This was our first stay in Greece, and although I understand the complaints about the lack of aesthetics on the particular street in which the hotel was located, we could overlook that as the price was right. We had to book two rooms per night for our family of four, so price was an important consideration as was close proximity to a metro station (which we took pretty much everywhere) and to local drugstores and cafes. These were all positives. The included breakfast was decent (nothing special, but suited our needs - better than a continental breakfast) and a convenient way to start the morning before each day's adventures. The issues we would comment on are 1) the very moldy/musty smell of the rooms (I don't know how they could fix that short of tearing down and redoing all the carpets and drywall) which made it difficult for us to be in the room at times, and 2) the black mold on much of the sealants around the tub and shower stall. The sealants need either a good in-depth scrubbing with bleach, or maybe recaulking, as it appears to be the result of years of use. The hotel's website claims newly renovated rooms, so I'm not sure what this is about. Unfortunately, while the problem may be minor and easy to fix, it left us feeling like we were in a filthy environment (even though, to be fair, the rest of the bathroom and room was clean) and it made for a very unpleasant experience to shower as a result. We would recommend this hotel to a friend except for the moldy smell and bathroom issues. However, keep in mind that there may very well be rooms that do not have these problems. I can't know this as I can only comment on the two rooms we experienced. I'd like to add that there was a young, thin, blonde young woman (unfortunately, we didn't get her name) who we observed constantly and fervently cleaning throughout our days there. (We observed her cleaning the lobby, hallways, and outside front area of the hotel. We don't know if she is assigned to clean the actual r

Breakfast plentiful but not great quality. Room very comfortable. Bathroom tiny & ready for a refurb. but clean & good water supply. Service exceptional, even provided drugs for upset stomach without charge. Free room safe. Location perfect to explore the centre on foot & felt safe at night. No complaints & would use again

The hotel's proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka and the centre of Athens makes it an excellent location. The hotel is literally within a 2 minute walk of the entrance to the Acropolis! The rooms were okay but the breakfast was wonderful. The modern and eclectic lobby is nicely furnished and the adjoining bar was a nice place to have a drink. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone!

From what I saw in regards to the area's surrounding other hotels & price, this one is by far the best. I just got to look around downtown Athens on a Sunday, but streets were crowded with people selling "junk". I would not feel safe after dusk if I were at the downtown hotels. Acropolis I felt very safe & is within a short distance from Metro (don't worry, it is easy to figure to us bus & metro with the help of the friendly Greeks. Also, MUCH cheaper than taxi. A couple of blocks to Temple of Zeus & Acropolis. The Acropolis Select was clean, the staff VERY helpful, and the breakfast buffet each morning was GREAT. I was at a 4 star that didn't have near the selection of foods as the Acropolis. The Staff even went as far as to call a travel agency for me while I was out touring to verify my arrangements for the next tour.

Good value for the money. Better than most 3 Star hotels in Athens.

The rooms are clean but quite old, especially the bathroom. The rooms are very noisy, from your window you will see very bussy street. For a quiet room you have to pay extra. The hotel has a perfect location, 10 minutes walk to Acropolis. Metro station just few steps from the hotel.

Good location to subway. Rooms were small and no place to unpack. Elevator was out three (3) days and we had to climb up and down a tight staircase.

This hotel is tucked away, but in a great location for walking to all of the popular sites & b/t 2 metro stops. The hotel costs 80¬ per night if you book it there, so Orbitz is the way to go. The staff was very friendly. The carpet seemed in need of replacing. The internet is expensive to access in the lobby, but you can find an internet cafe several blocks away. If you want to cruise the islands, book in advance b/c the short cruises fill quickly. Eat @ the tasty local restaurants to save money.

This hotel suited us as it was near the Plaka (old town) and the main square at a reasonable price.

Good value. Clean hotel with a very helpful concierge. It was an excellent location with the old part of town just down the street with plenty of stores and restaurants. We were close to the Acropolis. It made our stay in Athens quite lovely.

Good location, and nice and clean hotel. It's about 2 mins walk from Syngrou-Fix station (which is 1 station away from Acropolis). Walk to Acropolis & Plaka area is about 10-15mins. Breakfast was great, lotsa different choices from cold to hot. Staff are friendly, but receptionist didnt know anything about the city. All he said was to help ourselves with brochures from the stand. When asked about tours or any tourist info, he apologised and said he didnt know. Overall it's a good place to stay, and would recommend it.

The Acropolis Select hotel staff was very nice and very knowledgable and accomadating to me and my friend. We arrived very late and the check in was very simple. Only complaint was that the business center was just a desk and two computers with an internet service that was VERY slow. Make sure the internet is working before you pay for an access code. The room was pretty basic--good for the price per night. The bathrooms were also very basic. Close to subway/metro stops was good, and the area was relatively quiet--no traffic or anything. The breakfast buffet was AMAZING and well maintained. I would definitely stay here again.

It's a good hotel, very clean and with excellent service. It has a very central location in easy walking distance of most of Athens tourist attractions. The view from the windows will not win any prizes unless you like other buildings of course. But for the price you can't really beat it. The Hot Breakfast was excellent.

Overall the hotel was a great value for the money. The room was clean and comfortable. The location was very convenient and easy to find. There was a subway station just a few steps away, making it very easy to get around the city, or to the airport or the cruise port. The hotel staff was friendly and efficient. The breakfast was tasty and had a nice variety. At night we always felt safe walking around. There's even a few restaurants in the area that were open for late night meals. It's not a fancy hotel by any means, but it was CLEAN and a great value for the money. I would definitely recommend this hotel!!!

Stayed in Athens for a couple of days in May in this hotel and it has lived up to my expectation! Staffs at the reception are friendly and helpful; they even sell stamps so you don't have to make a trip to post office to send off your postcards overseas. The hot buffet breakfast served in the hotel is also good, with enough variety to fit everyone's taste. Location wise, the hotel is only a 10-15 min walk to the famous tourist attraction Acropolis, perfect for those who want to visit it early in the morning to avoid the long queue and the blazing sun! The only disappointment I have is the in-house Internet/Wi-Fi service which is rather expensive at over 5 Euro/hr (computers are available at the lobby for those who didn't bring their own computer). Fortunately, there are internet cafes nearby and only charge half that. Overall, I am satisfied with this hotel, happy to stay again and would certainly recommend it to friends.

This hotel was very clean, and my room (509) was in the front and I had no problem with the noise that I read about. If you shut the balcony door you do not hear anything. I did not hear people next door breaking wind or talking etc. The room looks much better in person. It was close to public transportation as mentioned by other guests. It wasn't a far walk to main attractions, and there were places to eat and shop nearby.

I've stayed at the Acropolis Select several times over the last few years and have rarely been disappointed. Just two blocks from metro stop Syngrou/Fix, it is about a 5-10 minute walk to the Acropolis and Plaka. The front desk people are always very nice and pleasant, even when I check in after midnight. The hot breakfast is huge and delicious.
