Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Canal, built in 1805, carries canal boats for trips from Llangollen wharf up the Vale of Llangollen. Known as the “stream in the sky,” the intricate canal system offers spectacular views as well as tranquil picnic spots along the riverbanks.

Towering in the background of Llangollen, Castell Dinas Bran sits on a hilltop and serves as a popular walking trek from town. Hike three kilometres to the ruins of Valle Crucis Abbey, a Gothic-style Cistercian abbey, which showcases the lives of past monks and puts on plays, concerts and special events.
