come up with.

It was fine other than the check in process and street noise. It took over 45 minutes from when we got in line to be checked in - took over 30 minutes just for them to get us a room.

Excellent location across the street from Penn Station and Madison Square Garden. Mid-Manhattan so very centrally located. Rooms are suites so nice to have frig and microwave. Bathrooms are a bit small but the room was nice sized. Six different kinds of pillows to choose from. Staff was very helpful. It was our first trip to NYC and the hotel staff helped us with details and suggestions over and over again. Great choice for our family!

Other than my room having a chemical smell, the hotel was a good experience. The location was excellent, rooms were clean and the front-desk staff was friendly and efficient.

I expected a small space from all that I have heard about NYC hotels. But here there was plenty of space for my family with an approximately 8 x 14 foot open space between the foot of the beds and the six foot built in desk and huge mirror lining the opposite wall. There's a small kitchen space in the entrance (yea, a refridgerator) and wide bathroom. Very clean beds. The location is South of Macy's (a couple blocks) and Times Square (10? blocks directly North but walkable). Also, the Empire is with in walking distance to the NE. Employees were helpful and friendly. This was a great experience.

The decor was dated and quite ordinary, and my 7th floor room was way too noisy. Gym is barely adequate. The desk chair was pathetic--looked like it belonged in the ballroom...in the 60s. No recline or wheels, just a regular dinner chair. Internet was slow. Room was huge and clean. Kitchenette was a nice plus. TV had plenty of free channels

I liked this hotel's location and although the hotel is older the rooms were clean and well kept. The staff is very friendly and the concierge helped us get tickets to a Broadway show, dinner reservations, and provided subway information. If you're looking for a hotel that's good for kids and located in the middle of it all I recommend the Affinia.

The location of the Affinia couldn't be better. The access for public transportation is wonderful. Our stay started off too rocky. The front desk manager was very abrupt, not helpful, & overall had a poor attitude. The other front desk employees that we communicated with were the complete opposite & worked with us very well. For two of our four days stay our rooms were not cleaned. We had to call housekeeping for them to bring in fresh towels, etc. Overall, our stay was pleasant but I am not sure if I will stay at the Affinia again.

I had a great stay here. My family and I stayed in a studio suit. It was very clean. It came with a kitchenette, which was nice when we took home leftovers and heated them up in the microwave. The bathroom was nice, but there was very little counter space. The beds were very comfortable. The hotel is in a great location. It is right by madison square garden and penn station. You just have to walk about 10 blocks to get to times square. I would stay again. :D
