decent budget hotel. close to the main train station and easy to find/park if driving . Confortable, clean and cheap.

Close to the Cenral Station, the young staff is friendly and the room is not too tiny. But that's it: this hotel is basically a youth hostel. My key failed repeatedly, internet was out of order, the lift took ages, breakfast is basic, and the owners clearly did not intend to spend one buck too much on furniture. And there is a really frightening road to cross to reach the place. So, it's ok for a short stay in modest conditions, but the pricing should reflect that -- it's just too expensive now.

Hamburg trip to watch Manchester City v HamburgI stayed at this hotel with my seven year old son to attend the football. It was cheap, clean and convenient for central station. It was a value for money no frills place to stay. I paid 44 euro's for the room with breakfast extra 6 euro's, my son was free. Hotel seemed secure and we had no trouble with noise, even though our room faced the train lines and a busy road. If we ever play hamburg again, I would use this place again.

Being in Hamburg when a major conference is on typically means that the cost of hotel rooms goes up and availability of rooms is poor. This situation forced me away from my usual hotel choices and I had to find an alternative. I was recommended the A&O by a Customer who told me some of his staff had stayed there in the past.The Hotel is a Hotel / Hostel so is quite basic. The hotel rooms do have private facilities, and whilst simple are very clean.The common areas feel very 'studenty' and battered. I arrived at the same time a several coaches of noisy students who blocked passages and stairwells. I feared it was going to be very noisy overnight, but there wasn't a problem.The Hotel is situated out of the centre, and I didn't find any restuarants in the immediate vicinicy, however a 10 minute walk took me into a part of town with plenty of varied shopping and eating places.Breakfast was a scrum. Whilst the food was okay, but the whole eating area was like a student refectory, and it was noisy and difficult to find a place to sit.In summary, relatively cheap, clean and functional, but all the implications of the term Hostel are evident!

We were suprised on arrival to find that this was a hostel not a hotel. This was not made clear to us when we were booking. However the accomodation was clean and comfortable.Being a hostel however it was extremely noisy, especially on the Friday night. This was largely due to one particular group of guests who, despite the best efforts of the staff, refused to leave the courtyard area.

hotel is about 15 mins walk from main train station. the breakfast was excellent (and incl in price). only stayed one night in Hamburg but would stay in one of these hotels again in another german city. uk travelodge standard-clean comfortable rooms at a good price.
