The Abel Tasman Lodge offers panoramic Sea Views across the Bay of Islands and is ideally located in a prime location on Paihia's exclusive waterfront in the true heart of the Bay of Islands. Abel Tasman Lodge is uniquely nestled against a bush clad reserve (The Bluff) on one side, with Paihia's Wharf and Central Township (Williams Rd) just a short 1-2 minute stroll along the waterfront to the right and The Bay of Iskands stretches out in front of the motel.
The Abel Tasman Lodge, with it's choice of accommodation, makes an ideal location where you can base yourself in comfort and convenience and explore the many delights of the Bay of Islands and Northland. Or, if you prefer, just relax, enjoy the panoramic sea views and watch the world go by.

Paihia, Bay of Islands is approximately 240 klm north of Auckland.
You have three choices of travel as follows:
By road
Paihia, Bay of Islands, is only three and a quarter hours drive from the Auckland Harbour Bridge via State Highway One (East Coast).
By coach / bus
Northliner Express or Intercity Coachlines operate daily express coach services from Auckland central to Paihia, Bay of Islands. Paihia's Bus Depot is conveniently located at Paihia's Wharf. It is a short 1-3 minute level walk to the Abel Tasman Lodge or, if you prefer, we would be very happy to arrange a free pick up from the Bus Depot.
By air
Air New Zealand Link operates daily flights from Auckland International Airport to Kerikeri (Bay of Islands) Airport which is located 25 klm from Paihia. The flight time is 40 minutes. A shuttle service meets every incoming flight at Kerikeri and will bring you to the Abel Tasman Lodge.

Each unit and apartment has a designated off street parking bay.

A short 1-2 minute stroll (100 metres) from the Abel Tasman Lodge, along Paihia's picturesque waterfront, will take you to Paihia's main wharf where all of the Bay of Islands fishing charters and Island cruises depart daily.
Paihia is the entertainment hub of the North of New Zealand. There is justt about every activity you can think of here, from sky diving to deep sea diving on famous wrecks, to every concievable type of fishing, parascending, cruising, quad biking, horse trekking, walks and scenic tours, it is all here.

Paihia's central township (Williams Rd) where you can meander through the many craft and souvenir shops, and then take a leisurely break at one of the many local cafe/bars and restaurants, is just a short stroll away.
Paihia also offers a full range of supporting services, including banks, medical and dental facilities.

You can relax and swim at the beach across the road from the Lodge while you keep an eye out for the dolphins that are sometimes seen offshore playing in the Bay. For a change of scene, you can take a leisurely 1-2 minute stroll around The Bluff to the left and you will discover that there is another wonderful large beach for you to enjoy. If you have children, there is a large children's playground located on the grassed beach reserve. This beach is also ideal for swimming and relaxing while you enjoy the scenic beauty of the Bay of Islands. For the more active and adventurous, at this location during the summer months, you can usually hire a Jet Ski or a Kayak so that you can get out on the water and enjoy!
