Description:
The Adolphus is downtown Dallas' only MOBIL 4-STAR rated Hotel. Free Wireless Highspeed Internet. Fortune, flamboyance and fame came together in 1912 to produce the grande dame of Dallas hotels. The founder of The Adolphus, Missouri beer baron Adolphus Busch, chose to honor his adopted city with 21 stories of unabashed baroque splendor. Critics have called this Texas landmark the most beautiful building west of Venice. Today flaunting its historic finery, The Adolphus shines with 80 million USD worth of renovations and enhancements, including the reception area, elevators, function rooms, The French Room and all public areas. The Adolphus holds virtually every architectural and interior design as well as hospitality award in the hotel industry. Conde Nast Travelers Readers Choice Award proclaimed it one of the top ten hotels in the United States. This is an honor consistently supported by the Zagat Surveys also Fodors and Frommers and other travel authorities. The award winning French Room serves classic French cuisine adapted to contemporary American tastes in a setting that The New York Times describes as 'a Louis X V fantasy on the prairie...indisputably the most striking and scumptuous restaurant in Dallas.'

I rave about this hotel. Staff was welcoming at all times, room and housekeeping were attentive, and the oldest Dallas hotel is perfect

Clean, comfortable, great price. We feel like we got a great deal for a very nice hotel. The concierge was helpful with finding a restaurant nearby.

I was not impressed by this place. Reading all the reviews it seemed as though everyone loved this place and raved about it. I ran into several issues that would not be the end of the world in most places but this place screams 5 star service, quality, ambiance from the rooftops so when they underdeliver it's very disappointing and they should suffer the consequences of not living up to their claims. The comforter in my room was stained. I had an awful view of a brick wall from my room. My wakeup call was about 10 minutes late. The much ballyhooed French Room was closed for two weeks for renovations/cleaning--nothing was posted about that prior to my trip and was planning on having a business dinner there. I tried to eat dinner at the Rodeo bar which is one of their restaurants--after sending back one dish for still being frozen and the next order taking nearly 30 minutes and made completely wrong I actually left without eating. At checkout when the lady at the desk asked me how my stay was and I said "Disappointing" she simply said "I'm sorry"--she showed no concern or care and didn't even want to know why it was disappointing--why even ask the question if you don't care about the answer--CERTAINLY NOT 5 STAR SERVICE. It was adequate and I got a great deal on the room so it's not the end of the world but it certainly wasn't a great experience and if I had paid top dollar I would've left very angry.

We booked a King room 2 weeks ahead of our stay. We were never informed that rooms are doled out on a first come first serve basis (otherwise we could have checked in earlier). We arrived at the hotel at 6pm on 12/31/07. We were told they were completely out of King rooms. My husband is 6'2" and is not comfortable on a small full size bed (which is what we got). We were further disappointed with the quality of the room. All the furnishings and fixtures were old and dingy. We were told check-out would be at 1pm the next day. However, we were awakened to housekeeping knocking on our door at 9am (keep in mind we had been out very late for New Year's Eve). Then at 10am we heard housekeeping trying to come into the room. Luckily we had the bolt locked. And once again at 11am as we were getting ready to leave, housekeeping came knocking again. We have travelled alot and never specificaly reserved a King room that we didn't get a King room, nor have we ever had housekeeping knocking on our door prior to check-out. We will not be staying at this hotel again nor would we recommend it to anyone.

I really enjoyed the overall experience of the Adolphus. Be sure to expect to pay about $20 a night for parking in their garage because of Valet. There is no pool, but the rooms were very nice. Right downtown and had a great antique/historic feel. Unfortunately our first room leaked which was a two queen bed room. Our "upgrade" when we were moved was to a two queen bed "Suite", which was the same as our last room only smaller... not sure what they meant by an upgrade. Great place to stay for a weekend getaway though. Recommended.

We had a wonderful experience overall. The hotel is beautiful and elegant. The staff was very helpful and friendly. It was the perfect location for touring downtown. We could walk to the Dart rail system and get to anywhere we wanted to go downtown. We had dinner at the Bistro, great food (try the Pizza!) The price on this location was so resonable and worth every penny. We will be going back for a romantic weekend.

It was a great restful place. I loved the furnishings but wasn't too crazy about the fact that my coffee cups were dirty. Made me a little uneasy.

I found the Adolphus staff to be courteous and very helpful. Any question, they were ready to answer. The car provided by the hotel was very convenient and the staff member who handled this was very accommodating. All the conceirges were very friendly and helped me with all my questions. I ate at the Bistro and the staff there was again very helpful and accommodating. The food was excellent. The wakeup calls were on time. I had to leave at 4:30 A.M. and the front desk saff were very pleasant and helpful at this early hour. My stay at the Adolphus was a very pleasant experience.

This is a great place to stay. Staff very friendly and hotel located downtown. We attended our son's graduation at UT Southwestern and was looking for a place downtown. Really enjoyed the stay and would recommend this hotel to friends.

The staff was very nice. $24.00 parking was pretty bad. The hotel was nice and older hotel. Very charming and has a lot of character. The staff was very friendly & helpful. Room service food was delightful. I thought that $24.00 parking was really high and with no other choice.

My stay was a great time. Everyone was very helpful and the history of the hotel was something I found very interesting. My favorite place was the Rodeo Bar Down stairs. Such a great atmosphere, you can get comfortable even in such a fancy hotel. The service there was fantastic and the Bar Tender was the best!! thanks to all of you!

You will not believe that you are just steps away from the best cultural attractions in Dallas as you settle into the comfortable splendor of your room. The Adolphus has been a favorite of mine for years, and the staff remains among the most helpful in Texas. If you want elegant dining, stay inside and go to the French Room, and/or celebrate a special occasion with afternoon "High Tea" for under $50. But if you want moderate and varietal food, take a short walk and enjoy an outdoor cafe.
