A couple of bikers on tour in Devon.We enjoyed our stay at Acorn Lodge. The proprietors are a pleasant couple who made us very welcome. We were very happy with the parking arrangements, which allowed us to get our bike off the street, and out of view. The only issues that we had with the accommodation were that breakfast started too late,at 0830,and that there was seldom any hot water. The water was feezing when we arrived after a 400 mile ride,and was the same the following morning. we did discover the pattern to getting some hot water though. It was hot at 0800 and at about 1700. So if a shower was required that was the time to get one. Hand washing at other times was a problem. A shame really,as the hotel has the potential to be very good. I would stay there again.

Torquay June 2009We booked this guest house very last minute and the owners, Sarah and Clifton were very welcoming, this hotel was such good value for money and the food was second to none! we will definately be going back................soon!

Nice and friendly made us feel very welcomeStayed only one night as we were moving onward to another destination, the room we were in was pleasant though a bit small, though was very clean and modern it did however suffer from a noisy shower (whining noise) The other room we had had creaky floor boards and as we arrived late didn't want to disturb the other guests, apart from those issues it was a nice stay.The hotel itself was kept to a very high standard, with nice little touches.The staff were friendly and welcoming, breakfast was a welcome sight in the morning and was very nice!! Overall we would def stay again and would recommend the hotel to other guests

Made to feel at home by a very friendly couple. Apparently they've just completed the refurbishment. The room was clean and comfortable, the full English breakfast was a good set-up for the day - overall, exceptional value.

an excellent privately run b&b / hotel. There were 3 adults in our party and the accomodation was excellent for what we needed. a double and 2 single beds in a very tidy and well maintained room with en suite shower and wc.Greeted by the very friendly and helpful owner on arrival. great customer service, a very good breakfast in the morning and would definately use again.A very pleasant stay run by kind and friendly people. have no hesitation in recommending to anyone

We stayed from the 17th to the 24th of November 2007 and didn't want to leave! Clifton and Sarah are the two nicest people you could ever hope to meet, friendly but not intrusive, and very helpful as well.The breakfasts were wonderful, the shower was very nice and the room was warm. In fact, the only bad thing about the hotel was that the street it's in could occasionally get a little noisy at night - which is hardly the fault of the hotel.Clifton and Sarah really made us feel welcome, and were only too happy to provide anything we might need. We cannot recommend them highly enough - and given that the room was chosen because it was the cheapest, the fact the service was so fantastic was an added bonus.Will definitely book with them again.

Good value for money. Rooms ensuite, with double bed, TV and DVD, WIFI 24 hours in all the hotel. Delicious English breakfast with mushrooms. Only 15-20 minutes walking from the Torquay train station. Staff very friendly and helpful.

was not impressed with hotel, average breakfast, vegetarian option was on menu, but when asked they didn't have a vegetarian sausage. noisey at night. Was offered a 'suite' but was just one large room partitioned into two rooms, with not doors in between, no furniture in small single room, mattreses were hard and one you could feel the springs. Will not be back.Management Response\r\nThe suite room was offered to the ladies after they e-mailed us after making a reservation for 2 singles to let us know they would be bringing 2 dogs with one large grey hound and one smaller dog. This room was therefore more appropriate as it had more space for the dogs. The side table and 1 single bed was removed from one section of the room to accommodate 2 dog beds, 2 dogs and feeding equipment which we thought would have been more then welcomed. Had any of these issues been raised with us whilst in our residence then we would have been more than happy to assist.

Room was very clean and comfortable, great value for money - my fault I didn't sample the breakfasts as I was out far too early each morning. Easy parking close by and access to the hotel, so definitely family friendly. Will stay again when working in Torbay.
