BrilliantThe man was very nice, room was value for money not quite 10mins walk 2 town but bout 10mins drive. Enjoyed my stay.

Nice little B&BPleasant and friendly staff - very much has the feel of a family-run business. The room was clean and tidy and nice - although a bit warm, with no relief from fan or air con; also there was no hot water for the showers - so they were... invigorating ;-) Fifteen minutes walk to the town centre, so quite close, though walking through an area that would not necessarily be considered the most savoury part of town - still, had very little trouble and would definitely go back again.

Low rating of room is because both beds had REALLY saggy old matresses and were incredibly uncomfortable. Low rating on food is because breakfast was a bit dry and burnt and the evening supper curry was one of the wost i've ever eaten. But for a one night stay its fine..and the area is not at all dangerous but a nice residential area.

FineI didn't expect too much but I had a very comfortable stay. Clean spacious room for one person. Quiet with a strong shower. Just what you need. 15 min walk into Reading so no problem with location. Would go again.

YUK!!!!!!this hotel, if u can call it that, was the most un-hygenic and unpleasent night i have ever experienced! We were put in a room with sick staines on the floor and over powering smell of damp and with a bathroom the size of an airing cupboard. We asked to move rooms and were then taken to an even worse room. Considering it was cheap, it was ok just for one night, but when you go to a hotel you expect to atleast have clean bedsheets. Not impressed!

Abbey House, ReadingVery good value for money; convenient location. Though the room was small, everything worked, was clean and absolutely fine. The weekend "Continental" breakfast was more than adequate.

Clean, tidy and friendly, but very thin walls

One or two of the staff tried to make me feel welcome. I get the impression that, maybe like all hotels and service industries, they work very hard and are quite tired a lot of the time.It was a depressing area of Reading. There was hardly any street lighting down the side roads to the hotel. I found it quite difficult getting a bus back into the centre of town.I'm not sure if they had a qualified cook, but I could hear the microwave ping, just before I got my evening meal. I'm not usually fussy, but the meal was quite off-putting.

Spotless clean, a bit old fashioned

A good, low budget hotel but was suprised how dated the room was - it really needs updating - mould around the bathroom and lighting not very good. However, if looking just looking for somewhere to rest your head ..you definately are getting what you pay for.Was a little gutted as breakfast was included in the overall price but was only told when sat at table that as it was a bank hol - no cooked breakfast otherwise we would have chosen an alternative hotel.

The room was extreamley cold even with heaters on and no curtins only blinds which made the room very cold, we therefore did not have a good nights sleep. Bed sheets were ripped.Would not stay there again and definatly not a 4* hotel as advertised.

Very Basic. Hotel a fair way from the Town Centre. Situated in a very deprived area of Reading. Breakfast staff quite rude and do not speak very good English.

The room was really small. Breakfast was nothing special. The shower was completely freezing. And the staff were totally undfriendly and unwelcoming. The person serving breakfast didn't speak to me! She didn't smile! I will never go to this hotel again. We like to support independent hotels but this has completely put me off doing that!

I found what I was looking for- somewhere to rest & relax away from my work. The room felt spacious & comfortable & WIFI worked well

A quiet clean and very presentable hotel. Excellent value for money if all you need is bed and breakfast.

Nice staff, clean rooms and well located. Would stay here again, no complaints at all..

The hotel was great value for money and the staff were professional and polite. I've have stayed in a few other B&Bs around this area which were only marginally cheaper but alot less amenable. It waswell worth a few extra pounds although it was still very reasonable.
